Apparently when I stayed in late Aug 2022 this restaurant just reopened after being closed for a portion of the summer. Great service, great old fashioned, and great burger and fries.

Weird bar experience. I asked for grateful dead. This is essentially a long island with chambourg in place of Pepsi. What was delivered was a weird concoction approximating a long island, looking like a Pepsi and tasting about as much. I explained to the waitress...that a grateful dead contains chambourg and sour mix. She indicated the bar does not have sour mix. Kind of like a mechanic without a wrench. I must say, the food was good.More

Came for Easter Brunch with the family - friendly and very nice staff. Food was a buffet and just terrible - pancakes were tough, Salomon and chicken dry - barely edible, and all served from a room that was depressing and dated. As a tavern...to drink looked like could be fun and good selection of beers - for food there’s just no way to explain how bad.More

Wolfe’s Tavern is located adjacent to the Wolfeboro Inn. They have 8 beers on tap but many bottles - maybe 100 selections - but some were out - Disappointing. The bartenders seemed friendly but not that helpful with information about the beers.

Very slow service. Waiter thought we were giving him large tip and when he returned our change from large bill, he pocketed the change and only gave us back the bills. Food was good, little expensive though. Went 2x and both times they wanted to...sit us at the bar. Why ? Table they sat us at was by the fireplace in the Tavern with a HUGE head of a moose. Was not happy about that at all. This time waiter never came and gave us our check, he was too busy talking to another table, so we just left.More

Went there for dinner with my family. The food was mediocre at best. Mashed potatoes tasted old, the veggies were soggy and steak was okay.

Tourist Trap with Horrible service..at least for us! When we arrived we were seated in the back room area, not the actual pub...The pub area is pretty with lowered lighting, high top tables, stone floor. The room attached is lit from cans in the ceiling,...has bad carpeting and is overall not a pretty room. OK we can live with that. Our table was sticky as if the previous guest spilled soda and it was mopped up with an already sticky cloth. Luckily we had a wipe, so we fixed that. The menu was right for a pub, good app choices, and about 10 entrees, with plenty of variety. Now let's get to our server, Josh. To preface this, right next to us were two tables getting amazing service from a young lady, so this isn't a training issue. Josh just doesn't give a crap...First interaction, about 8 minutes after being sat..he brings waters, then asks "Do you want anything else but water to drink?" No greeting, no introduction, no iota of care shown about us as guests. We ordered drinks...and waited. About 10 minutes later the drinks arrive, we put in for appetizer. This was brought by the manager because Josh was no where to be seen. The manager had to find us b&b plates and roll ups...Josh never brought them. So now we're starting apps and could use another drink. Finally another round of drinks makes it's way over and entrees are put in. Wait, looking for Josh, nope. Finally another runner brings entrees and we eat. Now out of water and bar drinks. We flag Josh down for more water so we can finish our meal, he's so very useless really. In the mean time the two tables mentioned before have had drinks, water refills, someone asked if they liked their food, you know normal waiter stuff. Finally with the check I asked Josh if he was new and he said he's been doing this for a month and it's just his summer job so who cares how good he is. Hopefully everyone who reads this. DON'T GET JOSH. Oh and Asparagus Fries are great!!!More

First of all this restaurant needs a visit from the Board of Health. The place needs a good cleaning from ceilings to rugs. Under my table the rug was NAILED to the floor. The ladies room was dirty, with tissue all over the floor, and...over flowing baskets. The paper towels were just left out on the sink for you to unroll your own. Not very Covid friendly with everyone touching the same roll. My Salmon was so SALTY I couldn't eat it. The Wild Rice and the Garden Salad was the Best part of the meal. They did take the Salmon off the bill as you could see how much salt and seasoning was on top. I tried eating it from the bottom, but the salty taste prevailed. My husband had a pork cutlet that had a mushroom gravy that he scraped off due to the SALT. Do you need to cover up good food with SALT, or is it because the food isn't the best quality??? Not sure. Our waiter, Josh, was very good, and very young. He was attentive, and caring. I hope he lasts as he was very nice and friendly. On the way out I noticed two tiles missing from the tile floor in the foyer. This is NOT the same Wolfe Tavern we had grown to love. And please stop blaming COVID for really bad food. The place was empty, on Father's Day, and now we know why. We won't be back, but I pray the Board of Health does pay them a visit.More

We have been here a few times. Food is always decent as are the drinks. Our problem is the way they treat you. We have always been hesitant to go in because of this. This past Sunday we decided to try again. This time there...was only two of us. It was around 1. There was one table of 3 and two people at the bar. We sat down, the bartender was behind the bar. She gave us a quick hi. Then she disappeared. We sat there for almost 10 minutes and she never returned. Not wanting to waste our day waiting for her, we left. I just could not believe it being that she had no customers. Too bad as we are extremely good tippers and would have enjoyed an app and drink but she didn't seem to be interested in serving us.More

The tavern has a great atmosphere with pewter mugs hanging from the ceiling, and some live edge board tables. The drinks were great. Unfortunately the food was just average. We had the asparagus fries appetizer - it sounded really interesting! The stalks of asparagus were...lightly battered and fried, which was fine. I was disappointed in the dipping sauce. Very little flavor. We both had the beef stew. It was supposed to come with a biscuit, but it didn't. It came with foccashia bread. Bummer. The stew itself was fine. Thick and hearty wtih peas, carrots and potato. Service was a little slow, but not bad. Overall just an OK experience.More

You can't beat Wolfe's as a go-to favorite with family, friends or just couples! Great food and drink (over 100 beers with at least 16 on tap!) selections and fantastic service. We prefer the pub, especially in the winter, but the adjacent dining room is...also very nice. Reservations a really good idea in the peak season.More

We visited the evening of 3/7/20 for drinks and dinner. We sat at the bar as it seemed very nice. The bartender was more interested in chatting with their friends that were hanging out for what appeared like bottomless drinks. once we got his attention...we ordered the Onion soup and clam chowder. The Onion soup was in the top 5 and I consider myself some what of an expert on it. the chowder was very thin less of a chowder and more like a broth. The staff was very willing to let my wife order off the lunch menu even that we were in the dinner service. The Chicken salad sandwich was wonderful. I had the chicken under a brick. The chicken was perfect but the Risotto was a mess. It lacked flavor and seemed like the cook had used boiled rice and tried to wing it. Overall the atmosphere is great. the staff seems very friendly. Maybe too friendly (the bartender) but the food was hit or miss. With some minor changes it could be spot on..More

Josh is outstanding. Personality plus and never gets frazzled! We attended Fire & Ice and the place was mobbed. The Tavern was hopping and we had to wait for a table because we did not have reservations but it was well worth it. Huge delicious...burgers with wide variety of choices and numerous add ons. Tater tot appetizer does not disappoint. Will stay over for this event next time.More
