This is perhaps the best ice cream in NH and some of the best anywhere. It's made right there and is both rich and creamy. While they only have a couple of dozen flavors, unlike some places with 70, 80, 90, their ice cream is almost perfect. With fresh cream (farm is only three miles away and made into ice cream the same day it's delivered), and local and natural ingredients, this is about as good as it gets.
We've been there several times over the years, and today's visit was the best yet. I decided to try their hot fudge sundae, instead of the usual cone. I did the "one scoop" (I can't even imaging the three) and, while a bit more costly than other places around the area, it was huge and the best hot fudge sundae I've ever had.
Today I tried their coffee and cookies flavor, and I strongly recommend it for anyone who likes coffee flavor. It wasn't too strong, but definitely could taste the premium coffee flavor.

My wife and I stopped by the Walpole Creamery on a recent trip, specifically their 532 Main St location. An otherwise unassuming ice cream shop set in a building it shares with a tire shop we were blown away by the variety of ice cream flavours, the incredible quality of the ice cream, and the friendliness of the staff!
We tried their Acapulco Coco (their take on Mexican hot chocolate), and Coffee and Cream. We also sampled a flavor that incorporated Grape Nuts cereal. The Acapulco Coco was an instant success - rich, creamy, and perfectly chocolatey, with a hint of heat and cinnamon. The coffee and cream was also phenomenal.
The staff was able to answer our questions about the ingredients, and also let us know how almost everything was locally sourced - including the milk, which came from cows right up the road. In fact, the staff were so accommodating, they even gave my wife an ice cream label in lieu of a sticker as a souvenir!
We'll be back for sure, and encourage everyone to give Walpole Creamery a try!

Since I live in Maine now and don't get out to the Keene area often, I buy their ice cream by the pint at my local grocery store. I just bought their mocha chip and 'real maple cream' flavors, and they're excellent, especially the maple. It's hard to find maple ice cream made with real maple, never mind without the walnuts. I do miss going to their ice cream stand, though -- maybe on our next foliage trip!

I have had this ice cream a few times and I don't find it very interesting. It's not very dense, rich, or flavorful and it's not cheap either. There isn't a lot of cookie dough in the cookie dough flavor and I have experienced ice crystals from a pint that was right from the factory! There is much better ice cream to be had. I in fact find Ben and Jerry's to be much richer and denser (and cheaper). Incidentally I have seen the farm where they get their milk from and it is scary looking and doesn't look well maintained.

On Friday I drove more than an hour to get some of the always excellent ice cream. When I got there there were a half dozen people in line, ALL wearing masks and staying apart. More came as I got in line, all masked. Good so far!
Then I discovered the young woman serving was NOT wearing a mask and she was handling both food and money...no sign of hand sanitation either. Walpole may not be requiring masks, but they remain highly recommended by health experts and governments as the Covid pandemic continues to spread.
Since I'm elderly, some health issues, I do not take foolish chances, so I did not place my order, got back in my car, and drove the hour plus back home. Two and half hours and 3 gallons of gas, wasted.
I contacted their e-mail and was disappointed they didn't bother to reply, so I decided to post a review after all.

The ice cream here is exceptionally delicious. There is a wide variety of flavors. We enjoyed chocolate indulgence, mocha chip, chocolate chip, and mint chip scoops. Service was friendly and efficient, and it's a very clean ice cream parlor. We will definitely return next time we visit Vermont!

I always stop here when in the area. Their ice cream is some of the best I've ever had. The quality is superb and the flavors are outstanding. My favorites are the sweet cream (hard to find anywhere else), Tahitian vanilla, and chocolate. Their ice cream can also be found by the pint in local grocery stores and farm stands, but there's nothing like getting it from the Walpole Creamery. (There's also a creamery in Keene).

In a land long-ago, and faraway, there were many local ice cream stands. Nowadays? Not so much. Many places buy their ice cream, in bulk, from a few major suppliers.
The Walpole Creamery is different. The ice cream was deliciously fresh and subtlety different. The ice cream was truly creamy and not excessively sweet. To my taste, it was exceptional, homemade, ice cream!
Highly recommended.

Hot humid day today. Stood in line for 20 minutes before I gave up. Hope you're not expecting ice cream in a reasonable amount of time. They've only got 2 people working on a Summer Saturday afternoon.

My family has gad ice cream here as the store has changed hands over the years. The quality is really good now, and I would recommend getting a cone here

The ice cream is absolutely delicious, and one may purchase pints at local grocery stores. The ice cream stand was quite crowded the evening we visited, and the service was pretty slow. It looks like the prices have increased since the last time we went, but overall, it was a positive experience.

Walpole Creamery makes the best ice cream I have ever had...anywhere. I recommend the chocolate, coffee, Tahitian vanilla, coconut, mocha chip for starters. They give your dog a free sample topped with a dog biscuit with your order. Nirvana for you and your pet!
