About
Small full service restaurant and bar in downtown Walpole, NH. Spencer's Place is named after a local boy in town went thru 8 open heart surgeries and a heart transplant at age 11. The Donovan's, owners of Spencer's Place, never saw him without a smile during his long ordeal. He is doing well and a senior in high school. Spencer's Place donates part of their proceeds to the hospital in Boston he spent many months at.

We met friends here on a Wednesday. It's a good thing we arrived early because it didn't take long for every table to be filled. The atmosphere was friendly and welcoming. Many of the diners were likely locals because they knew many of the others. The menu is extensive plus there are specials. They have bar service as well. Our food was served in a timely manner and was tasty and plentiful. We'll definitely continue to patronize Spencer's.

Even on a busy Tuesday evening, we were immediately seated. It's a nice local restaurant. Our server was very prompt, helpful, and attentive. Drinks arrived quickly and before long our entrees arrived with plenty of tasty food. Dessert was excellent too.
We had an excellent experience overall and we were allowed to linger at our table to chat with our family member who was visiting from out of town. Our server, in particular, was excellent but we don't know her name--blond hair with a braid in the back. We will definitely return.

I've been here quite a few times. Nice pub style resteraunt / bar. Waitress was a riot. Ordered the french onion soup...Excellent! Down side is the prices are a little high for the area, but you won't go away hungry. We've taken to go plate a few times.

This is our third and last visit to Spencers. When a restaurant only has three tables of lunch diners and it takes 60 minutes to get sandwiches and soup, it is much too long. We were served water immediately. When asked about the delay, the proprietor explained she only had one cook. I understand that Covid has had an impact on the help, but it would have been nice if she had checked our table and explained the situation. She was busy talking to the man at the bar.

There were four of us for dinner on a quiet Monday night. I started with the shrimp cocktail, excellent and fresh, followed by the salmon special, tasty and well done. The Thanksgiving wraps were really good.
The waitstaff were cheerful, attentive and prompt. This is a reliable family-friendly local restaurant where you will always have a good meal for a reasonable price. If you are ever in the Walpole environs you should stop in and have a meal.

We just found this place a week ago and have been here twice. On the small side but great food and drinks, excellent prices, and very friendly service. Can't wait to go back.

Spencer's Place takes hospitality to heart, which makes for a thoroughly pleasant dining experience. It has a refined, casually modern style, yet it is not the least bit pretentious. We like how the tables are well spaced and not on top of each other. It's kept immaculately clean and attractively furnished. The music is kept low in the background, so that one doesn't have to shout to converse. The location is in a lovely setting, right in downtown Walpole, the most charming town in New Hampshire. The service is always good and never intrusive.
Last, but not least, the American-style food is cooked to order, delicious, and served with a smile. The French onion soup and the French fries are outstanding. The fish tacos never disappoint and are so good, they'll haunt you. The menu offers something for everyone. We are particularly impressed with the distinct flavors of the salad bar, with its generous, top-notch ingredients and freshness.Â
We love Spencer's Place and find it worth the special trip from a nearby town to return there again and again.Â

Return visit to determine where this restaurant belongs on our ranking of restaurants for our daily visit to a restaurant "locally." We both had fish and chips. Our meal tasted OK, but not exceptional. Too much reading on the fish. The serving size was entirely too large. Overall food experience was "average." The fish was served with "coated" fries which were tasty. Service was excellent.

We were here once again on burger Tuesday so the place was very crowded but we did manage to be seated right away. They have their regular menu plus the burger specials. Service was initially a little slower than usual but every table was full so it was understandable. Once served, they were quite helpful and attentive. We ordered our food and it arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The varied items were all appealing and quite tasty. As the crowd thinned out, we did take time to linger and socialize before leaving. Overall, a good experience once again and we will definitely return.
Plenty of free parking in the lot or on street. Accessible via a ramp on the side.

The dishes we ordered off of the menu at Spencer’s was pretty good, but the salad bar needs work. The bread was very old and not edible. The lettuce was not the freshest. I had to pick around to find the good pieces. Great house dressing, though! The service is friendly but the waitresses are not as attentive as they should be. Ours was smiley but we couldn’t hear her very well. Speak louder and clear ! Also You have to ask for plates to get the salad bar, refills on water or anything else, etc. we had to track our waitress down on more than one occasion to get what we needed. I heard some other patrons asking for their bill because they were left sitting long after they were finished eating. The music was interesting. I felt like I had to eat fast due to it.. it didn’t match the restaurant . Try calming selections. You want just a little background music, nothing overpowering. I think this place just has a few kinks to work out and they’ll be ok... it is a fairly new establishment. We will return to try again! Kindness was on point a huge plus for us! :)

Tuesday is the night for their burger specials (and Wednesday is taco and margarita night). The place was pretty full for both the indoor and outdoor tables but we were able to be immediately seated. If you're here before 6 PM they have appetizers specials as well. For the burger specials, you can order one of the three types they offered on special or you can order from their regular menu too. They have a full bar so there is a wide variety of drinks available. Service was prompt and pleasant. The vibe was very comfortable and friendly and many locals were here enjoying a pleasant evening out as well.
There is a senior discount for over 65. Parking is in the lot or on street. There are steps up to the front door but there is a ramp on the east side which comes up to the outdoor dining area and then you can enter the main building.
We'll definitely return for another good meal!

Despite being a Friday evening, we were able to be immediately seated, although the restaurant was quite busy. Service was off to a slow start but picked up through the course of our meals. There is an extensive list of drinks. The food menu is mostly pub faire plus some other entrees, summer salads, and daily specials. Portions were good if not quite generous for some entrees. The atmosphere was very pleasant and had a local feel. Service was friendly although a bit uneven. We've been here before and will definitely return again.
