What was once a "premier Italian Restaurant in So. NH, has dramatically declined. While server was pleasant, apps were delivered prior to cocktails. Food was well below average. My $28 dollar veal saltimoca dish was delivered cold. It felt like food was pre-made and heated...in microwave. Excuse - "shorthanded"More

My husband and I were looking forward to a nice dinner out and boy we're we let down. 1st let me say the staff was friendly and service was very good. Atmosphere was nice and, from what I could see, clean including the restroom. My...husband ordered pasta e fagioli and said it was pretty good. After that - not good at all! We both ordered veal saltimbocca with fresh pasta. I like my pasta a little more al dente than a lot of people but this was just plain undercooked. Some stuck to the plate which makes me think microwave? Sauce was gloopy and not very tasty. That brings us to the "veal". I thought the waitress brought me sausage but she told me it's just a"different presentation". No ..... It was a processed, formed, presumably frozen log of lukewarm cheese and some sort of gummy, mushy paste that I'm assuming was supposed to be veal. Papa Gino's is a few steps up from the mystery log that was served to us. Where they get the nerve to call that veal and charge $26 is beyond me. I thought about complaining but chose to just pay the bill and leave. Maybe their other dishes are worth ordering but I can say emphatically that we will never find out. With standards like that they are off our list permanently.More

We arrived on time for our reservation, and it look a while to get seated. From there we waited and waited for someone to come over, when they did we put in our drinks order, they finally came back worth them and took our order....The antipasto we ordered was so small (and we asked prior how many it would serve) we also got the stuffed mushrooms, which were not very good. The entrees were disappointing, some were cold the veal my husband got was like a piece of rubber. My dish however was very good there squid ink pasta with shrimp extra spicy. I would point out it was a Sunday evening and not busy, so Not sure why there service was so bad.More

We have loved the Colosseum in the past and we’re really looking forward to it. The restaurant was very busy during our visit and this definitely impacted the service and errors with our meals. They simply could not keep up. I know it has been...hard for all restaurants to get enough help but when your are paying a lot for a meal it is frustrating. Eggplant parmigiana was cold and the portion size was considerably smaller than our last visit. Individual caesar salads were missing croutons and had barely any cheese. You could see the fried egg pieces on the chicken Francais. Not sure we will be back again.More

We have been using this restaurant for takeout throughout the pandemic since moving to Salem, NH this year. However, this is the first time we had eaten in the restaurant and we were extremely pleased. The atmosphere was beautiful, the booth was very roomy and...comfortable, the music playing was extremely pleasant and the staff from the hostesses and our waitress, Kaitlyn were very pleasant and efficient. The meal was absolutely delicious! From appetizers, entrees, to desserts, everything was fantastic. Highly recommend.More

Had an oversight with an item that we ordered for dinner. When I called to explain what occurred, the owner's son was most gracious and apologetic and offered options. We asked to have the missing dish delivered. And Annibale Todesca, the chef owner, brought the...dish to our home and also apologized for the error!!! WOW!! We are most appreciative for this special effort and look forward to another great meal from The Colosseum. Thank you, Mr. Todesca and staff!!! Armando Atkinson, NHMore

We enjoyed our dinner, service was prompt and friendly, food was served hot and in a timely fashion and the price was equal to the service. This was our first visit and with the plethera of Italian restaurants in Salem it may be sometime before...we have a second visit, however, at some point we would return.More

I had dinner here a few weeks ago and could not get over how delicious the shrimp fransese and the veal saltimbocca were, a step above anyone in the area. The seasonings brought these extremely fresh and delightful dishes to a whole new level. The...second time just as good. As for the person who commented on the staff all were professional, knowledgeable about the COVID guidelines and were following through with sanitation procedures. You could feel very good about dining here.More

We ate there with another couple last night due to Covid dining was outside. The wait staff wore masks but no gloves the food is not very good quality, very little meat in the Bolognese sauce. They have an upcharge for angel hair spaghetti don’t...tell you! My friend had Veal Parmesan it was so overcooked it could not eat it. Overall just terrible and quite pricey!!!More

First night out after this journey with Covid 19. We sat outside under a tent and the staff did a fabulous job. Trying to get acclimated to serving tables outside on a hot muggy night quickly and with accuracy had to be difficult. The walk...alone inside to the bar or kitchen to retrieve the orders was a long one. I can say from the waiter to the runner, it was a great night. We were aware that we had a 90 minute max window to drink, eat, etc. but because we were the last seating they didn't kick us out. They let us sit there listen to music and enjoy the evening. It was a very nice night, very well thought out by the Collosseum. In these uncertain time, this was pleasantly unexpected.More

Stared at dirty dishes piling up and falling at the bar. Service was lacking. Experienced, 25 year veteran ignored my untouched dessert for 39 minutes. Did not get what I ordered or it was not done yet. Owner walking the property, speaking to no one....3 hours dining. Will not be back. Too many choices in the area that do a nicer job. Sad to see.More

THw Colosseum is quite large and if you ask to be seated away from the bar area either to the right of the host/greeting area there is a strong chance you will have a quiet meal.
