We found this place on the way to the park and noticed the crowd of people so we decided to try it. It's a very small place, but they handle large crowds well, they are very efficient and wait on you immediately. The guys that seated and served us we super friendly! The potions were huge! I ordered cinnamon swirl... More

The service has always been wonderful whenever we have visited. The food is well prepared and scrumptious. If there is anything bad about the place, it's also the quaint size. While it adds charm it also means there could be a little wait to be seated. So this is the kind of place you want to have no time limit,... More

Great food, great prices, friendly wait staff. Highly recommend it. A small place that usually has a line of people waiting (a sure sign of a good place!) – but fast service means the table turn over quickly.

Colbys is worth the wait for basic, good food, especially breakfast, something Portsmouth does not have enough of. The pancakes are the best. Eat outside in the alley if the weather is good. This is a place the locals go.

Waiter very pleasant. Very small place with no A/C, not a good thing on a hot day which was the weather the day we visited. We ordered breakfast that included eggs, bacon, homefries and 2 huge pancakes. The best part were the pancakes served with real maple syrup. The rest of the meal was nothing special. They did have outside... More

We loved our breakfast experience at Colby's (on a Sunday AM). Be sure to get there early or plan on a wait (free coffee while you wait, if you so desire). The menu is diverse with something for everyone. I had the special- eggs Benedict with Maine lobster and spinach, home fries (red potatoes, not tater tot types). Tasty, although... More

I ate a Colby's while in Portsmouth 2 years ago. Happy to say it was just as great this time around. Spent 3 mornings in Portsmouth and went to Colby's for 2 breakfasts! Tried the specials as well as the cinnamon swirl french toast. Specials are creative and delicious; don't be afraid of lobster or brussel sprouts in your breakfast... More

Tripadvisor has yet to steer me wrong and this place is a great example of the hidden gems you might never otherwise try. Tiny place, GREAT food. Warning- the pancakes are huge and addictive! Prices are very reasonable and the staff is welcoming and attentive.

During our recent get-away to Portsmouth, my wife and I ate breakfast at Colby's twice. Delicious. Each day I had fried eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The pancakes were large (the second day--really large) and the syrup was real maple syrup. Both days we sat in the little alley-way outside the door (by our own choice) and enjoyed the cool morning... More

We heard this place was the place to eat for breakfast and we would approve too! Although we waited a few minutes to get a table ready, our waiter was jovial and pleasant throughout the breakfast service. Coffee was excellent, filled up to the brim everytime a member of the morning crew walked by, and our food was delicious. My... More
