Made a reservation for a Friday night(highly recommend making one) enjoyed a delicious filet cooked perfectly with a giant baked potato and sautéed mushrooms .. Great service from Jose .. Delicious Creme brûlée for dessert ... Loved this place for a nice quiet dinner!

We had dinner at the library last night. It was wonderful. We started with the shrimp cocktail which was amazing. The shrimp were huge and the cocktail sauce was very tasty. For my dinner I got the vegetarian pasta and it was delicious. My husband got the seafood pasta and he loved that also. Would definitely go back!

The Library will wrap itself around you as soon as you walk in the door. Dark wood, restful lights are just the beginning. They have a wonderful Martini List, and for an appetizer, the Bang Bang Shrimp is hard to beat. We shared a Classic Caesar Salad...plenty for two. Dinner bread was delicious. After eating our fill of seafood for... More

From PA passing through to visit family in Maine. Stopped in for lunch with my husband. Everything was excellent. Was there 4 years prior with 2 good friends for dinner. And wanted my husband to experience the beautiful atmosphere, excellent service and fantastic food.

This is by far one of my favorite restaurants in Portsmouth. If you are in the mood for steak you must check it out! My husband and I come here for all of our special occassions, it can be on the pricey side but it's so worth it! They have great hand crafted cocktails and a massive martini list that... More

We were a party of 4, walk-ins at 9:00 pm on Tuesday night so it was quiet there, but greeted promptly upon entry. Fantastic caesar salads to start then appetizers of mussels. We all liked our dinners a lot (prime pork chop on the bone, prime sirloin, rack of ribs and lobster pie and then sides - we definitely over-ate... More

Ever think you might have a drink where George Washington discussed diplomacy and strategy? This is the place. Steps from the new Lark Hotel (Hotel Portsmouth), this is a true gem - not to be missed. Large drink selection of high caliber, and a broad enough menu that we had starters, meals, desserts, and of course, drinks. Fabulous.

Went here on a recommendation from the hotel staff and we wish we could have come sooner as it was our last night in Portsmouth. My husband said he had one of the best steaks of his life and my lobster pot pie was wonderful-not normally a fan of pastry this was light as a feather and the lobster filling... More

We went to The Library for a wedding rehearsal dinner. The setting was unique from the two lions flanking the front steps to the books lining all the rooms inside. The staff was efficient and very professional. The food, which was served family style for our group of 30, was outstanding. I particularly liked the haddock. It was incredibly fresh... More

Had a wonderful dinner last night. Jeannine was our server and made the evening fun. The prime steak was delicious, wish we could have sampled the deserts but to full. Would love to come back with friends
