Interesting atmosphere and the servers are all nice. I loved the variety on the menu, it makes you want to come back and try some more items. I had the huge sklarmaggedon omelette with home fries and homemade toast. Everything I tasted was good!

Had an excellent new year's eve breakfast at the Friendly Toast. There were so many creative options on the breakfast menu it was hard to choose. We were both very happy with our selections. Our waitstaff, Brooke, was very friendly and a huge advocate for the seacoast area and the food scene in Portsmouth. The restaurant had a folksy fun... More

We tried it. It's typical for old town. Over priced yet still just average. The wait was longer than our actual meal. I felt herded in and herded out like at a chain restaurant. The hollandaise is very tasty and I suggest asking for extra for the bland home fries. The savory crepes were great as well but they were... More

We stopped here on our way to Boston looking for a good breakfast in the middle of the day. The Friendly Toast is located in pretty downtown Portsmouth; My husband had the biscuits and gravy that came in a sizeable portion and he rated as excellent. I had the Friendly Toast Benny that comes with hollandaise sauce; not something that... More

Great food ! Reasonable prices for the amount you receive ! Funky names for things such as the DGGC ( Damn Good Grilled Cheese) and believe me, it is! Jalapeño bread, several kinds of cheese, olive spread and hot strawberry sauce to dip it in. And I mean spicy hot !!

Whenever we are in Portsmouth, we usually try to have one meal at the Friendly Toast. We love the decor of the place -- eclectic diner style -- with comfortable booth and table seating and plenty to look at if the conversation lags. We usually try to make it for one of the Happy Hour times when they have half... More

Always try to take in this spot when in the Portsmouth, NH. Located on funky Congress Street this is a staple for locals and tourists alike. Great breakfast menu with fresh ingredients and a diverse offering. Good for carnivores as well as vegetarian and vegan friendly choices. The decor is, shall we say, a bit eclectic and sure to bring... More

Nothing horrible and nothing amazing. Usually a little bit of a wait but not a big deal Colby's is a lot better though.

In addition to the great food, generous portions at very fair prices, the ambiance of this establishment is so unusual, retro vibe and entertaining.

As always a fantastic treat!! We were headed home from Exeter to Maine and knew where we were going to go for breakfast. This place is great, as always!! We got there early enough that there was no wait for a table. I suggest sharing a meal, if you don't eat a lot. The servings are ample and delicious. Well... More
