We didn't have food here, but it's always been a fun spot to stop for a few drinks and some live music. Just remember, it's a bar, so don't expect the bathrooms to be even remotely sanitary.😳

As the sign says, good food and live music. In fact the food is great, and the music is even better. Reminds me of the old Club 47 in Cambridge Mass, which was just behind Harvard Square. But for those who are younger than 50, just be sure that you will definitely enjoy your evening, no matter who is playing.

We just ate there while meeting friends last Friday evening. Portsmouth was busy as usual in the summer. Parked in garage on Hanover Street. Press Room easy to find, good beers, friendly staff that allowed us time to catch up. We ate downstairs.

I enjoy Sunday nights at the Press Room upstairs with live jazz musicians. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. Wait staff is experienced and polite. Informal atmosphere belies the wealth of music, good cheer and good eats.

I've been here on several occasions to see shows. It's a small venue that lacks a real stage but it makes shows feel like an intimate house party. Great chance to see a band up close and interact. The beer menu could use some additions but there are breweries close by so hit them up before the show!

The Press Room is a restaurant/pub/music venue like no other. Music is 7 days a week--jazz, blues, rock. But it is also one of the places that makes Portsmouth such a great city to visit because it is so unique in the range and novelty of what goes on there. Great small groups for jazz lunch/brunch and in the evenings.... More

We stopped in for a light meal and some beers and an opportunity to soak up some local flavor. We shared a burger and fries and a few beers. The burger was not bad and the music downstairs were locals singing traditional Irish songs. Overall we enjoyed the atmosphere and recommend a visit to all music lovers. Bigger music is... More

We are the type who dig the divey vibe for bars, and this place did not disappoint! While there were tourists, the bar and the upstairs venue seemed geared more toward locals, which is what we loved about it!

Jazz singer and back-up band drew us in. The server had to cover the entire floor alone, so the food took a while. It was good, not great. They accommodated a special request and kept my water glass full all evening long. The music was worth coming for. Nice ambience

The Press Room hosts a Friday afternoon "open session" with area musicians and singers. You'll not find a more authentic or enjoyable concert this side of a pub in Ireland. The atmosphere is pub like and the food is up to the atmosphere. Highly recommended.
