Terrific little breakfast spot

The Golden Egg comes highly recommended as a place where locals meet for breakfast and lunch. It did not disappoint. They offer numerous creative omelettes and Benedicts, as well as an unusual number of daily specials for a small restaurant. My wife had the California Benedict, which had poached... read more

I was very excited to come. We were going on a Sunday morning. We know that being a Sunday morning it would be ridiculously busy so we called ahead and they said they don't take reservations. So we said there are 9 of us would you be able to accommodate that. They said not a problem come on over. We... More

Found this place by way of Taste of the Seacoast, what a great find! Service was awesome, food even more so and prices are very reasonable. A bit out of the way, but worth the extra mile or two it takes to get there. Menu was so large it was almost ridiculous, between the 3 full pages of regular items... More

Great treat on Sunday mornings after church; however the lines begin forming after 9 am. Breakfasts from $5-$12. MANY options for omelets, eggs bennie, muffins, toast. Just lots of choices for everyone. If you can't find something you like here, you are too fussy LOL. Gluten free offerings include delicious muffins baked locally in Hampton, NH. Today I had a... I have been going to the Golden Egg for approx. 20 years on and off. Each time I've gone, I've 'special ordered' and they have always accommodated when they could. The food is and has been consistently excellent all of these years. Approx. 90% of the staff has been there for this entire length of time, and happy wait staff... More

We visited the Golden Egg before going to tour a site in Portsmouth. I had an omelette that was a special. Ok, it was not as great as the Omelette Factory in Ogunquit, but it was really good for a place that does not have omelette in the name. Everything, including some exceptional coffee was really, really good. The two... More

We hadn't eaten here for quite a while, so we decided to stop here on the way to Maine. It was busy, but we didn't have to wait for a table. On weekends the line goes out the door so get there early !! The breakfast menu has about every type of breakfast food found anywhere. The service, wait staff... More

Here's a hint--pumpkin spice brulee coffee when my wife and I arrived. She ordered Stuffed Texas Toast with baked apples and REAL whipped cream. (Note the picture). There's most definitely a big difference between it and the canned stuff from the supermarket. No match. And, let's be honest--who takes the time these days to make it? I odered an omelette... More

Even when for us The Golden Egg was an hour commute to breakfast, we would still make that drive at least monthly. Now that we are in New Hampshire full time, you will find us there regularly. Those who arise later will most likely encounter a wait, but it is worth it. Eggcellent and varied menu, a courteous and energetic... More
