The food and service were good. The choice of food and drinks were fab. If I had to complain about one small thing and that the chicken tikka masala was served in a stainless steel bowl with handles. The bowl was too big and too deep. I actually felt like I was eating out of a dog bowl. A civilized... More

We spent the day in Portsmouth for my Husband's birthday. Sail Portsmouth was awesome and one of the workers recommend this restaurant though we were already convinced to go elsewhere. The Hubby is a huge bangers and mash fan, we were told this is the best place in town. Unfortunately, the sausage was overcooked ruining the meal for us all... More

I took my husband (English) to the Coat of Arms Pub recently, and we had the best English style fish and chips since we lived in England! Typical pub, casual, relaxed atmosphere, TV on the soccer game with fans rooting for both teams that added to the ambience of the place. Lots of beers on offer too! Great waitress handling... More

I lived in England for six months back in the early 2000s, and this is one of very, very few pubs I've visited in the states that has the feel of a real British pub. From the menu items (which include curry, a British staple) to the dark carpeting to the general vibe of the place, it captures some of... More

15 of us had a birthday dinner here. This restaurant has a good beer menu. Great selection of food from seafood, burgers, sandwiches, to full dinners. The restaurant was busy and we were a big crowd but that didn't deter the level of service we received. Attentive servers and good wait times for the food. You absolutely must try the... More

We love the selection of 5 cask-conditioned craft beers. You can't get that anywhere. We have only had apps there, and they are good. Bartenders are friendly and attentive, and the prices are reasonable. Will be back to try an entree some time, but it's a fun place with a local flair to it.

Great English pub in downtown Portsmouth. Pub food is great and the bear selection is wide. Cozy environment is great to just relax.

drinks & dinner. I got the hugest fish and chips I have ever see. It was beer battered but huge. I could only eat 1/4 of it. Share with hubby. Everything was great except for how long it took us to get our meals. We had an event at Birdseye and they took over a half hour to get the... More

Wonderful food and great beer selection. Very welcoming and casual atmosphere. Plenty of room to spread out with a group big or small. Loved the vibe!

Great food, great people! I'm a repeat customer, and would recommend Coat of Arms to anyone looking for comfort food in a very casual atmosphere.
