Started with oysters and the shrimp sliders. Oysters were good - but the shrimp sliders were so delicious!! I was surprised at how good they were. Then we both had the Lobster Kristina. WOW!!!! This is worth a trip to Portsmouth all by itself -...and the sauce should be bottled so we could drink it all the way home. A must stop!! Well spaced tables and a good wait staff make for a terrific meal.More

Just enjoyed another delicious seafood dinner overlooking the harbor! I enjoyed the Korean BBQ scallops with delicious grilled green beans and mashed potatoes with horseradish, so yummy! My husband had the crab cake appetizer as his meal with a side salad—plenty of food for a...main meal, however I confess I did share one of my scallops with him since they gave me plenty. I tried the lemonade with blueberries, which packed a nice amount of sour and sweet combo (great alternative if you’re not in the mood for an alcoholic drink). As always, we will be back!More

Right, at a seafood restaurant recommending a salad, it’s true. It’s amazing and worth it. We frequent Buckley establishments and are mostly in Nashua but also love the cafe in Hollis. Got steak and seafood at the market last weekend but that’s another story. Had...the chance to go to Portsmouth surf today and had a great experience. Sat at the bar and had great service. The shrimp cocktail was perfect as always with just enough heat. We also got the artichoke/shrimp dip, the salad and a lobster roll. It was all excellent. Bartender made a couple of great margaritas. Check it out next time you are in Portsmouth (or Nashua).More

Really cool restaurant with a great menu and great staff ! Something here for everyone which is perfect when you have a family of 4 with very different tastes ! Ask for a table with a view of the river if possible when booking -...really adds to the overall experience ! Fish and chips is excellent. The batter on the fish is very light and was cooked to perfection ! They also have some great specials with a little twist ! Red Snapper with a mild curry sauce, rice and the freshest of vegetables was an absolute winner !!! Highly recommend a visit!More

Dined here for our anniversary dinner last night... and so glad we chose Surf! The quality of the food and service here are exceptional. A special shout out to Rebecca (sp?) our server who was so fun, engaging, and knowledgeable about the food offerings. She...steered us to a fabulous meal. For starters, the Hawaiian Tuna Poke is absolutely unique and so fresh tasting. I would make a meal out of that alone - one of the best dishes I have ever eaten! My sweet wife got the mussels steamed with chorizo... which seemed like an odd combo until we tried it... genius chef - those flavors melded so well together. Our entrees were just as spectacular: Lobster Kristina and the hot buttered Lobster Maki... again both were superbly crafted and presented, and the flavors were so savory... I am salivating again just writing this review! All this amazing food, plus a table looking out on the Piscataqua River, plus an AMAZING server = one magical evening. Thank you, Surf, for such an exceptional and memorable anniversary dinner! (our 42nd!)More

The hostess seated us right away and Derrek, our server, was attentive and knowledgeable with his suggestions and timeliness. The Fried Calamari had a hint of spic but not overpowering and the oysters were fresh, crisp and briny. My wife's scared tuna entree was perfectly...cooked and a very large portion. My youngest attacked the kids menu pasta (adult sized portion) and oldest loved the kids menu chicken fingers (they seemed to be hand battered and not the standard kids fare. My sushi (Dragon Roll and Tuna and Crispy Garlic Roll) were tasty and well made, none of the ingredients overpowering the fresh tuna and salmon but complimenting them nicely. Also stick around for an espresso, they pull a nice after dinner coffee.More

Their seafood selection is limited, it seems as if this place is more of a sushi joint. Drinks and food was good quality. The clams on the half shell were very fresh.

We visited on a Thursday night & asked for an outside table. They anticipated that the wait would be 90 minutes and would text us when it was ready. We were very surprised when we got a text about 40 minutes later. When we arrived,...there was an issue with the table so we were asked to wait a few more minutes. Because of Covid, seating has to be limited & things got congested. The manager on duty (Brendan) could not have been nicer or more accommodating and was very apologetic for the additional wait. We were shown to a wonderful outside table with a fantastic view. The outdoor area we sat in had only 3 tables so you could understand why there would be a wait. The small porch overlooked the river, bridges & Marina's. We were treated to a beautiful sunset. Our server Charlotte, was very knowledgeable and helped me decide on Lobster Kristina. My partner decided on blackened fish tacos. I do not have ample words to describe how delicious the Lobster Kristina was. It is lobster flambé in cognac that then has cream & lobster brine combined to make the sauce over Jasmine rice with grilled asparagus. The sauce was so good! I kept wishing for another spoonful. The fish tacos were delicious as well but the Kristina overshadowed everything. Surf has a nice wine and beer menu as well as a cool specialty cocktail menu. I had a great glass of wine & my partner had a new to him IPA that he liked so much that we bought some on the way home. I can't recommend Surf enough. The service was friendly & helpful, the view awesome & the food delicious.More

There is a small area that has outside seating. Maybe two tables. More of an afterthought for that area rather than a patio.

I would definitely make reservations for a dinner seating. If you go in for an early dinner you have a good chance of getting a nice table by the windows without a reservation

No the outside dining area is a small deck that juts out of the back of the restaurant. To reach it you must walk through the inside of the restaurant.
