BG's Boathouse is a no-frills lobster house. Steamed lobster, lobster rolls and steamers lead the menu choices and all are great. The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, on the fringe of town, but worth the minimal effort to get there. Free parking is plentiful. Outdoor seating is available on the dock. My wife and I had steamed... More

It was my first visit to BG's, and I went at a pretty busy time near end of summer. It's bigger than it looks from the outside, but fills up fast during the season. We sat out on the porch under cover, and had a delicious meal. What I especially liked was their selection of "mini-meals" which are smaller sized.... More

Love going to BG's. Great spot for summer lunch or dinner. Chowder is excellent as well as other seafood choices.

Portsmouth has a lot of great restaurants, but head out of town a few miles, and find this place, right on Sagamore Creek. Excellent seafood in a casual family setting. Full bar and good wine list, but the point of going there is the great menu of mostly seafood (fresh!) done well. Choose to sit outside, inside, or on the... More

I am giving this a four for the type of restaurant this is. It is not fancy but the food is good. The portions were not huge at lunch, but I like that. The staff was nice and it was a great way to start our vacation.

This restaurant is at the edge of the creeks flowing around portsmouth and Newcastle And is a great place for seafood or lobster. I had the "small plate" fisherman's platter with whole belly clams, shrimp and fish all fried to perfection for under $20. My spouse had the fried fish and our friend had the lazyman lobster. It was all... More

BG's is filled with history and feels like you've settled in for an old fashioned fish dinner after a day on the boat. Atmosphere is nostalgic and fun, staff is helpful and friendly. Lots of very fried choices and big portions so you might want to choose healthier options. Great deck and lovely view, but bring the bug spray. All... More

I met friends for dinner on the deck. They live in Arizona now, so naturally they wanted the lobster & steamers. I had the small fish & chips, which was very good and I couldn't even finish it. Service was great, but we did think the deck chairs were a tad uncomfortable, Perhaps because we were there for quite a... More

We stopped for lunch today - a beautiful day- were seated outside, which was great. We had the lobster bisque which was good. We both had fried clam baskets which were greasy and some were burned around the edges and all had a distinct burned taste. The fried onion rings were good. Also, no cole slaw. We have had fried seafood... More

Casual waterfront dining - outside seating and a covered porch. Inside might be good on a rainy day, but otherwise wouldn't do that. This was a return visit and I don't think I've ever had a bad meal here. When I called to find out what time they were open until it appeared not to be a fixed time "Oh,... More
