The bentos at Shio are only $10.90, and well worth the price. I ordered the sashimi bento, since I love raw fish! It came with a miso soup, salad, rice, gyoza, sushi, and meat. It was really filling for me, and cheap too! Oh, and also, we ate in a Japanese - style room where we had to take off... More

I used to work in the Portsmouth area for 3-4 weeks a year and we would always have our first meal at Shio. Great appetizers and wonderful atmosphere - you can sit in little rooms where you sit on the floor on a cushion and the table is low and into the floor... or you can sit on a regular... More

Brought the kids after the beach and we all were very happy with everything on our sushi boat!! The kids are insisting it is the best they have ever had and I am inclined to agree. We had all specialty rolls and loved them. The staff is very attentive and nice. Will absolutely go again.

We had tons of fun at this restaurant. Though Japanese restaurants aren't great for deserts so there is a great ice-cream place just outside. The sushi is very good, my two older kids loved it, but sushi is not cheap unless you get bad sushi.

I'll be brief. Yes they're busy...because it's very good. I'm a sushi fanatic. Often Japanese establishments try to be generous or such, and the item sizes are just too big. This makes each hard to eat in one bite, yet biting them in two is also tough with chop sticks. Shio has always prepared the items a, not smaller meaning... More

It's not the best sushi I've ever had but it's probably the best in the seacoast areA! Sashimi was ok, sliced too thick for my preference. Sushi has always been fresh and well rolled. Well run place.

Shio is our favorite sushi restaurant. It is often packed, so be prepared to wait, but the food is worth it.

Had a a really great meal! Went with 4 friends and we each ordered a different roll and a couple different Nigiri. There were 8 pieces per roll so there was plenty for all of us. It came served on a large wooden boat and everything was sooo good. We even ordered a couple more rolls because we were enjoying... More

I've been eating sushi for some 35 years all over the world, including Japan. Most sushi restaurants in the U.S. are run by Chinese or Koreans, and you can tell the difference. Similarly, the vast majority of sushi chefs are not Japanese. If you are a real sushi fan, try to find one owned and managed by Japanese with Japanese... More
