5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

When recently spending two nights (mini-vacation) in Portsmouth, we decided to try Cava, based on other's reviews of the place on Trip Advisor. We were thoroughly impressed by the creativity of the food and the wine menu, as well. The service was also excellent. The "small plate" menu all looked great, and we were having difficulty on deciding what to... More

Delicious food. Definitely Spanish-style tapas, so know that that's what you are going to get . . . but if you like that kind of thing, these were awesome. We had the shrimp for dinner; so good we ordered it for dessert, too. Service sharp and attentive, but not pushy.

We stopped here for an after dinner drink. My husband had a glass of wine and I had the best espresso martini that I have ever had! We chatted with the owners who were so friendly and accommodating! At the end of our visit they brought us out a small tray of cubed pineapple drizzled with pomegranate molasses and lime... More

We chose Cava for a special night out and were lucky to get reservations at the Chef's Table, overlooking the open kitchen and prep area. Picking interesting tapas from the ala carte menu, we greatly enjoyed our dining experience and were well taken care of the entire evening. We especially enjoyed the chickpea fries, tuna cruda with watermelon, Serrano ham,... More

This was our second visit to Cava. This time it was for a drink after dinner. A sparkling rose and some great company. We have been there previously and love the unique dishes and small plates variety they offer.

A summer evening, the cava flowed and life was good. The menu was not extensive in comparison with some European tapas restaurants but what was on offer was generally of a good standard. Would recommend the cheese, and the romesco underpinning the artichoke dish was great. Service was of the sort that reminded you there were customers to follow, and... More

The artichokes are among the tastiest things I've ever eaten. Paloma Spicy margarita variation hit the spot. Waiting for my baby octopus, but ready to give 5 stars now. Pristine setting and excellent service. Superb!

Don't let the face that this gem is not right on the water keep you from missing the food, the wine, the awesome service! We had a nice bottle of rose and 4 tapas dished between the 2 of us. We could have eaten more, but (and this is my only complaint) the kitchen closes at like 9:30. I do... More

Good food and wonderful service! Sat at the chef's bar and enjoyed watching them prepare the food! Chef was friendly and always willing to answer questions. Could sit for hours and enjoy! Recommend.
