My husband and I love trying new recipes at home, many ethnicities, and we love trying different restaurants. It takes a special restaurant with special service to make us want to go back since there are so many restaurants to visit and we make such great meals at home. Cava is a restaurant we will definitely go back too. Many... More

We enjoyed the tastes, loved the duck and the scallop. Please make them a bit bigger. We ordered two ducks - one was nice sized and the other (later in the evening) was tiny!. Great intimate atmosphere and the nicest waitresses.

I love tapas and have eaten at tapas restaurants in NYC, Boston and Barcelona Spain. Cava is right up there with the best of them. The menu is not traditional, each item has a very unique blend of flavors and unexpected twists. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary, and decided to go with the chef's tasting menu to... More

My wife just loves tapas and the ability to sample lots of different items on the menu. Well, this has to be the best tapas restaurant we have ever been. It's a small place and the only reservation you can make for two is at the chef's table, essentially a bar next to the cooking area. Don't let this put... More

We stopped in on a rainy day intending to just have a glass of wine and some cheese. We ended up with 4 tapas because each one was amazing. The downstairs bar area is cozy with brick walls and many drink selections. A great place to meet friends or a date. It's down a small alley. Worth a visit!

We ordered five different tapas plates to share. The first item, Pan Con Tomate & Garrotxa was one slice of bread halved with tomato and cheese on top...very average. The second item, the Chickpea Fries were good and the best dish of them all. The third item, the Crispy Pork Belly was undercooked and not crispy. The fourth item, the... More

I would visit for tapas much more often if wasn't so difficult to get a table. The atmosphere is pleasant, the food tasty and creative, and the service professional. My problem is that we usually can't get a table so we go somewhere else. Some restaurants don't take reservations but this isn't one of them. Instead, they take in-person reservations... More

Arrived around 8 pm on a Wednesday without reservations... they were fine with it, sat outdoors it was in the 70's very comfortable. Portsmouth was a regular destination for us in the past 10-20 years but haven't been since...WOW has it developed! Didn't know this alley was here... colonial America at its best. We had a bottle of CANA Albarino...... More

Obsessed. If you don't love it here - great! That means more room for me. I cannot get enough. Delicious, perfect and delicious.

We recently made an attempt to return to Cava after having a subpar experience on our first visit last summer. That time, we (2 of us) arrived without a reservation. The hostess was a bit condescending when we said we had not reserved. With the attitude of doing us a favor, we were seated in their downstairs area. After the... More
