Best Italian restaurante in mount Washington Valley.

Vitos is a family owned, has great atmosphere and food.Be prepared to wait for a table and for your food. Prices are not cheap and service varies , at times has been excellant but other times wait staff is not around when needed. But these occasional minor flaws do not take away from it being one of the best restaurants in the North Conway area. Good for couples and small groups but not recommended for young children or very large groups

Try the takeout service - it's great

With the restaurant being closed due to the virus, we tried the takeout service. Our favorite meal, the Drunken Sirloin is not on the takeout menu so we called ahead the day before to see if Chef Vito could accommodate us. And he did! We had the steak, which is huge, perfectly cooked with the side and sauces with their great salad. A server wearing gloves and a mask,brings your order to your car. They already processed your credit card so just slip her a gratuity and you're on your way. The food was piping hot and delicious.

Superb Italian Food

We ordered take out since we were too late to make a reservation. I had the Antipasto with the veal Piccatta. Both were superb. The service was great and the food, when we picked it up, was hot and cooked perfectly. Next time my family comes to visit I will be sure to make reservations well in advance !

Can someone explain to me why it takes an hour and a half for takeout food. Meatballs probably in a sauce all day, salad 5 minutes to put together, shrimp cocktail chilled probably already to serve, and veal parmesan with penne pasta which may have been the longest item to prepare. The sign on the front door said if you were sitting down for a meal inside the restaurant please limit yourself to an hour and a half and yet I did not even get my food for an hour and 40 minutes. Will never go here again.

Vito is a jerk!

Tonight we went to Vito Marcellos for our friends birthday. We were having a great time until we told our server our steaks were very tough. Our server, who was such a sweetheart said she would be back and took both $44 dishes back to the kitchen. Moments later, she returned with tears in her eyes and stated Vito would not compensate us in any way. It wasn’t until we threaten to leave and not pay that Vito finally took one steak off the bill. As we waited for him to come out thinking he was going to apologize, we ordered some after dinner drinks and espresso. Within seconds, Vito comes out to say not to serve us anymore and to leave his restaurant immediately, which we did with absolute embarrassment. As we were getting into our vehicles, he followed us out to make sure we got off his property. Honestly, I have never been so embarrassed and I expressed what a shame he is to Italians and to compound the issue, we are from Cranston like Vito. You would think he would have been more grateful but this poor excuse of a man, small business owner and fellow Italian has certainly let success get in the way of remembering where he comes from. We shall never again return. Thanks for ruining our night Vito.

Extremely Disappointed

We ordered takeout. You can no longer do this by phone so we had to create an online account. We ordered 3 regular meals, a gf meal, and a Caesar salad. The gf meal was upcharged $5 but promised a gf roll with it. Upon pickup we discovered that while we were charged the $5 there were no rolls. At pickup we asked to confirm the pasta was gf. The man was very annoyed at having to check the order. We did not check the salad because we thought they would not mess that up. When we got to our condo we saw there was no Caesar salad despite us being charged for it. My husband called to get a credit. He was put on hold for 10 minutes and then put back on hold again. After 20 minutes someone said they would call him back. When she did finally call back she tried to argue we had the correct salad (nope). After 45 minutes we wound up with a $6 credit. The staff was unhelpful at every turn. This was frustrating enough but for what they charge I would have expected more than just your average Italian food. Their gluten free pasta was supposed to be imported from Italy but tasted no better than the box of Stop & Shop gluten free pasta I make at home. Everyone else said their food was average at best. Also, please know that this is not a family friendly establishment. There are signs all over the restaurant and website telling you to make sure your child does not leave their seat.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are experiencing product shortages like everyone else due to the pandemic. You were given a refund for your complimentary roll ($2.00) which you requested and a refund for the Demi Caesar salad you did not receive. It was unfortunate for the long wait over the phone. We are short-staffed as is every restaurant in the valley. We hope your $8.00 refund is satisfactory.

Great Italian Food

This was the first time we visited Vito Marcello's as it was recommended by many people and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing and fresh from the bread and oil, the delicious salad all the way to dessert and cocktails. We even bought some of their homemade Italian dressing to take home, they also sell their sauce which is delicious! The service was quick and extremely friendly, our waiter Anthony was very attentive. The restaurant is following all COVID protocols and made us feel safe and welcome. We will definitely be back!

Great Start Bad Ending

The food was good, but after ordering two pre meal cocktails, an appetizer, two entrees, and two after dinner drinks, it was rudely suggested by the bar tender after payment and generous tip were paid, that we relinquish our bar seats for others to be served even though I had half a glass of wine left and my partner had a little of his cocktail left. My partner quickly finished his cocktail, then pounded my half glass of wine, and we left. What started out as a great beginning ended in a horrible experience. In all our travels, we have never been treated this rudely. Because of our treatment, I will not endorse Via Marcella’s Italian Bistro in North Conway.

Hostility - versus - Hospitality : look after the employees and they will look after the owner

A confirmed reservation for 6pm was not honored. Instead the male, bald greeter; told us, and 20 to 25 other guests to wait in a hot, dry, dusty car park to be seated. At 6:35pm, our names were called. We walked into a restaurant with ample tables and very few wait staff. Herein lies the problem. Food was delicious, ample portions - way too large. The reason I gave the restaurant 2 stars and would not recommend, is the unfriendliness of the Front Desk greeter and the fact of not honoring the reservation. Hospitality versus Hostility . Other restaurants, in North Conway, notable Barley and Salt, pay their employees handsomely and look after them. This establishment does not - and it is clear by the empty tables and lack of staffing; short term profit - equals long term losses. Doomed for failure, despite awesome food.

Little Italy in North Conway

First, our waitress Kelly, her second day as a server, was amazing. On day 2 of her serving career, she was better than any other waitress we've had in this area eating out, for over 20 years. Some people just have a knack for it and Kelly is a natural. She was perfect. I don't give compliments lightly and I can't ever remember saying any waitress was perfect, but Kelly was just that, perfect. Okay, now about the food. We began with a couple meatballs to taste the sauce, a kid's portion of Alfredo, again to taste the sauce, and a Caesar salad. All were excellent. No one can eat any of those 3 things and say it was not delicious. Period. No debate. Then came some fresh bread and a couple house salads. Both excellent. The bread's dipping oil was just ok. Not even close to Varano's in Wells, ME where the dipping sauce is hands down the best I've ever tasted. Anyway, we then moved on to the Chicken Parmigiana and Chicken Florentine. Both were fantastic. We finished with the cannoli cake that was just okay (would not order it again), the vanilla gelato, which was terrific, and a tiramisu that was very delicious. All in all I'd say this place is the best Italian you can get north of Laconia. If you haven't tried it, you might want to do so. Make a reservation though, it's always booked well in advance. I'd give the food an 8 out of a possible 10. We will be back to try other menu items for sure.

We know everyone has different tastes with different items, and that's ok, but we strive to make sure the right ingredients make their way to the right places for a truly unique experience with us. Perfect patio dining

We dined here this past week and were more than pleasantly surprised by how good it was. The patio was lovely with linens and real silverware and plates, unlike many places doing outdoor dining right now. Our dinners all came with a salad (rare these days) and everyone’s meals were excellent. We will definitely be back!

Terrible service. An hour and ten minutes into our reservation mid desert and with a drink half full the waitress snarkily told us "just so you know the next reservation is here". The reservation is for an hour and a half, we are regulars and knew immediately what we were ordering. Service was slow from the appetizer, salad and meal. It took a long time after finishing for a desert menu to be brought over. An hour and ten minutes isn't unreasonable to try and enjoy a meal as a couple. The food was good but not worth getting barked at by the waitstaff because they want to move on to the next tip as quickly as possible.

I was looking for pasta to carb load before a big hike, so I came here without much thought. I was very pleasantly surprised by the food. It was a Friday night and I was surprised to find there was a wait for a table, but I was alone and there was a spot at the bar which was perfect. The gnocchi a la vodka was delicious, and it seems everything comes with bread and a salad as well which were great. Too much dressing on the salad for my liking. I usually order dressing on the side to avoid this but I was thrown off by not realizing I was getting a salad. It was still very good. Servers were very friendly and fast. I would definitely return.

Great Atmosphere, Great Food

I just want to start by saying that during this time with a pandemic, their attention to detail was some of the best we’ve seen while in North Conway. They wiped down everything we could possibly touch, every worker had a mask, and every other table was intentionally left empty. The atmosphere in the main room was stunning, and the service was exemplary. Every meal we ordered was perfect, we couldn’t come up with a complaint if we tried, and everything was visually pleasing. To top it off, my espresso and tiramisu were a perfect finish.

Our Dinner from Vitos

So this was an impromptu idea for dinner one night on our vacation to North Conway, and we were all glad we decided to try it. We ordered several different dishes and decided to just split it up amongst the group which we were glad we did as the portions were much bigger then what we expected. We had lasagna, pasta, meatballs, chicken Parmesan, bread and the very interesting toasted ravioli which I had never heard of before. The lasagna was interesting, I’ve never had a lasagna that used an orange marinara instead of a red sauce, but it worked well with the ground sausage that was in the lasagna. The pasta was cooked very well, and it tasted fresh. It was one of the best lasagnas I’ve ever gotten from an Italian restaurant. The toasted ravioli I was slightly skeptical on as I’ve never heard of anyone doing ravioli in this manner, however I think it was my favorite thing we ordered in our meal. It had an interesting texture and the flavor was amazing, it had a perfect cheese to pasta ratio and was cooked perfectly. You have got to try these if you eat here, take my advice you will not be sorry that you tried them!! My girlfriend had the chicken Parmesan which we had made with grilled chicken and gluten free pasta instead of the fried chicken due to her gluten allergy, it was quite delicious and the pasta was cooked nicely which is great as gluten free pasta can be difficult to cook correctly. The meatballs were awesome and this is something I would definitely recommend you have to try if you get a meal from this restaurant. It was a take out order, so I cannot speak on the restaurant itself and/or the staff of the restaurant as I was not volunteered to pick the order up this time..so all I can do is speak on the food which was delicious.
