I am a fan of MT and Surf in Nashua, so I know what to expect when at any one of these connected establishments. First I do have the mention the service was friendly and attentive. The calamari came out and it was cooked perfectly,...however the salt that was added after cooked was beyond excessive. I love salt too. The plate was about 3/4 full and was thrown away. Bartender did ask about it and offered another one which I declined cause the meal would be enough. Calamari was still on the bill. So 45/50 min later the rib eye I ordered Med-rare came out. It was cold, the sides were also stone cold. At this point the place was closing and I said to myself I would just have left overs to heat up. I did try and salvage the money I wasted and make steak and eggs the next AM but the steak was not only cold from the night before, it was completely raw, it was purple raw inside! This ended my effort to salvage anything cause the sides would be at risk now in the same box as raw steak. I know things happen and we are all human and make mistakes. However I paid the price for it.More

The place is very nice to eat at. Has an open area with a bar and also a series of small rooms with just a few tables. Food is very good. Our waiter was excellent. He was very personable. One bad thing is parking is...very hard to find. Their lot was packed and so is there overflow parking.More

I haven't been to Buckley's Great Steaks in quite a while. I was introduced to the restaurant several years ago by a friend, who recently passed, so I went last night as an homage to that friend. I have another great friend who is visiting...the area from Vietnam and he was hankering for a prime rib - which he cannot get in Hanoi. So, I brought him to Buckely's last night! He'll be here for two more weeks, and told my wife and I this morning that he wants to return before he gets on the plane. Our experience was THAT great! We each got a 12-oz cut - he ordered the 'standard' prime rib while I requested the pan-blackened prime rib. His cut was medium rare, while I like mine REALLY well done... so, he and I are obviously at polar ends of the spectrum when it comes to how we like our steak cooked. Our server further asked us whether we would prefer a more marbled cut or a leaner cut... we both opted for the leaner cut. I cannot be sure who enjoyed their dinner more - him or me! He was in his glory. The meat was lean and cooked perfectly. My pan-blackened dinner was probably my favorite prime rib of all time. It was SPECTACULAR! I know most people don't like their steak well-done - often because they feel the meat gets too dry while being cooked. My pan-blackened cut was lean and quite moist... and extremely flavorful! The glazed carrots were fabulous! The food was almost a great as the service. Sadly, I cannot recall our server's name, but she inspired me to fill out a comment card to sing her praises. My friend and I will almost certainly return to Buckley's before he gets back on a plane to return to southeast Asia. He is desperate for one more GREAT prime rib before he departs... Two BIG thumbs up! Thanks, Buckley's...More

Amazing dinner start to finish. Staff was incredibly attentive throughout our meal as well as someone (perhaps and owner) came over as we were having dessert to ask how everything was. We had oysters on the half shell and cocktail shrimp for appetizers. Served icy...cold and with wonderful sauces. So many great side dishes were offered with our steaks. The whipped potatoes were yummy (though not very hot), pickled beats were so good, love the big chunks of beats. Our steaks were perfectly cooks and absolutely delicious, one USDAPrime strip and the other Delmonico, even asked less fat or more on the Delmonico! Peach cobbler with vanilla I e cream perfect ending.More

Great meal with lots of attention to details. Very good atmosphere and impeccable service. Brittany was great. Caesar salad was delicious. The steaks were done perfectly. Brussel sprouts, mushrooms and asparagus were done with attention to cooking it just right.

8 of us went on a Friday night. Three had fish, three prime rib, one filet and a cowboy steak. I was the one with the cowboy steak. I love beef and had the cowboy steak I was seriously disappointed when I got mine medium...to a little more cooked than medium. After everyone finished their meal, my properly cooked steak came back. I ate very quickly so as not to delay everyone in leaving. I was charged for the steak and did receive any consideration for their mistake. We spent about $800 for the group. I think I will spend my money more wisely elsewhereMore

Went here for my husband's birthday weekend of Jan. 17, 2021 The restaurant is very cozy, and feels like you are eating dinner in someone's home. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. Our server was lovely, shared the specials and knew the menu well and helped...us with all our questions. Kudos to her for that. My husband had the raw oysters as his AP, of which his one disappointment was they did not come with Wasabi and Horseradish. For people who eat them, this is standard. The oysters themselves were very good. I had the Shrimp Cocktail. Comes with 3, which were big, cold and very fresh. Cocktail sauce was on point. Plenty for 1 person. I had a Shirley Temple, really good! I cannot have alcohol. Hubby had makers and coke. Good drink, apparently. Bread basket was ok, nothing to rave about, but for us, it did not mean much. However, it took 30-40 minutes between the time our APS were finished until the entrees arrived. Our server was very sweet and apologized, sharing it was not the norm. But in all fairness, we are all handling the pandemic the best way that we can, and we need to learn to be more patient. The food finally arrived. I ordered the 8 oz. filet with a demi glaze, fingerling potatoes and green beans served with hollandaise sauce. For me, the qty. of sauce was just too much considering the small amount of beans offered, and it was not hot. I also would suggest they offer a 6 oz. for those of us that want a smaller cut. The steak was cooked perfectly medium, although, again, it could have been served hotter. The presentation for me as a whole, felt a bit odd; as the potatoes and green beans were served in side dishes, and the steak was alone. Not a huge deal, but it felt disjointed to me. Again, could have been served hotter, which is my biggest pet-peeve.🤷‍♀️ Hubby had the Rib-eye, which he said was a choice cut vs. prime, which he was surprised about. But, he enjoyed it. It was cooked as ordered, medium. His sides were whipped-mashed potatoes and roasted cauliflower. He expected the potatoes to be creamier and hotter, but the cauliflower he liked a lot, and said was hotter. He also was not a fan of the food presentation, with sides being served separate. For his birthday dessert, he ordered, what was described to be - a snickers cake. With all respect, it tasted nothing of the sort. There were no peanuts, no nougat which makes it taste like a snickers. It was a chocolate layered cake. This was a bit disappointing. Not a deal breaker, but should be noted. All of our comments were shared with our server, and she did say she would share them with the staff. So, as a whole, it was a bit off, with some hits and misses. For what we paid, it could have been a better experience..More

My husband and I went to Buckley's for our 18th anniversary this past October and had such a wonderful meal. Literally we could not have had a more perfect or enjoyable dinner. For starters we had the Wedge salad and the special of the day...which was tempura rock shrimp. Both were amazing. I had the meatloaf for my entree and I asked for a few substitutions with the sides and sauces and things and they happily got everything right. Husband had a burger that he loved. Always a huge treat to go to Buckley's.More

My husband and I went to Buckley's on a Tuesday evening for my birthday. We had a "just-in-case" reservation, but when we arrived the restaurant was not very busy. When walking in, we noticed that there were two pairs of open seats at the bar....We politely asked the hostess if we could sit at the bar, but were told the seats were reserved. For whatever reason, our reservation did not count for actual bar seating. Given how dead the tavern was, and that we were allowed to pick out any open table, this rubbed us the wrong way. We have only been to one restaurant where you can make advance reservations specifically for the bar, and that's only on Fridays and Saturdays. We ended up getting a drink while sitting at our table and in the 30 minutes we were at the restaurant both pairs of open bar seats, well, remained open. Frustrated by this, we decided to take our business elsewhere. It's a shame because we were really looking forward to trying their food. The kicker is, while we were there one couple at the bar went home and a single gentleman sat down in their place about five minutes later. We would be very surprised to hear that someone grabbing a drink and/or dinner by themselves called to make a bar seat reservation on a Tuesday night during COVID.More

Today is Veterans Day and as a treat they provide a free dinner for vets (oh the secret is out now). My son (a marine) and his family and I with my wife decide to try this place out. Normally, except for a very special...occasion, I would not go here because it is not cheap. I know more about the restaurant and less about you ...... The menu is a great mixture of a lot of great food items. The service was great. The atmosphere was quaint. The food was not quick but boy was it worth the wait. Everyone loved what they ordered but for me the slow roasted prime rib was over the top. It was juicy and just melted in your mouth. The vegetables were outstanding and the mashed potatoes were creamy. Again the service was great. So happy with our visit.More

I would not bring kids to this restaurant. It is upscale and pricey. I agree with Gene D who mentioned that it is more a special restaurant for couples rather than families.
