Phenomenal!

As former patrons of the old iteration of CR's (when it was CR Sparks in Bedford), we finally made it to their current location, and it didn't disappoint. Everything from soup to nuts and service and decor and atmosphere and everything in between exceeded our expectations, one of the best dining experiences we've had in years. Tanya our bartender / server was a delight and makes a mean cocktail. Food was outstanding - some of the best crab cakes I've ever had. So happy we finally ventured there and we're excitedly looking forward to your next visit.

Cozy Ambiance

We were warmly welcomed for our dinner reservation last Sunday evening. We chose CR’s for a small celebration and we made a great choice. The hosts, waitress and manager were incredibly attentive to their guests and made the atmosphere very welcoming. We were sat close to the fireplace which was perfect for a winters night. The menu is well thought out and the addition of a wine pairing to each dish was exciting. I chose the vegetable lasagna which was paired with a fantastic Sangiovese (my new favorite). The lasagna was filled with fresh vegetables and was complemented with a savory cheese sauce. My husband also loved the steak frites. My only recommendation to this restaurant is to sell their homemade rosemary hummus because I would buy it in bundles. Overall I would recommend CR’s to all of my friends.

A very happy birthday!

We celebrated my birthday with our first visit to this charming spot. The location is a little out of town making the accessibility and parking very easy. The decor is stylish but a bit dim away from the windows. Our booth was comfortable. The food was very good,but the star of the show was the service, right down to the complimentary brownie sundae for the occasion.

“Lip Service” Management - Use Extreme Caution!!

As a local, dropped in for quick bite hoping this place had new management. However, everyone was new except the Manager Jerry, which should tell you volumes! We even learned that most of the kitchen staff were new. In my humble experience, the best restaurants with truly outstanding food and service hire, train and retain the very best staff without high turnover and have the cleanest bathrooms (I believe the restrooms are a window into the “soul” of the kitchen. While unfair to the Chef, it speaks volumes about overall management). After 8 yrs of hoping, this fine dinning place has failed to meet even those most basic expectations. Instead, you will receive a McDonald’s-type experience with a high-priced menu under Jerry’s window-dressed management, all with a truly fake smile. Proceed with extreme caution!

Very nice place

Great atmosphere, have tried twice over the past 3 weeks, very comfortable, good food. Will try again. Not really a complaint, but rather my opinion was the Chicken Piccata had a very, very, strong Lemon flavor, more than expected, kind of overpowering. But overall multiple meals, from two visits, 8 people is positive.

A Hidden Gem

This is one of those place that slips your mind because it is off of the beaten path. It is a must visit! We had dinner here last night and had a great meal. We had the Bolognese and Pork Chop. The pasta was prepared with 4 meats and was in a rose type sauce. The pasta was fresh made in house. It was a great dish on a cold rainy night. My wife had the pork chop which was very thick, juicy and flavorful. It was served with a sweet potato and chorizo mash and sauteed spinach. The only complaint is the pork chop and sides could have been a little warmer. For dessert we had the creme brulee and apple bomb. The apple bomb is a must have. The restaurant is very nice and cozy and the service was above and beyond. They must be doing something right because they had plenty of seasoned staff on hand.

Went on “ Valentines weekend”.

Went on “ Valentines weekend”. The restaurant is well decorated and very cozy. We were disappointed that a wine that was suggested for a dish ( the baked haddock) was not available. To suggest and not have is not a good practice. But the food was excellently prepared and absolutely delicious !!! We even had dessert which we don’t ordinarily order. The cannoli cake was out of this world. Dense and delicious. The creme brûlée was salted caramel and to die for. The service was wonderful and our waiter was very polite and knowledgeable. We think the special weekend menu and suggested wines were out of the ordinary. We sincerely hope so. We would love to visit again, just to see if that was the case. You will not be disappointed in the service or the food here!!

Calamari too spicy

We enjoy CR very much, with another couple the four of us have found CRs to be a great mix of seafood and beef in Pleasant atmosphere with great service. The only thing I wanna call out is the fried calamari. It was extremely spicy to the point where it was barely edible. I asked if there was a way to have it at the hot peppers not be included and I was told no, so it’s not a problem we can pick those out however, the seasoning on the calamari was equally spicy. Just wish we had a heads up and we would have skipped that item. Shrimp cocktail chowder, prime rib. Salmon was excellent and of course dessert was wonderful. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. (Except on the calamari)

Great place, except for the food.

The restaurant and bar are very attractive, pleasant and comfortable, though the tables are a bit small for a meal of several courses, bread & drinks etc. Greeting at host station was very friendly and the service was excellent. The meal, not great. On recommendation from a friend, I ordered the veal chop, prepared medium. I did not confirm this with the kitchen, but my guess is that they prepared the dish sous vide, but did not sear the chop, and what came to the table was a bland slab of meat without much flavor or texture. Regardless of the fact that it was priced at $52, it was not what I expected, and I felt that it was not a respectful treatment of the food. My wife had a similar experience with her scallops, though I cannot guess how they were prepared. Appetizer and side dishes were ok, though over-salted. We were there on a Wednesday night.

Not as good as before.

Hadn't been for a while (was a little disappointing last time but gave another chance) so stopped in for lunch. I had chowder & had a spoonful of thickening stuff off the bat. Not pleasant. Then lobster tacos, the filling was good, but corn taco was not cooked to enjoyment. My wife had fish & chips & found them soggy. Sad experience for a place where we had many good meals.

Service was OK. Not too friendly. Lobster tacos were awful. Dry and very small. Beet salad was bitter and not even three slices of beets. Beautiful restaurant but prices fairly high. I would not go back.

Server attitude dampened experience

We went because the menu was intriguing and locally sourced. The appetizers were good, filet mignon was dry, halibut was good. Our server, a full-bodied woman with dark hair pulled back, was functional, but rude--not by being crabby or mean, but by being condescending. We usually tip generously unless service is very poor, but we can’t give high marks for the food, nor for the climate created by the server, which did not at all match the overall ambience of the restaurant. Won’t be returning.

Bad service at the bar and mediocre food....at BEST. Expensive!

I wish the food was better as the atmosphere is lovely. However, I went on a busy night and sat at the bar. It was quite full with mostly couples. The bartender looked at me and didn't bring me a placemat and setting or a menu or ask if I wanted a drink. I waited and waited ....and waited. The bartender kept giving me a swiping glance, but still nothing. About 10 minutes went by and a young couple came in to sit at the bar and got served place settings and waters right away and was asked what they wanted to drink. The man sitting next to me, part of a couple, leaned over and said, "You are being VERY patient!" I said, no I'm not; leaving. Having said that, when CRs was Bonta the food was inconsistent like CRs menu but food used to have much better quality at Bonta than CRs. Again, too bad as its a lovely location close to home and I'd probably would frequent the place once or twice a month. Too bad!

Our first time, but it won't be our last

Took our family to dinner while visiting for one night. Really enjoyed ourselves. From our first glance upon entering, we knew we were in for a delightful evening. Warm and elegant best describe the decor. Waitstaff was professional and efficient, and our meals were all very good. Only some minor distractions keep us from giving CR's 5 stars. They offer a well apportioned wine, beer and cocktail list, good variety on the menu, and a nice variety of breads to enjoy while perusing the menu. Will definitely return.

We were tired when we arrived at our hotel in Hampton, NH and we weren't sure where we would find a restaurant. Then we saw an attractive looking restaurant across the street from our hotel, CR's the Restaurant. The parking lot was full and when I looked online it was fully booked, but we decided to walk over anyway to see if they could accommodate us. We were able to be seated at a small table at the bar. We ordered a Caesar salad which was delicious. I had the roasted halibut, and my husband had the crispy skin salmon. Both meals came with sides. The meals were beyond delicious, and memorable. The dinners are reasonably priced. We topped off the meal with the Guiness brownie. We had delicious meals during our trip to NH and ME, but CR's, by far, was the top restaurant for us. The decor of the restaurant is stunning. I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. My only regret is that we don't live closer as we would be there quite often!!
