Our family has been visiting Hatteris village for over 35 years. By far this is the best bakery we have ever visited Not only in North Carolina but throughout my travels in the eastern United States. Stopped by (after carefully reviewing the hours online) after several unsuccessful stops when closed (it was during the Spring) and wasn't that impressed with the selections. That said, it appeared to have a booming business for breakfast, but I was hunting for dessert stuff at...the time. Cookies seemed just average to me based on other bakeries on the island but perhaps they specialize in cakes, etc.More

Arrived the Saturday after Hatteras opened to tourists after Dorian and had to wait five long days for the bakery to open. Tried the Orange Blossom and found it no comparison - though if you're just looking for a doughnut or breakfast sandwich, the Orange...Blossom is what you want. My husband remembered it from last year, and the most disappointing thing this year is that they were already out of the bread he loved by the time he got there around 10. But they did have croissants and pain de chocolat and cinnamon rolls and Danish and cupcakes and a whole case of big squares of different cheesecakes and other treats, just to mention a few things that caught his attention. Great place, and everything is as delicious as it looks, I am told. (I'm gluten-free, but noted one gluten-free option posted. Looked away quickly but think it was chili-infused chocolate, which sounds delicious too.)More

Just go you won't be sorry. So many choices and all so very good. Grab yourself a loft of"SUICIDE BREAD"and see if you can get back to where you're staying without finishing it off. Enjoy

Just stopped in for a scone, left with the scone, plus cheesecake, brownies and cookies! Well worth the trip. The brownies were very chocolaty and large enough for two. Make sure you go early; they close at noon and sell out quickly.

Stopped in for some delicious baked goods, and so glad we did! First, step in the door and that wonderful aroma of fresh baked yumminess hits you, and then you see the display of all the many goodies available. Everything we tried was delicious, and...we know our days of driving down to Orange Blossom for an Apple Ugli are long gone. No, it's not cheap, but nothing on Hatteras Island is. So glad a true from scratch bakery is on the island; strongly recommend you stop in. Pretty much guarantee once you do, it won't be your last.More
