Was in VC for My husbands birthday week July 9th. Heard all the locals and visitors talk about gospel fried chicken so had to have it!! The absolute best chicken I have ever had! No bones only white meat battered in yum mines and fried to perfection, served with mashed potatoes , awesome gravy slaw and the sweetest corn off... More

Located on the very south part of Virginia City, Cafe del Rio is located in the historic Werrin Building, formerly a grocery store and room house, and the main dining room features rock walls Their brunch menu, starting on Sunday's at 10 am, offers a dozen interesting dishes. Their enchiladas are excellent, and you can mix and match beef, chicken... More

Took our early dinner at 4 after 2 hrs walking the boardwalk and before our drive back to Tahoe. Previous reviews spot on. Small dining surroundings & casual feel overlook a kitchen I usually see in a fine dining restaurant. Impressed with its cleanliness and the 2 chefs I observed working like a well oiled machine. The taste of our... More

This cafe was recommended by the owner of Virginia City Inn, just down the road, and suggested we get the Gospel Chicken ( It was a sunday evening). It was delicious and the atmosphere and decor was wonderful.

Three words Gospel Chicken Salad. Delicious and fresh. Also love the mahi mahi tostada. Was a little short staffed so service a little surly. And the margs way too weak. Other than that , delicious

We were extremely pleased at Cafe Del Rio. The service was excellent and you saw many locals there (including the sheriff) so that says something! Went for lunch based on previous comments. Was visiting Virginia city for the day. This place is a little outside the main action of the town (the entire town is in the middle of no... More

Long walk to the top end of the main street, but worth it. We had lunch items - very tasty, some dishes spicy and fast, friendly service.

I've eaten at just about every high end place from Vegas to Reno and for what this place does, it doesn't get enough credit. Brian is an extremely talent chef. The kitchen staff executes to a T. The dishes are authentic, everything is so well balanced. It's worth the drive. I went on back to back days when I stayed... More
