My wife and I came to Reno for the first time in June. We tried the Awful Awful and it was AWESOME! The cook was fast and very good at his job. We lost about a hundred in the casino on various machines. That is...the way gambling goes sometimes. I heard that they might be closing in the near future. Hopefully after covid passes they reopen and more people can get a chance at an Awful Awful burger. You will not be disappointed!More

After watching a Travel Channel show which had the Awful Awful Burger, I decided to take the plunge. It was the most disappointing burger I've ever tried. The burger was overcooked and lacked flavor. The service was the only positive highlight.

In the 30 or so years conning to Reno, I have only seen this place remodeled once. The casino is so old and so is the carpeting. The restaurant, even though it obviously passes health inspection, is in dire need of remodeling. Considering how popular...this place is, money is obviously not the issue. The food, Aweful-Aweful Burger and fries are still huge. The soda is generic and recommend filtered water instead. The counter is typically ignored and seldom cleaned, especially when there are huge crowds such as during Hot August Nights week. I sat next to woman and her date, we were shoulder to shoulder because her date didn't make enough room. At the end of the meal she questioned, "What ever happened to ladies first?" Sorry, but this is America, ladies first is an act of gender inequality. If she was expecting to be treated first, she should have said something to her date. In America, women are expected to be treated with equality and expected to treat others equally. It's actually against the law to show preferences in regards to gender, in addition to certain other issues. So I'm hoping she wasn't expecting me to give up my space for her? I was there first. Considering the generic soda, the lack of attention to maintaining a clean place for people to eat, next time I'll order to go. It's a small place, so sitting close to someone is expected.More

I was in Reno for a 3 day conference and on my last night I was out late looking for a place to eat. After getting an app at one place, I wanted the $5 prime rib but the elevator and stairs were out of...order (?), so I ended up at the Little Nugget Diner, truly a little diner tucked in in the corner of the casino. Having never heard of it, I had to go with the star of the show, the Awful Awful. After 15 minutes, I received the big juicy, sloppy-ass burger on a mountain of skinny, seasoned fries. If you like this sort of thing, then you'll like this meal, its great. Plus you can grab a cheap beer from the casino bar, still cheap there. But after consuming nearly the whole meal, and enjoying it with audible grunts and near giggles, Things started for the worse. I felt like I'd been hot with a tranquilizer gun and stumbled back to my hotel, staggering from eating too much. I didn't seem like so much food, but probably the visit to the dispensary and consumption of edibles influenced my mind's appetite. I tried to sleep and couldn't lay on my stomach, kept waking up with the sweats. Never felt sick or nauseous, but it was like Kuato was trying to get out of my belly button. In the morning I felt terribly hung over, and didn't eat until my layover after which I was recovered. So, 1) Go very hungry and be cautious about being too high or 2) split it and enjoy the rest of your night. Definitely on the Mount Rushmore of late night burgers.More

We were staying downtown and thought we would give it a try. The cafe is at the back of a casino so the atmosphere is a little low life. The menu is limited but what they have is good. Service is excellent. I will go...back but won't bring the grandchildren.More

This cafe is one of my reno favorites. I am just as excited with a good good dive as a five star classy dining establishment. You step thru the front door into a very well worn casino , so head directly to the back where...the cafe is located order at the cash register then go find a seat. This is a very loud place so when she calls out your number it's somewhere in the 130 decibel range. First time in get the famous awful awful burger it's big enough to split for two. The staff is terrific they work at top speed their whole shift . So be kind these are some very good people.More

Arrived at Reno late, so nipped out to little nugget diner and glad we did.. The Awful Awful was great, and the mozzarella sticks where class! Shame about the stale smoke smell of place but that is a bit of the character I suppose.

Started going to the Little Nugget diner about 20 years ago and had the Awful Awful burger back then for I think $3.99 or $4.99. Today the burger is $10.50 and still worth it! 1/2 pound burger with a pound of fries this burger is...excellent! The diner itself has grown from a six seat counter in the back of a small casino, to that same six seat counter but they have taken casino machines out and added tables to the back of the casino.More

I wandered into the Little Nugget with the promise of a legendary burger. The Awful Awful is a giant cheeseburger on an onion bun with special sauce. The fries that come with it are also a massive portion. It is A+ greasy diner food though...and I give it a solid recommendation. I will say though, I'm not sure how it made it on all these food shows they have signs for. The atmosphere of an old smoky casino diner has a bit of nostalgic Americana charm to me as well. This is far from a polished buffet or restaurant. Give it a shot if you like these types of dives.More
