I really enjoy the Basque lunch and dinner customs - family style meals, common tables that encourage interaction between diners, solid no-nonsense food. I've been to two of the restaurants in Reno specializing in Basque food, and this one is by far superior. It's a run-down old hotel, worn linoleum, takes you back in time to sit in the dining... Absolutely tasty Basque food in a typical Basque hotel setting - not fancy, but a true cultural experience. The food was not fancy but just plain good - best lamb shanks I believe I've ever had.

This place is a truly unique experience. I will admit, it's not for everyone; not quite five stars. The ambiance is VFW hall or church basement. Folding tables covered with oilcloth. Mismatched dinette chairs. Communal seating. Limited menu. But the food is great. Everyone knows a home cook who can prepare simple, classic food with effortless excellence, and that's what... More

WOW, what a terrible restaurant, we should have gone to Louis Basque instead. Our mistake. We used to live in Reno and have gone to many Basque places but never Santa Fe. The soup and first courses were OK but not great. The main courses - lamb shanks and steak - were terrible. The shanks were tough and covered in... More

We got here during a Reno Aces ball game, and there was no one in the dining room. It was a Friday night, and we were not early, so we wondered what the problem was. We had a glass of wine in the bar while part of our group parked (difficult with the game and another event on). A local... More

Decided to have a Basque dinner while in Reno. Good choice! Park in Harrah's lot and exit on Lake and there you are. Family style dinners start serving at 6PM. More food than you normally eat, but darn good. Very, very friendly staff.

This is a nice place to get family-style Basque food. It's not gourmet food, but definitely stick-to-your-ribs food. I like Saturday nights when you can get both lamb stew and lamb shanks.

When they say family style they mean it. You get included with dinner soup, salad, side of beans, main dish, side dish, a bottle of red wine, and dessert Vella Cheese and ice cream. Food was excellent and service was fantastic. We arrived when there was a party of 21 and our waitress never skipped a beat. Bravo girls!! I... More

We try and go for the appetizers before the aces game. We always get the lamb chops, meatball sliders, and French fries. You can't beat the price and the food is awesome!

A unique opportunity to have a traditional Basque meal served family style. The Basque are an important part of the local history. The food is plentiful. Come hungry. Be prepared to sit at a table with people you haven't yet met. Appreciate another culture.
