Worst experience ever. I've worked in the food industry for more than 10 years and I have never seen such a POOR costumer service and food quality in my life. We placed an order over the phone with a lady who could barely speak English...or even understand it at all, i had to almost yell over the phone to place my order. I asked them among the other things ONE sweet and sour pork with extra sauces for it on the side. However when we picked up the order and got home at the other side of town we found 4 sweet and sour pork instead of one. We called immediately to tell them they misunderstood the order and they refused to give us any refund unless WE take the food back even though they screw it up. I have NEVER seen in all the restaurants I worked in people getting their rightful refunds kept HOSTAGE unless they return the food. We weren't even asking for a full refund, just asking for the extra things they added to be refunded and even then they refused and kept making poor excuses of. Then they added the excuse they needed the cards to do the refund, so they made us drive all the way back there, for absolutely nothing. The worst part is the food wasn't even decent. The fried rice had no flavor at all, like literally no flavor, even adding soy sauce it felt like we were eating white rice. The chow mein was awful, noodles were weird and over cooked . And the chicken was so over seasoned you had to take 2 spoonful's of rice with it to swallow it down. Absolutely disgusting service and disgusting food for the amount of money we had to pay and the waste of time and energy. Im pregnant and I did not enjoy one single thing out of this experience. Very rude and careless people, they will do ANYTHING to take your money and don't care about what they are serving.More

Husband and I had to search for a Chinese Restaurant as our usual spot was closed for remodeling. We went to the China East Restaurant on Virginia Street in Reno and we were happily surprised with the quality of the food. Pot stickers were very...good, the eggplant dish was fabulous, just spicy enough, and had small kind of crispy pieces of pork included. The other items on the menu were crispy fried fish which we will be returning to try. The service was prompt and very informative about some of the other items on and off the menu. Quite the experience. We will be back!!!More

Food was excellent and prices very reasonable. Asked for chop suey for lunch and the chef fixed it for me even though it wasn't on the lunch menu. I appreciate that kind of service!

Great place for a quick lunch with above average food. It has a large menu that will pretty much have any thing you like to order. I would recommend it for a tasty lunch.

Took a friend here for lunch last week. He was wanting Chinese food, and didn't know of a good place to go. I go here usually every 3 to 4 weeks with a different friend. He was very impressed with he food, quick, friendly service,...and very good food. Prices are very good. They offer a lot of lunch specials.More

This was the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER EXPERIENCED. I called my order in and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. I had 30 minutes for my lunch and when I got to China East I was told to sit and...wait. After 15 minutes, I asked the waiter if I could please get my order as I had to be back at work soon and still had to eat. He told me again to wait and then proceeded to tend to all the other customers in the restaurant. FInally and old chinese woman came up with my food, told me that "my appetizers were still cooking if I could wait, if not I could leave", then told me my price. I told her how much it of an inconvenience the whole experience was and she replied not once, but twice with "I"M NOT SORRY". PLEASE do not waste your time or money on this disrespectful establishment. she is a DISGRACE of a woman.More

This China East has been around for decades and it keeps going! It's sure not the beautiful building that's the draw, kinda run down, but it's the friendly service and consistently good food cooked properly. Parking is right in the lot. The food here is...all you classic American Chinese foods served family style or Western Style where each person gets their own plate. Some people have a thing with sharing I guess! But besides the classic dishes most mainstream customers know, like sweet and sour pork, egg rolls and chow mein, China East also serves real authentic Chinese dishes, the stuff they actually eat in China. There is NO Generals Chicken in China, at least nothing that would be recognized as that. Look for the Chef's Specialties section of the menu and you may see dishes such as Sautéed Pig Intestine with Pickled Mustard, or Salted Fish with Chicken and Tofu in Clay Pot or even Braised Pork Belly with Preserved Cabbage. We kept our order more on the familiar side with some of the best dang General's Chicken I ever had, along with fried rice and these onion pancakes. This Generals Chicken was better than most in that it wasn't all battered pork with thick batter and overly sweet sauce. The sauce had a nice tang to it and the meat tasted crispy as opposed to some places where it seem like a pork corn dog! The fried rice was better than most as it had this wonderful charred BBQ flavor you only get in good Chinese restaurants. The onion pancakes were OK, I'd skip that next time. Yes, the portions are good sized and the flavors really come through, so I have no idea what some reviewer though the food was bland here ... definitely not! The prices are very cheap too!More

Don't let curb appeal deter you from a great meal. I'm from out of town and did a Yelp review on the best sizzling rice soup in town and this one came up. I travel for a living and hands down the best sizzling rice...soup I have ever had, have not had too many dishes here besides the sizzling rice soup but my husband has had many choice and love them all. Great service too!More
