Middlegate Station was a wonderful base for exploring the nearby desert spots. The motel room was incredibly affordable at $30 a night, clean, comfortable, and flat-screen TV. The food and drink were fairly priced and very good while the staff was both friendly and helpful with local information.

If you're traveling on the country's Loneliest Highway, this is the perfect place to stop for something to eat and to stretch your legs! The burgers are absolutely delicious, with fresh buns and produce, and the onion rings were awesome! If you're not paying attention you might even drive right past this place, but it is worth the few minutes delay in your trip. It's old fashioned has the feel of an old saloon. I highly recommend you stop by and hang out for a bit!

We LOVE to travel! One day last year while I was doing research for our next vacation, I stumbled across an article about the Middlegate Monster burger and I knew we had to come here someday. We made 2023 our year to visit! Our Nevada vacation started in Vegas, then on to Death Valley Junction, Beatty, Tonopah, Lake Tahoe, then across Nevada on highway 50, the Loneliest Highway in America. About a third of the way across that highway is Middlegate Station, a bar and grill in the middle of nowhere.
On this lonely stretch of road, Middlegate Station made for a nice stop just for the ability to stretch our legs, but we were also really looking forward to the famous Middlegate burgers we were about to eat for lunch. We walked in, were greeted by the bartenders/cooks who told us to grab a seat wherever we wanted and the soft drinks were self-serve at the end of the bar. What a cool little place! Dollar bills cover the ceiling and no matter where you sit inside the place you can see the cook/bartender work her magic on the grill behind the bar. Although I couldn't talk my better half into ordering the famous food challenge "Middlegate Monster" burger, even though I offered to split it with him, we still ended up with a MONSTROUS amount of food. I'm not sure who supplies their meat, but those were really tasty burgers and the fries were totally delicious as well. It was actually pretty busy for a place that is so isolated in the desert. We had fun listening to the other customers talk about what had brought them to Middlegate. Many of them were truckers, but a few others were just on an adventure. Imagine our surprise when we ran into another guy who, like us, was vacationing in Nevada from Illinois!
My advice to anyone heading to Nevada: drive the Lincoln Highway across the state and make Middlegate Station a destination along the way. You won't be disappointed!

If you want to wait 45 minutes for a hamburger and fries floating in grease, this is your spot. Otherwise, drive on by. While waiting for our food I watched an employee bringing in supplies from his car. He carried in a plastic container of either cupcakes or frosted muffins. Evidently the box had turned over. He opened it and without washing his hands began to rearrange the sweets. When he got frosting on his fingers, he licked them and then continued. When done he carried the container along with others into their storage cooler. Too gross.

Authentic stage stop is a must see and a great place for lunch or dinner while cruising the "Loneliest Highway". Great burgers (I like" Atkins Style") or take the Monster Burger Challenge. Friendly folks, good service and a great pour (if someone else is driving!). Saturday night prime rib, while not fancy, is a flavorful and tender thick cut of beef. Just get there early!

Came to this place as we'd heard about the great burgers. Hubby had the mushroom swiss burger which he said was very good, and he was happy that they agreed to do a burger at breakfast time as we caught them on a quite day. Staff were friendly and it has a real community feel. I had the eggs and bacon and it was just okay. Eggs had no taste and bacon was overcooked and so just crumbled. Coffee was lukewarm and there was no drinks menu so I wasn't aware of what other non-alcoholic options were available. Everything was just too greasy for my taste. Hubby said it's worth a stop if you are travelling between Fallon and Austin, so I guess we agree to differ on this one!

We read about the Good Cheeseburgers here so we stopped in lunch while driving Nevada’s “ Loneiest Road in America”. Friendly service was nice and Cheeseburgers were good and filling ! They offer a “ Monster Cheeseburger” to try and eat

Great place and I can't ever remember having a better cheeseburger and fries. They use the rundown looking buildings to their advantage and inside it's like being at home with great service. We liked it and two thumbs up!!

Came here for the first time on a Saturday for lunch. Place was packed at 1:00PM. I mean a line of 15 people running out the door. Took 45 minutes to get to the counter to order and 60 minutes to get food and beer for 5 people. Total tab with tip was $96. The bartender gave me two free beers so that was a bonus. Want to return when it’s less busy. Food was good. Funky interior too.

Every time I swing through this area I hit up Middlegate Station. I always have the mushroom burger and it is by far the messiest, most delicious burger. I quit drinking, so I no longer enjoy a frosty beer when I stop in, but it doesn't matter - always a great experience and good eats!

A small oasis in the middle of nowhere, completely unexpected and an interesting, pleasant experience overall. We only wanted to stop in and have a coffee, but then decided to order a sandwich because it was so homely. It would also have been an interesting place to stay overnight.

Great ambiance, fantastic venue. Not too big, small but helpful and efficient staff. We came in right at noon and after 15 or so bikers, so it took a while for the kitchen to catch up. Kitchen used loosely as the grill is actually in the dining room. Love the old time charm of the place. Good burgers, good fries. Even had an Atkins burger (no bun) for the wife. Gotta stop here whenever in the vicinity of Fallon.

An out-of-the-way place with good food. It doesn't look like much from the outside, and the interior won't win any awards in decorating magazines, but the food was good. To be honest, if I had seen the place from the outside, and if I had not had a recommendation to eat there, I would have kept driving. Glad I stopped.

We traveled the Loneliest Highway in America(many highways in Nevada could qualify...lol)US 50 from Ely to Fallon and stopped in for a late lunch and we loved it. There were only a few people there and the cheeseburger and fries were great, as good as I've ever had anywhere. Maybe next time I'll try the Monster Burger!! If you're on this highway you have to stop, you'll like.

Was told of this place by a friend last time we came out to Fallon. Man he was right. By far the best burger for the price. The staff was super friendly and very military friendly. Service and burgers were both amazing!
