Great food. Clean. Pleasant waitress and other staff. Plenty of food. Top shelf margaritas fantastic. Don’t turn away bases on the outside look of the restaurant. If in CArson City again will be stopping by.

I've been going to El Charro for over 30 years....how time flies. I used to be addicted to the chimichangas. My husband and I met there about 33 years ago. We moved to CO, but still love going to El Charro to reminisce and enjoy...some good food. I can truly say I've not been disappointed but a handful of times in all these years. One of the things I have appreciated most is the consistency of the recipes throughout the years, maybe with a few slight changes through time. I went for a late lunch with my parents and as always, staff was friendly. Restaurant is clean and mindful of COVID guidelines. While they have a great menu with a plethora of dining options, I decided to order something that I've never had before. I ordered the Beef Fajitas. While not terrible, it just wasnt what I have come to expect from this restaurant which has been in business for decades. The meal came on a large plate: Marinated Beef strips sautéed with onions.....very nice. The beef was tender, not overcooked......awesome! The menu describes this dish as being plated with marinated beef, green chiles, pico de gallo, beans, rice and guacamole with your choice of corn or flour tortillas. When one thinks of "Fajitas", they think of that rustic smokey grilled flavor. And if you're lucky, they are served on a hot cast iron skillet. The Beef, while tender had a very simple flavor profile. I will no doubt eat there again, but probably won't spend the extra money for the Beef Fajitas.More

Wonderful food, atmosphere and decor. We did feel a little neglected at times, but overall, decent service. We will definitely return!

The service was friendly and quick. The chips were hit and the salsa was tasty (I liked the hotter one better. More flavor). The food was good, though nothing earth-shattering that you haven’t eaten a million times before.

Taco Tuesdays - $1.50. Ordered Carne Asada tacos, tortillas are slightly fried but still soft, came with onions, salsa, and cilantro on top. Delicious! We dined in and got free chips and salsa and water as we waited.

Great service not so great food. The food is not at all authentic, it's bland and just not very good. Sometimes the Americanized version of Mexican food is what one wants but no, it's just not very good food by any standard. I've eaten there...twice in the last three years and both times it was very disappointing. (my salad was great) I wont be returning. I have to say once more, the service was top notch...More

We visited this Mexican restaurant for lunch with friends. They were reasonably busy for lunch, but we were seated right away and given chips and salsa. The atmosphere was great and the service was exceptional. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. I had a...chicken chimichanga which was nicely buried under a salad consisting of lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. It was good, but the chicken could have been seasoned a bit to make it better. My friend ordered a chili releno and he thought the releno was good but he didn’t like the sauce.More

The Silver and Gold Cadillac Margaritas are the best around, but just one ;) Try the Tacos Nacionales for a one-of-a-kind, very different and delicious dinner. Tacos Rancheros is my other fave- both are more like an enchilada plate than a taco plate. We always...have leftovers as the portions are generous. Service is always excellent and they welcome us to enjoy our margaritas and chips before ordering without making us feeling rushed. Authentic atmosphere- nothing fancy yet very comfortable. We make the extra drive because going here is a treat for us.More

Other tables seemed to receive good service, but our waitress appeared to be having a rough night and the service was sub par. We ordered flour tortillas with our fajitas and received corn instead. Our food got cold during the 10 minute wait for the...correct tortillas. Then, when we needed an additional tortilla to finish the fajitas, they charged us extra for a “side order” of tortillas. I have ordered fajitas at many Mexican restaurants and never been charged extra for tortillas. Overall, a disappointing experience, although the food was tasty enough for us to likely try again.More
