This is largely a bar. The bar area is so smoky we were going to leave but they did have another room that was not smoking. There isn't a door but it was enough to not smell it too bad. My Chicken Caesar was pretty...good. I did ask for dressing on the side and it came on the salad. My husband's chicken fingers were large but when he got into the thick part of the chicken, it was pink & raw. They did take it off our bill. We would not go back if in the area.More

The Beatty VFW came recommended by our hotel, at first we thought this is your #1 pick but we looked up them up saw the simple menu options, reviews, pictures and decided what the heck let's head on over. We walked in to be immediately...greeted by the friendly bartender who said pull up a seat, we let her know we would like to grab a bite to eat. She said we could eat at the bar or there were a couple of tables below - we opted to find our way in the lower area. She gave us menus, letting us know that we would order dinner through her and then pick up our dinners when our name was called at the window - easy enough. We looked over the 'Chow' aka menu with the special of the night being Fish & Chips deciding on the Special of course for the hubby, I couldn't resist the Shrimp Scampi and we both ordered their amazing Wedge salads - BTW their croutons and bread made in house is TO DIE FOR!! We even ordered the next night to-go after a longgg hiking day in Death Valley grabbing the VFW Honey Pot pizza, wings and garlic parmesan bread - yummmyyy!! Inexpensive quality food, full bar & sodas, simple place but homey with a ton of history, GREAT people and friendly service. Keep in mind this establishment is 21 and over but you can ALWAYS order food to go anddd it's worth it!More

Loved the burger and cheesesteak! Totally unexpected deliciousness! A little smoky from the bar but food will be the only thing you care about here.

What a gem! We just wanted a burger, and we were not disappointed. The bartender was welcoming and terrific, the patrons friendly. We had a bit of a wait, because the place was busy. The burger was worth it. Wish this was in my home...town. I would be a regular!More

We poked our head in and the kitchen was open. Great company and yummy food. They make their own poppers and do run out. I almost forgot to take pictures. I forgot to look at the board for today's special. Don't pay attention if TripAdvisor...says something is open or not. In this case they were open. They just don't have their hours loaded into TripAdvisor.More

I was staying in a nearby hotel and VFW was within walking distance so I called in an order to go. Service was fun and the atmosphere in the bar/cafe was great. Some of America's best inside. I ordered a salad and the french dip...with fries. It was SO good...not just quality, but quantity too. The salad was a full wedge from an iceburg and was topped with bacon and fresh ranch. The sandwich was on a really good roll and it was full of well flavored beef (lots), grilled onion, and cheese. The dip was not a cheap powder mix...it had a nice, natural (not fake or overly salty) beef flavor. Really just quality food that I would expect to pay a lot more for. I would return in a heartbeat.More

Recommended by hotel for a good dinner. Patty Melt was the special and it was very good and affordable. But the best feature of this place is the people. Very welcoming. This VFW building was previously a chruch.

Food was greasy and overcooked. Not impressive! After eating I was sorry to have spent the money for less than good!

Try the jalapeno poppers! The onion rings and fries are yummy. Our contisour of chicken strips wants to return. I love the homemade poppers! Tonight I had onion rings. They were battered with a light crunchy batter. Delish!

This place was recommended to me by the owner of the motel I was staying at. I was well satisfied with my sliced NY Strip on a brioche bun.

Yes, I think so. When we were there in March there were deffo a few people who dropped in for a beer or two, and took a meal away in a box afterwards.

We went two nights in a row because the first night Julia was cooking and there weren't too many people in there smoking, and it was great. The second night, though, the place was filled with smokers including cigar... More
