The restaurant in the village of Kiliomenos has been there since 1680. It is housed in a beautiful historic house. On the menu you will find excellent meats - beef, pork, lamb and rabbit. The meat just melts in your mouth, it is tender and juicy. Excellent appetizers, very good local cheeses. In the restaurant we ate the best tzatziki on the island (!), and all this we drank with good, home-made wine.
The owners of the restaurant are father and son, so friendly and caring that you feel you are the most important guest there. If you come to Zakynthos you should definitely visit this place, it is the heart of the island.

Dinner in a very rustic but truly typical restaurant. In this sort of farmhouse there were tables everywhere, from inside to outside. The menu is not too extensive but the dishes are good and cheap. A smart waiter, he managed the entire place very well on his own. I took two starters, a second course and a dessert for two, including half a liter of wine and a bottle of water for €32.50. We had a good time and would recommend it to anyone who asks.

This is an amazing traditional Greek family taverna, hidden away in a small village in the hills of zakynthos. The building is very old and atmospheric, the food is simple but care is taken over every aspect and it tastes absolutely delicious. It’s honestly one of the best, most authentic food experiences I have had. The restaurant has apparently been there since 1680. The young guy who served us was friendly, helpful and efficient. Kids are welcomed. Absolutely loved it. We popped in by chance mid afternoon one day and had drinks and were tempted by some starters, we were so impressed that we booked to go back for dinner in the evening next day. Amazing food, stunning location.

They recommended this place and we decided to try it during our holiday in Zakynthos. Not Recommendation! Uncomfortable road to reach the place, very far and you have to make many curves and narrow roads so if you do not live to drive do not go there! Reached the place the location outside is very nice shame that it is directly overlooking the road so you can not stop pass the sleeves in curves. We arrived at sunset and evening the street outside nn was very lit, apart from this friendly waiters but for an Italian the COUNCIL, food for nothing sought after and local! Nothing exceptionally good! We also took advice from the waitress something but maybe she could not advise us well I do not know! All served quickly, in the end we had their coffee similar to the Turkish but made terrible, nothing we really liked! Historic place in the countryside, a little distant but really beautiful.
At first glance the place is even more beautiful inside, you can feel the tradition of the place.
The boy who welcomes us is very nice and friendly.
He recommends a couple of dishes such as tomato fritters and aubergines with cheese.....very good and tasty.

The place is worth it just for the experience of eating in a surreal, "old" place (building from the 17th century if I'm not mistaken) but very well kept and clean.
If you then add that the managers are super kind and smiling and the food is delicious, you really can't ask for more.

Diafokereikos is a beautiful gem serving authentic, traditional Greek food far from the madding crowd. There are no hired chefs here. The family does it all and they do it very well. They are serving you their best effort and pride is in the meal. Every dish that we ate was very nice from the Eggplant Salad, and Stuffed Aubergine with Feta cheese, to Bougiourdi, and the rabbit stew! Eating a great traditional Greek meal in an historic building that has survived centuries of earthquakes is a rarity on Zakynthos. If you are not hungry, then go and taste the wine and take a tour. This restaurant is a living museum that tells the story of the survival struggles of the families who have lived in it since it was built in 1680. The humble, old world architecture is magnificent. The centuries old patina, the yellow lichens on the stone walls, the original forged iron hardware locks and hinges are fantastic. Be sure to see the historic kitchen and hear the explanations of its ingenious features. It is still owned and operated by descendants of the original inhabitants. They are beautiful souls who will welcome you and warm your heart. Diafokereikos is about more than the meal. You will love this experience from start to finish.

Absolutely delicious - the best we got in Zakynthos! Few dishes on the menu but of very high quality, and we got to taste many different Greek plates. The location is stunning! A little hidden gem, away from the tourist fuzz.
Also, many thanks to the waiter that was very nice and friendly, which made the dinner a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended!

Great restaurant, in an old mansion of Zakynthos. The atmosphere of the place is excellent, makes you want to explore it. There are tables in the courtyard, but also inside the mansion. The artistic music background does not taste well with the overall beauty of the space. The menu is more tasty compared to many other shops on the island and there are quite a few traditional and special dishes, well cooked and delicious! Had dinner outside in a very pleasant environment, the service was particularly attentive.

Had a fantastic traditional Greek lunch here, the starters are amazing. The drive up was worth doing as the views up the mountain are amazing. We had the tomato fritters, aubergine wrapped in feta and filo pastry cheese. All were exceptionally good. Best meal we had all week.
