Lunch with the wife and parents a couple of weeks ago. I can't even remember what the folks had (!) but the wife and I went for the steak ciabatta and chips.......Decent service and everyone enjoyed their meals - they also have a decent range of beers. The interior design/decor is as eccentric as I remember it (we're irregular visitors)... More

Visited this great pub for the second time in as many weeks, both of them Steak Nights (they have 2 per week, Wed and Thur with the fish dish changing weekly). Two of us ate off the 'specials' - one gammon steak and one Barramundi (a very meaty fish) and 2 had the tandoori marinated chicken breast on white, red... More

I'll start with the 'con', don't get me wrong I like dogs, used to have four Boxers, they're fine in their place but this isn't in, what is primarily, a restaurant rather than a pub. The Five Bells is proudly 'dog friendly' not much of an issue on the night we were in as there was only one in (other... More

Sunday lunch with friends. We'd pre-booked based on a recommendation from friends of friends and rolled up at 1200hr, parking in the street right outside. Bassingham is a lovely village; then pub looks lovely from the outside. In we went, and it just gets better. Gorgeous interior - olde worlde English pub, beautifully decorated with dried hops all round the... More

We visited here on our way home from a day shopping in Lincoln. We were just calling for a drink and ended up having a dessert which was really nice! Staff were very friendly and attentive. The desserts we had you could tell were all homemade. We had cheesecake, chocolate trio and creme brûlée, They were all very tasty and... More

The waiter Tom is charming witty helpful and attentive five stars for this young man. He scoured the place to find a peppermint teabag for my friend when all they served was English tea. He was very careful that the food I received was completely gluten free were my dietary requirements. It is worth visiting the five bells just to... More

Used to visit The Five Bells a couple of times every month but, after two or three poor experiences, we hadn't been for 3 years. Been twice now in the past few weeks & both times it has been back to its best. Traditional village pub serving good traditional pub food.

Visiting relatives in this area we decided to have lunch at a traditional pub with a difference. We certainly got that! Our Party included a 96 year old in a wheelchair but this was no problem for the staff. Access was easy and once inside the pub was a Grotto of curios, including a wishing well, stuffed animals, old trade... More
