My wife and I were participating in the 2020 Nebraska Passport and this restaurant was one of the participants.
We were planning on visiting numerous sites on the day we visited Driftwood. It was a very hot day and we had already traveled 80 miles. The Driftwood was easy to locate and we decided to sit on the outdoor patio for lunch. The interior was nicely done, roomy, and very clean. The whole staff was very Covid compliant throughout out visit. We had no concerns about safety.
We decided to split the lunch special which was a large burrito w/rice. They had a very good selection of beers and we tried 3 beers we had not yet had before. The food was enough for the two of us and the beers were nice and cold. Service was great and we enjoyed our time at Driftwood. The prices were reasonable and all the plated food that we saw looked delicious. The menu had a large selection of items to please everyone that were more upscale than your average burger joint.
The interior is very large and can seat larger groups of people. The bar area has plenty of taps and TV's to watch your favorite sport. There is a game room to give the kids something to do while waiting for food or relaxing afterwords.
Hopefully, the Driftwood will survive these trying times. We would love to stop in again on our next trip through the area. This stop is currently open and was a great stop on the 2020 Nebraska Passport!

Nivella B. at the Holiday Inn Express suggested we try the Driftwood for a nice
dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to see an older building that had an
industrial modern feel.
Cody, our server asked where we were from and we said Lincoln and he
mentioned he had worked at the Venue. A favorite place of ours.
We asked him what he suggested and he said the Lonesome Dove Burger
was excellent. He was so very right. It had a bourbon barbecue sauce that
was homemade and who would have thought to have cheddar cream cheese
with applewood bacon. My husband had a salad with honey mustard that
was the best he had eaten. Another homemade I had the blue cheese and it
was excellent too. The onion rings were piping hot and the fries had a different
shape and they were great too.
The brownie sundae was very dense chocolate and truly delectable. If you
are celebrating a birthday Cody said they would give you your choice
of a sundae.
Cannot say enough about Cody, he was personable and really felt like
we were getting first class treatment.
I will suggest this to clients to stop in Ogallala on their way to vail and have
a relaxing wonderful meal.
Cody, also explained that they offer music and performances on the stage.
They did practice social distancing too and servers wore masks.
Looking forward to stopping next year on both our way to and from Vail.

We were headed from Minneapolis Minnesota to Denver Colorado in a Cannonball Run we’ve done a thousand times before. Normally, Ogalalla Nebraska is a gas stop and run through a fast food joint. In our quest to make better food choices we decided to venture in downtown Ogalalla. In the past 20 to 30 years, we have ventured along the old roads and towns of Nebraska; there was never much to do in this established farming community. Things are changing. When you come over the rail bridge there is a grand mural on the side of a building. They built a pavilion for a farmers market downtown and on this night the ice cream truck was there with a live band. When you arrive at the restaurant it has a beautiful marquee and outdoor seating with a big screen television. The interior of the restaurant has a sound stage for bands later in the evening. Attractive benches along several rows of tables allow for large groups for entertainment or family gatherings. We found the venue not to be dog friendly even on the outside patio. Our wait person was friendly and accommodating as we had been traveling all day and needed a few minutes to freshen up. The menu was normal bar food with old favorites such as cheeseburgers and fries, along with other sandwiches such as French Dips and Clubhouse Sandwiches. The food came out quick and the fries are recommended! The food is inexpensive here and they have a wide selection of draft beers. We loved this place, the improvements they’ve made to the downtown area and the welcoming atmosphere. The entire time we spent during the 5pm dinner hour was less than 45 minutes making it a great alternative to fast food off Interstate 80.

Every time I’ve tried Driftwood their service is slow. Last time we went, ordered two diet cokes and waited for 30 minutes for the waitress to come back. She finally came back and told us they were really busy in the kitchen and it would take another 30 minutes to get food. We politely said we didn’t have that kind of time so she gave us a bill for $6 for the diet cokes -which we paid (hint: good customer service would be to just apologize for the lack of service and let customers have the 48 cents worth of Coke product). Oh well, plenty of other good restaurants in Ogallala.

Decent. Not great. Our sweet potato fries came out literally cold. Wings were good. Kitchen staff is not helping the waitstaff at all. They’re doing best they can with COVID regs & I saw a couple re-do’s. They need to get their act together. We probably wouldn’t go back.

My wife and I were on our way to Colorado. At our hotel the person who checked us in, highly recommended the Driftwood. Therefore, we dined there. The ambiance is pleasant and service is attentive as well. When we perused the menu we were shocked to see a Wagyu Steak entree. Figuring that Nebraska is known for their beef, we decided to give this steak a try. This turned out to be a fantastic choice! The steak was grilled medium rare and so flavorful. The quality of this steak would rival any steakhouse throughout the United States. It was that good!
Jason, the chef, came to our table and my wife and I complemented him profusely. My only reservation is that the wines need to be upgraded which Jason said was in the process.
For an outstanding steak dine at the Driftwooid!

When we walked in, we had high hopes...the place was hopping. But, our waitress ruined it. She didn't know any of the beers, so we had to go walk over to the board to see them She didn't even know the soup of the day, and didn't really seem to care. Judging by how busy they were, we ordered the soup of the day hoping to get it before our food since we were starving as it was 9pm. After 20 minutes, she hadn't brought it out yet, so I asked her to bring it before the food. But, she didn't and after 40 minutes, she brought it out with everything. If this was her fault, oh well, but if the kitchen is set up to where she couldn't serve up the soup of the day herself and bring it out, then that's just plain stupid. Soup of the day shouldn't have to wait on the kitchen. The food was OK, but not great. I didn't like the wings at all.

We were camping near by and had been traveling for several weeks through out the summer and wanted a change of pace from RV cooking. The campground host recommended the Driftwood. We are glad they did. We had a great meal with friendly service. A great selection of appetizers and we took advantage of several since we couldn't decide on one and could have fill up on them alone. Glad we didn't the reasonably priced entree's were well worth saving some room for. 3 meat BBQ platter was fantastic. Warning the Reaper Powder is really hot but fun to watch people try to eat without acting like it.

Visited this new-ish place in my hometown last week and was delighted by both the service and the food. Our party of 7 (kid to seniors) didn't have to wait very long for our meals despite the server's apologies about delays in the kitchen. Drink refills were brought without asking, which I love. Everyone ordered something different and everyone was pleased with what they got. The French dip was awesome! My picky kid even cleared her plate. Shoutout to servers Tammy and Cody for being so accommodating.

Wanted a place where we could sit down and eat after traveling for 4-5 hours. What a pleasant surprise, this place had great service and the food was delicious. My husband ordered the Brisket Sandwich and was so impressed by the size and amount of brisket in his sandwich. He loved the homemade fries as well. I had the Chicken Fried Steak and was not disappointed either.
We plan to stop on each opportunity we have. Nice little secret ... Jamie B our server was very friendly and went to ask questions when she didn't know the answer to our question. The atmosphere was great and the restroom was amazing, the shop class did an awesome job. You'll have to read about the history of the place.

Went with my parents for dinner while visiting and had an excellent experience! Service was great, even though busy on a Fri night, and the food was on point. The whole design is very well done and they have an extensive menu. Spicy cheese curds live up to their name and we enjoyed the steak salad and country fried steak.

We ordered salmon and the filet was generous sized and had excellent taste, cooked to perfection. We had ordered carry out since we were tired from traveling all day, but the atmosphere was very comfortable and very creatively decorated. Part was open air and country music playing inside. Quite a few locals inside which is always a good indicator.

Noisy, too many tvs, food and service were okay. Manager kept squeezing past our table to adjust the channels. We had the walleye and burger, which were fine. Fries were cold, mashed potatoes not great, we still haven’t figured out what was going on with the corn. $50 for two . . . Sigh

We were staying in Ogallala overnight on a road trip and the front desk associate at our hotel suggested the Driftwood for dinner. We were glad we listened to their suggestion. It has a lovely down home/country vibe going and while bustling on a Thursday night, we had no problem getting seated right away. It looks like on weekend evenings. they have live music with a stage in the corner.
Our server was friendly and attentive. I had the chicken alfredo - it was pretty good, though the sauce was a bit thick/heavy for my preference. There were many other good-looking items on the menu so I wouldn't hesitate to come back in the future and try something else.

We were there on February 20, 2021, 11:45am and sat at the bar. The place was busy. We ordered an appetizer and 2 entrees. After 45 minutes we asked about the status of our appetizer. Our waitress said something was filled up and walked away. We didn’t even get an apology. She’s a tall dark haired woman, wears glasses, and has tattoos all up her right arm. We won’t be going back. This place is on the pricey side and I expect descent service to go along with the price. If you go there and your waitress matches this description, you’ll get crappy service.
