The excellent staff of this fine old pub have been serving good food despite the disappearance of chefs after Christmas, but now the absentee landlord has forbidden them from doing so. Still, the beer is top notch and the fire is burning - although not on Mondays and Tuesdays, when said absentee landlord has decreed closure. Luckily, the ancient and... More

We've been eating and drinking in the Low House regularly (some might say frequently) for the last 14 years and like all places in that time it's had it's highs and lows; but I can honestly say that the meal we had last night was the best we've had here for quite a while. The menu is good quality pub... More

So disappointed as we live locally and have been coming here regularly. Things have changed, apparently the kitchen staff walked out and what we were offered last Wednesday was a very reduced menu, Unfortunately so were the portions. Like the overcooked haddock tail I was given, or rather half haddock tail - it weighed no more than 4 ounces and... More

Just got home from a fantastic meal. Service was friendly & efficient. The choice was varied to suit all tastes. The food was very well cooked & the portions were large. The burger was to die for. Would highly recommend a visit.

I have been going to this beautiful and unique pub for over 20yrs and I was so disappointed last night when what should have been a celebratory meal turned into a complete disaster. Having checked out the menu on the website when I booked a few days before, and deciding on steaks, ribs etc, we arrived to find a very... More

We visited the Kings Head on recommendation from friends and were not disappointed. They aren't really geared up for babies (of which our two couples have a baby each) but they were very welcoming and friendly all the same. The food exceeded expectations and was great value for money. One of the party doesn't eat dairy and so ordered chips... More

We came to this astonishing pub as a birthday surprise for me and wow what a find!!! Where do I start, the pub itself is the most beautiful, old world pub you can imagine, like stepping back in time, could have sat in the settles by the fire all day, every day and the tap room is fantastic. The accommodation... More

Forty years having elapsed, I felt it time to see what decades of "modernising" had inflicted on this unique establishment. I could not have been more delighted to see that all the features that made the Low House so special have been lovingly maintained. The tap room, with excellent ales from the wood, the old wooden settles, creating an intimate... More

This was the nearest pub to our isolated, rural accommodation and so we thought we would book an evening meal for two. what a good decision it proved to be. We arrived early and enjoyed a drink in the garden while we perused the menu. We ordered and when our food was ready we were escorted to our table in... More
