very nice restaurant up on the road to big mountain ski resort. Andy the chef has a excellent reputation and works with the valley for many fund raisers. He to normal dinning to outstanding. I have never heard a bad review. Great for a romantic evening. Beautiful mountain views .

We were there between seasons, mid-September. Service was good, The wine list was excellent but overloaded with pricey selections. Our waiter knew his food and wines. We skipped the two tasting menus he promoted, that promised too much food. Two of us shared nice small plates: a grilled octopus salad and sauted forest mushrooms. My partner had a bison steak... We have dined around half of the world and found the BEST restaurant in the good 'ole USA...KANDAHAR CAFE' in Whitefish, Montana. Oh, I hope you get to go to this magical place! Really everything on the menu is superior! I suggest you order a bottle of wine or the wine pairing with the FIVE course dining for the finest... More

We ate dinner here and both had the elk roulade. It was a bit dried out and frankly not great. I've had elk in Arizona and Switzerland that was exceptional. I had what was supposed to be a butter lettuce salad but it was actually romaine... The waiter told the couple next to us, the local butter lettuce is that... More

We have been on three other occasions and have had a 5/5 experience but this time the wine flights came early and late and without explanation as to how and why they were paired with our food. The kitchen took no interest and left the waitress on her own. The peach "cobbler" put the exclamation on the evening. It was... More

Go for the pre-fixe dinner with the wine pairings. All I can say is that it was amazing. I have eaten in many upscale restaurants in NYC and this establishment is comparable.Service compares to the food. Splurge on yourself. Aren't you worth it?

Service was a little sloppy. Water was not poured correctly. Some hit the table cloth instead of the glass. Overall it was a great experience! Meal, service and atmosphere was great. Price is expensive!!!

This is not cheap but is the most fantastic experience. I usually manage to pick very quickly from menus but was stumped here because everything sounded so good. The service was impeccable, and the flavours of the food were excellent. We much appreciated the helpful suggestions regarding wine to accompany the food. Two thoroughly enjoyable evenings - thank you to... More

We had a fantastic meal; beyond the high hopes we expected. From creative cocktails (citron vodka, passion fruit and habanero was amazing), to unbelievable appetizers (mushrooms were melt in your mouth, and delicious Alaskan crab ), and entrées that rival the best of anywhere I've eaten. We had superb elk tenderloin, beautiful rack of lamb, delicate fish, and zesty short... More

28 years ago the now-wife and I celebrated her birthday at Kandahar Lodge restaurant with an awesome meal. This was our first trip back there since then and the food is even better than we remembered. It's well worth the drive up from Whitefish with incredible views.
