Fun spot! 4/5!

Atmosphere & drinks were awesome! Food is a little hit and miss. Queso, chips and salsa, margarita, and burrito were great, but we ordered the shrimp bowl which was just not good at all. The waitress seemed to know as soon as she brought it out, and came back with salsas and extras to spruce it up. So next time we’ll just ask what to avoid. All around, would come here again! 👍🏽

Tasty - and pretty - burritos

We stopped here for lunch while in Whitefish for the day. We both got burritos (barbacoa and pork). Our server asked if we wanted both red and green sauce; we shrugged and said "sure." both sauces, and the burritos, were pretty good and the burrito was pretty.

Good food, great service - and open in Whitefish past 9PM - that is a big deal.

After a long day in Glacier National Park in July getting in ALL the park offers returning to Whitefish a little before sunset we found most all of the restaurants no longer serving past 9PM. Totally understand this situation with their lack of help both serving and cooking, but we were hungry! Mama Blanca's was open, busy and still serving - was a great experience. Cubano and Bistec sandwiches were both excellent - cold beer - and very quick service by our server, Abby, who was doing an excellent job. Highly recommend Mama Blanca's.

Disappointing lunch

I can’t eat raw onions and asked the server if the red onions in the shrimp burrito were cooked. She assured me they were. They were not. I’ve been sick to my stomach now for over 8 hours even though I only consumed a few before I realized it and stopped eating. I wanted to send it back and my husband was going to order a beer, but she never came back to the table. His food was supposed to have sour cream on top. It didn’t. Not sure whether the mix ups were with the chef or server. She seemed to be the only server, so perhaps it was a staffing issue. Wish we would have gone to a different place for lunch.

First off I guess we were looking for what we call more traditional Mexican food. Overall not what we thought. Fairly small place that was pleasant enough. Noticed a bar with seating as well as tables. Server seemed aloft, no real interest or interaction, but did a pretty good job. Good sized margaritas but doubt mine had much alcohol in it for $12!!! Husband’s was stronger. Chips and salsa was quite good. He had a slab of pork with gravy that came with beans, white rice, salad, and planteens sp? He said it was all just ok. I tasted the pork and it seems fairly dry. Thought salad was tasty. I had shrimp tacos that were so spicy I could hardly eat them. They came as 3 tacos with two nice sized shrimp on each corn tortillas. Cabbage and some quac were added. Neither of us would order again or probably go again. But hey, we live out of state and may never get there again anyway.

Our waitress right out the gate had an attitude but we pushed it aside and weren't going to let that ruin our day. We ordered our food which took over an hour to come out. People who were seated after us got our food before us. About 10 or 15 minutes before our food came out my husband finally got up and asked a different waiter for more water because not once were our glasses filled. When he got up he did notice our food sitting under the heat lamps. Again, our food didn't come to our table for another 10 or 15 minutes. Finally our friend asked the waiter when we were going to get our food and she responded with attitude, but our food finally showed up. We went to eat our food and my beans were cold and her rice was cool. It was a shame. I immediately got up, found our waiter, asked for our check, and she gave us major attitude. We were just over the whole experience and wanted to leave. We were starving, our food was cool, and service was so poor. I was excited to eat there because they had gluten free options but I will never eat there again. We understand if you're busy or having a bad day, but try. After an hour we were ready to just put some cash on the table to pay for the Mexican cokes and leave because there was zero follow-up or even refills on water. The building and atmosphere is really cool, but I'm afraid that the crappy reviews regarding the service and food are indeed true. I love to give restaurants praises, but this restaurant does not deserve it. With so many restaurants in the area, this one is bound to go out of business and for a sad reason. The cooks and good servers don't deserve to lose their jobs because one server is worthless and thinks it is okay to treat people like crap. I honestly just want to know what we did wrong to get attitude right from the beginning.

An average meal

We were slightly disappointed in our dinner at Mama Blanco's. The guacamole was completely inedible due to excessive salt. We complained twice, but they wouldn't replace the $8 bowl. The enchiladas were okay. The salsa was okay. Nothing to write home about.

Good Mexican food in a eclectic setting

Nothing fancy here.....We found this place because a number of restaurants we looked at in Whitefish only served meat dishes or were very busy. My partner's burrito was one of the he ever had and my fish sandwich quite good. Great prices on beer. The interior is nothing to write home about and the servers, while efficient, were a little on the tough side, but it is a local joint. Try it!

Came across Mama Blanca's while looking for an early lunch. The food is GREAT and inexpensive to boot. The service was top notch also. Chips and salsa are complementary and the salsa was to die for. Central American cuisine that was excellent. I opted for a Chicken Fiesta Burrito in a bowl as I have too much fur on my face to eat a hand held burrito It was awesome. My bride had a carne asada melt sandwich that was pressed like a Cubano. She loved it. Try their Cadillac Margaritas...fresh squeezed citrus....bet you can't have just one!

Disappointing service

Disinterested service. We’ve eaten here quite a few times and the food, while unremarkable, is at least consistent and reasonably priced. The service is usually provided by undertrained local high school aged young ladies who try hard, but are routinely overwhelmed by the dinner crush. Tonight, we were seated promptly, our drink orders taken and chips and salsa provided. We drank our drinks, completely emptied the chips and salsa and our server was nowhere to be found. I asked a different server if someone could take our order. Our server then showed up after another 5 minutes and said, hey, I guess you’re ready to order? Ah, yes please. Took our order and the food arrived in about 10 minutes. We had to ask for silverware and drink refills. We would have gladly paid for more chips and salsa. Definitely disappointed right now.

Well managed restaurant - great food and service

We were a party of 10 with a reservation. The seating was prompt, service was attentive, and the meals/drinks were enjoyed by all. The manager was very kind and helpful in getting my Amex card back to me when I accidentally left it behind. We were in the area to visit Glacier NP during the summer but after seeing this great town, I want to return in the winter to Ski at at the nearby resort and eat again at Mama Blancas.

Try the Bowls!

We wanted something healthier so we tried the "turn your burrito into a bowl" option. It was the Pescado Bowl, grilled mahi-mahi filet with pique vinegar aioli, Caribbean slaw & Mama's pickled veggies. We also had our server recommend a local beer for us. It was really good! The restaurant itself is a bit older and slightly rundown, but we were perfectly okay with this. It just added to the ambience. Definitely glad we stumbled on this one! Give Mama Blanca's a try!

Should have tried it sooner

Terrific food and service. We’ve not been to Mama Blacas before, primarily because the online reviews seemed hit or miss for both food and service. It was definitely our loss to not have tried this place sooner. First - service. We were greeted promptly and pleasantly by a hostess. Our server showed up immediately, introduced himself and took drink orders. Super nice and helpful young man. Second - food and beverage. We had 3 amazing plates of food. 2 of us had special orders / requests to our meals. Absolutely no problem at all. My wife ordered a very plain taco with none of the fixings. They charged us for a kids meal. Who does that? Finally, we had a margarita snd a pina colada. Both were terrific. Will definitely be returning to Mama Blacas. Soon.

I got the shrimp tacos so spicy I could not eat them. They were going to throw them out so the guys ate them and they exchanged for fish tacos, Which was nice but they charged me for thr the shrimp tacos also. If they had informed me I would have just sent them back.

This place ears the elusive "worst food I've eaten this decade" award. Just wow — every bite was just sad and flavorless. Imagine tomato puree out of a can with no salt, no nothing bland. Imagine watery white rice bland. These people must really hate their customers (there's no way some of these higher ratings are real, not a chance). Just don't do it. This place may survive on its crappy drinks and bar service during the high season, but it deserves to close based on its food alone.
