The chicken stew was very good. The meatballs (albondigas)b were flavorless. Had to ask repeatedly for bread.

We value asking locals for recommendations about the places one might find something folks like and this one came through a local drive through coffee shop. We found the resairaunt easily as it was on one of the main streets in the city. When we...entered we did not have reservations so had time to site down and peruse the menu (also available on line). we ended up putting together wonderful assortment of tapas with guidance from the very friendly staff. We enjoyed all and in watching the activity around dinner, no wonder it is always very full of people, some local and others from the far corners who are visiting Yellowstone. We like to try things whereever we go and this is not the normal buffalo burger venue. Instead you will be treated to a wonderful journey into the tastes of Spain at the edge of Yellowstone National Park.More

Small place on the outer side of town - food is very good. A fan of authentic Spanish food - this place will not disappoint - even more so - given that the general caliber of food in West Yellowstone is pretty eh .... The...paella had great flavor - cooked perfectly - nicely mixed with seafood and chicken. The appetizer meat plate with chorizo and Serrano ham, manchego and blue cheese. To top it off - the sangria was exceptional. They don’t take reservations and the service was decent but not great. May be the best place in town to eat.More

We were in West Yellowstone for three nights and wanted to eat at Cafe Madriz based on the TripAdvisor reviews. We arrived and were met by a very miserable lady. We had a short wait for a table and when our server arrived my wife...asked if the portions were American size or Spanish tapas size and also how many dishes were recommended. She told us they were Spanish size and we should order three dishes per person which we did. When the first dishes arrived it was obvious that we were misinformed as the portions were large (Racions as opposed to tapas). My wife spoke to the lady who seemed to be in charge who said she recommended three portions between two people and said we could cancel some dishes if they had not been started. We ended up with four dishes (three vegetable) including Patata Bravas which we had to return for further cooking as they were hard. The shrimps were fine but the Manchega vegetables had a whole tinned tomato in the dish. We were made to feel slightly uncomfortable for requesting these changes. If you have never been to Spain maybe it’s worth visiting but if you want good service go elsewhere.More

We looked at this menu online and the menu looked fantastic. The food we ordered was nothing like we were expecting. It didn't taste terrible, but it was really below average. You get a tiny - tiny bread basket and the menu portions are really...small. The service is very average.More

This chef truly knows the flavour of Spain. There were no failures in the dishes we ordered. It was such a lovely, refreshing experience to have food that was not out of a packet, food that was not sickly sweet, food that was fresh and...tasted as per the menu.More

Probably the finest meal of our vacation. Unexpected. Phenomenal food, interesting menu, wonderful service, couldn't ask for more.

This out-of-the-way tapas treasure is hands down my favorite place to eat in West Yellowstone, MT. The tiny tourist town has a couple of restaurants that try to expand beyond the basic burger and iceberg salad, but not many, and none succeed so well on...all fronts—food, atmosphere and service—as Cafe Madriz. Owner Elena has created a restaurant brimming with authenticity. Posters, fans, and other decorations on the wall come straight from Spain and add some lovely flair. Ingredients are fresh and intelligently sourced and make for incredibly unique, flavorful dishes. (Favorites include the veggie-friendly Pisto Manchego and the decidedly carnivorous—and dramatic—flaming Chorizo al Infierno; the paella is also lovely and their sangria definitely hits the spot). While seasonal help in West Yellowstone can be hit-or-miss, I have found the staff to be consistently courteous and attentive, even during busy periods. One downside: as others have noted, this popular spot does not take reservations. During the height of the summer season, the wait can be quite long. Fortunately, West Yellowstone is a very walkable town, and it's easy enough to stroll to the Book Peddler to kill time after putting your name down for a table. It really is a small price to pay to have this gem of a restaurant thriving in our community.More

Our second trip to Cafe Madriz was just as fun and unique as we remembered. This time we were able to sit out at a small table on the grass with our dogs (they were well behaved) and we ordered a ton of food and...shared it among the family. The menu is an adventure itself! Everything is clean (not packaged/processed) food and homemade. There were flavors here we've never found anywhere else. The restaurant itself is cute and a little cramped, the servers are helpful, and everything seems to move a little slower than other places...it's worth the wait. There are no reservations. Try something new, you won't regret it.More

This is a small but amazing place. It is kind of unexpected to discover fine Spanish food in the area. We were lucky and did not wait for a long time. The food was great. They were also very careful with out complicated food allergies....The best place in the town. Highly recommended!More

No. First come, first served. However, it's good to let them know in advance if you have more than 4 people in your party.
