The Carbon County Steakhouse is one of the most well known and loved steakhouses in Montana and Wyoming. Our unique modern-western ambience is a mix of the 1800's cowboy cattle drives and contemporary fine-dining, featuring world-class wines, and diet friendly cuisines. We serve our guests humanely raised and locally-sourced meats from Gallagher's Natural Beef & Produce, a family owned and operated ranch in Clark, Wyoming 30 miles from our restaurant. Each of our steaks is hand-cut to order, our seafood is fresh, and our desserts are rich and uniquely hand-crafted from our expert culinary staff.

As a local we were excited to have our family in town for New Year's and finish the vacation week of skiing with a great meal. We had a group of 10 with 4 kids (14-8) and could not have had better food, drinks, desserts and out of this world service. Tracy handled our orders with ease, accuracy and a smile, tending to the kids with ease and speed. Cody the chef fixed all of our meals perfectly, everything was excellent. Thank you all, we all had a great time and don't forget the desserts....the bananas foster is legit

We’ve eaten here many times and have never been disappointed! The Cowboy Coffee Ribeye is a true original, served with a sweet, almost Kailua like demi-glaze on the side. When they have them, the mussels are always my wife’s first choice. Just celebrated our anniversary here on the patio and left very happy! Excellent service and hospitality as well.

Ate here two nights in a row. Love their front entryway bar and seating while you wait. Friendly staff encounters from the moment you walk through the door. Our waiters were attentive and knowledgeable about the menu (both nights). Our steaks were done perfectly and the quality was top notch. A special shout out to our waiter ‘Ryan’. Genuinely enjoyed his table-side personality and above and beyond service. Thank you!

A lovely place to eat. Outdoor and indoor dining were available. The inside decor was beautiful, reminding me of an old time barroom. Our server, masked, couldn't have been more helpful. I had a steak cooked to perfection and was easily and readily accommodated with substitutions for high-carb offerings. My companions' meals were equally as delicious and well-prepared as mine. Specialty drinks were a treat also. I'll be visiting there again next time I'm in Red Lodge.

Our family dined at Carbon County Steakhouse in early July. The patio atmosphere was lovely and seemed very safe. The service was decent as well. Most of the food was delicious but some of the entrees were served cold. Extensive wine list and some decent cocktails as well.

Gosh, we sure appreciate the feedback but it doesn't appear that we were completely on our game. I apologize ford the cold entrees. We hope to have another opportunity to serve you to the expectations of our dining establishment.

I had dinner here last Wednesday and loved it. I’ll happily dine here again. I had a delicious salad with local greens and a superb, flavorful perfectly prepared beef tenderloin. I sat inside and the tables were distanced, the staff was careful with masks, and I was totally comfortable. Service was fast, friendly, and excellent.

I've dined at the Carbon County Steakhouse a number of time over the past 20+ years. Each time, I've had an excellent meal. Two friends took me there for my birthday on August 8. Each of us ordered steak and we were very pleased with the results. I would also recommend CCSH for its wine list, which is very good and reasonably priced. I also appreciated the birthday "candle" and dessert. Will return without a doubt next time I vacation in the area.

I made reservations online days before. We were hiking and called 15-20 minutes after our reservation time. This was as soon as I could due to cell coverage. We were told they could not accommodate us. So, don’t be late! They are busy.
We went right next door where the service was great and ambience perfect. We enjoyed a beverage and appetizer. We sat by the fire outside and waited until later when I found a table at the Steakhouse online. Interestingly, we were seated twenty plus minutes past our reservation time.
The server was great. Very friendly and efficient. The crab cakes were undercooked and like crab salad with a crisp outside. The steak had great flavor and potatoes tasted okay as well. All in all, our experience was okay.

My husband and I had the pleasure of eating at Carbon County Steakhouse. The experience was awesome, from the moment you enter the classy atmosphere and the friendly staff sets the tone. The food is not only delicious but the proportions are terrific. We shared a half order of mussels for our appetizer it was huge and more than enough with our main courses. Our server Joey was great and helpful answering any questions and giving suggestions. The staff worked together as the restaurant started to get busier with taking care of the table services.
They picked up the cost for my husband's birthday dessert that was a delicious creme brele with the chef's custom touch. They also have a full bar and the Huckleberry Martini was excellent.
Carbon County Steakhouse is a definite go to for Special Occasions or just that want a little higher class meal or evening out.

We had a late reservation. We went to the hostess stand and we were seated immediately.
The mussels were wonderful as well as the grilled Caesar salad.
Our entrees were delicious we had the quail and the strip stake. I am always hesitant to order a stake out because it is heard to beat our grilled stake that we fix at home.
We were very impressed with the flavor.

We had a reservation for our group of 12 and we had 2 tables. I was very impressed with my 6oz filet and mashed potatoes. It was an excellent meal that hit the spot after a long day of hiking. The rest of the group loved their meals as well. The vegetarians in our group were very satisfied with the options and thought everything was delicious.

Pains me to give the place a lower review. The food was great, local cut of meat (Gallagher) is excellent, char grilled cesar salad, etc.. The challenge was the place was super under staffed and seemed to have no one leading or managing. Two servers covering the entire (busy) place was not fair to them... taking orders, serving, busing tables... no one helped them. Food arrived all at once, drinks never arrived, etc. Somehow I think this is not the norm.. but this was our experience. I'd give them another shot.

Had one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Very good service and food. We showed up about 45 minutes before our reservation and they accommodated us right away. Would recommend this steakhouse for anyone looking for a top notch meal. I liked that the menu was not real big but everything on it looked like it would be excellent. The tomahawk steak was popular that night as there were a few tables that were enjoying it. We had the ribeye and tenderloin and they were perfect. Absolutely delicious!!

We visited here with high expectations after reading some reviews. Left disappointed. The restaurant itself is very cool- western vibe.
We started out with a full order of mussels. They were very good. The bread they brought out was cold and the butter was straight from the fridge- cold and hard. The Caesar salad was good.
We were originally going to order the tomahawk but was told by our waiter the smaller steaks were better. My husband ordered the Cowboy ribeye with coffee rub, medium rare. It came out very rare and coffee sauce was too strong and overpowering for the steak, in our opinion. I specifically asked the waiter if beef was prime and he assured me it was so I ordered the strip, medium. I also do not believe it was prime beef. It was medium well/well and was extremely grisly and tough. I would have sent it back but waiter never returned to table until he asked if we were ready for check.
Service was slow. Someone other than our waiter brought our entrees out. The place was teaming with flies which we had to constantly shew away from our food.
Not trying to be critical but did not meet our expectations. Mediocre service and mediocre steaks.
I’m giving 2 stars because this is a steakhouse and steaks were subpar. The mussels were great and I’d definitely recommend those.

We eat here a lot because it is one of few steak houses around. We eat at Edgars also but it’s a about 30 minutes away. The first times we ate her it was amazing. Juicy and plentiful. Always but once excellent service. But this time there was some things that was off. Steaks ordered medium rare. Came with no juice at all. Medium rare always juices when cut. Jut pink (nor red) inside. Very dry. As were potatoes. Very dry. And vegetables could fit in a tablespoon. Very stingy with them. Snd they were tastiest of the whole meal. I gave it 4stars because of ambiance and excellent-waitress. I also noticed he manager that use to be there is replaced. Too bad because he was excellent. We probably will try again. Hope the chef can get back to what it use to be. Other locals say same thing.

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your meal and service with us. I appreciate the feed back immensely. Unfortunately, Richard did leave us after 3 awesome years of service. He moved to Florida enjoy some warm sandy beaches. I will pass the information along to our chef. Chef Cody, really strives to make each dinner a memorable experience. I apologize we missed the mark.
