The Ox is pretty famous as an old timey cowboy bar and saloon. Cards are played the back and food and drinks served upfront. It never closes and you will meet some characters here. Definitely not gourmet, but they serve brains & eggs if you need them and a mean patty melt.

You might wonder, why five stars for a dive bar? Well...because it's the "OX",a piece of history that is rapidly fading from America's corporate landscape-barscape. You can grab a bite there, but the real story is the booze and the characters that abound, grizzled veterans of the hard-drinking wars. Are you a PBR man--welcome my friend. Boilermakers were discovered here, covered... More

A legend in downtown Missoula, the Oxford is my favorite breakfast location. It's old style with seating at tables or a long counter, friendly banter with staff, and food that tastes great if not necessarily what the doctor would order. Went there for breakfast the morning after high school graduation, and while in town for 50th reunion. If you want... More

For the late night breakfast the chicken fried steak is hard to beat. It is old school, not a fancy place by any means, but a piece of old Missoula history. Service is alright, which adds to the atmosphere.

My sis and I sat at the counter...and ordered while watching the cooks right in front of us like the "old days." We were looking for a 24-hour breakfast place after a long concert, where we could sit and visit. This was it! Lovely hash browns with veggies, eggs done just right, English muffins. The cooks were interesting fellows and... More

Not many Western saloons open anymore like the Ox - open every day for business, eat, drink and see old Cowboys in action. The food is quite good and a visit always provides a thrill or two!

Caesars, Chicken fried steak and good company. The service was a bit old school. I asked for my Caesar in a pint glass and the bartender said she could only make them in a bucket. The food waitress was nice and only messed up one order out of 10.

The ambiance is colorful, to say the least, and I would not consider this place family friendly. I would, however, say that their chicken fried steak with toast is outta this world and I will most certainly return as soon as my cholesterol levels stabilize.

Ate breakfast here and it was great. The garbage omelette was huge. Some of the best french toast ever. Definitely would come back.

This is a great place to grab a burger fresh off the grill. The meat is Montana grass fed so it is fantastic. I usually get my burger with grilled onions and cheddar- to die for! Don't go at night as it is a bar and not all the denizens are sober after 7 or 8 pm.
