Food here is fabulous. The fried okra is like crack. Staff is marvelous and you know the food is fresh because the plants come from a student-run garden across the parking lot. A wonderful place for a casual, fun southern dinner.

Outside enclosed dining was available and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. The staff was courteous and wonderfully respectful of masks and social distancing. Food was excellent. My wife ordered the soft shell crab that was, unfortunately, a bit on the small size. I would...definitely go there again.More
Very friendly and cozy place out of the way of normal businesses, but well worth finding. At the edge of Mount Sentinel and the University Golf Course. The menu changes seasonally and is always fantastic, with numerous locally harvested options. The prices are very good...for this type of intimate setting and chef-prepared food. Patio seating available in the summer. Very good wine and beer choices, many local. Great desserts too. Great place for conversation or a date. We have always had outstanding and friendly service. Pick a table near the fireplace in the winter, since there seems to be cold drafts when the door is opened.More
Overbooked had to wait for spot (over 4 hrs!) because of over booking. It happens... Ate dinner in the golf course restaurant “The Griz”. My husband had an Iron Griz burger which had a large piece of the plastic wrapper in it . The waitress...said it was egg white(?). Isn’t egg white chewable? Did not even get a discount for the foreign object! Mussels were great! Kid friendly.More
The manager is really special. She is really smart and great to talk to. (Especially about 70's, 80's rock........)
This is a real treasure in a super setting over looking the golf course. The menu does change at least quarterly. Super food in a casual setting. Super evenings of wine, beer, or cider tastings. Lunch or dinner is great with good choices from burgers...to full entrees. Summer seating can be in air con or outside on patio. Deer are a sometimes visitor to the fairways and mountains are in the back ground. This is often a quiet lunch or dinner place or it could be busy. Special tasting and events often are hosted and can be found on their website. Summer fare includes food grown in the adjacent university gardens. Food is very well prepared and served. Management is excellent. Wine selection is very good. Reasonable.More
We finally tried the Iron Griz and were plesantly surprised. The food was tasty. The menu choices fun and interesting. Most made with locally sourced ingredients. There was a fire burning in the fire place. The tables are generously spaced. The decor simple and inviting....There are TV's arons the room which can be distracting. I imagine during warmer months the back doors are open with patio seating and views of the golf course and the mountians beyond. Looking forward to our next trip.More
This is my favorite lunch spot. Dinners and wine tastings are also offered and provide excellent food selections using local ingredients at reasonable prices. Great views of south hills, golf course and for the lucky, wildlife. Outside seating available in summer. Menu changes fairly frequently...both to correspond to local available food and for variety. Quality of dishes is excellent whether choosing a burger or something more gourmet. Great value for dinner or lunch.More
We felt the food was top-notch. Had the sockeye salmon and zucchini appetizer. Definitely something worth coming back for. We're from Wisconsin and definitely was worth the find. Adjacent to a golf course which makes a wonderful view from our table of the Butte.
This is a neat little gem, not fancy at all, but run by U of MT students with flavors harvested from their own university restaurant garden. We were pleasantly surprised by some upscale flavors and cooking techniques at a moderate price. We also had good,...friendly service.More
We really enjoyed our first visit to the Iron Griz. The atmosphere is lively, as it is a gathering place for some golfers as they finish up their rounds; definitely casual, with glass topped tables and plastic glasses (with magnets in them) for beer. (We...are guessing that's to keep them from tipping on golf carts?). The service was attentive and prompt. By far,the star of the show is the food. There are a good variety of starters, sides and entrees on the menu and a decent selection of brews, many of which are local. We enjoyed burgers, salad and fries -done to perfection. Because this restaurant commits to serving food as locally sourced as possible, (The University of Montana joined the "farm to college" and grows a LOT of its served food) you feel doubly good about eating there! Win-win! The views off the patio are lovely-Mt.Sentinel to the East and some nice greens to the south. The view in front of the restaurant are the extensive gardens, which, when we dined, featured tomatoes and kale. Highly recommend!More
This unassuming lunch / dinner (probably breakfast) place just adjacent to a nine-hole golf course is a local favorite, and for good reason. The menu is unassuming, but the execution is first rate. Coupled with friendly, efficient service, I wish this place were in my...back yard. Four of us enjoyed: steak, meatloaf (2 of us), and fish and chips. Waitress easily swapped out the fries for a salad with no hassle on the first three. Food was really tasty, prices are low, and the golf scenery is fabulous. What a great spot for an easy early dinner.More
Recommended by my son for fresh ingredients, the Iron Griz was a nice surprise. Prices are fair, portion sizes were decent. What? Wagyu burgers, in Missoula? With that "farm to table" vibe, I'm hoping they get a bit more so. Fries were not fresh cut...but frozen battered. Server was a bit inexperienced but tried hard. We were lucky it was a rainy day and not full of golfers imbibing at the bar.More
