The title of this review is meant to make clear that this is primarily a steak house---other menu items available, but steak reigns. That said, whatever your choice, the steak will be done to your directions. Our party had a variety of stakes---no complaints. Salad...and sides come with the steak. Extras like mushrooms additional. Good kids' menu. Appetizer list short, but good and varied selection. Steamed clams and Ahi tuna very good. Usually very busy of the week end and they weren't taking reservations, so you may have a wait.More

It was our first time and, god willing, it won’t be our last. We got there around 5pm on a Friday and it was already packed. FYI: You come at 4:30 to sit next to the grill. That’s a pro move. Another pro move? Get...the burger! I know, you’re at a steak house and you want one of those wet aged steaks (we had one and it was great just be sure to add blue cheese and onions because that’s how you do it in Lolo) but the burger will knock your socks off and make you question whether owning real estate in Lolo is in your future. After the meal we chatted with the owner and he shared some of his wisdom and secrets with us. He’s also got a new distillery you can visit. Take the golf cart up the hill or get another burger for the hike!More

I come here every year or two when I have family/friends in town. It's local, and about the best you'll get outside of 'Missoula proper' imo. I love the look, both inside and out. Very Montana for the out of state guests. A great variety...of food/drink to choose from, but the last couple times some of the food was great, some of it was not even good it was so over/under cooked. A potato so overcooked it was hard to even cut through. A steak order MR that was barely browned on the outside, and blood red inside. These are not 'almosts' they're 'way off'. The cooks need to do a better job of correctly following the order and their foods, and the wait person needs to do their job and follow up to make sure the order is correct before the customer gets it. I really wanted to rate this a "3", but to be fair, the staff is polite and offered replacement a choice of replacement accommodations for the errors; hence the 4. Prices seemed high for the volume, but I guess that's what it is these days, sadly. Of course I'll go back. I really hope this doesn't happen a third time.More

Lolo Steakhouse is one of the best in the country. I live in Indianapolis and dine at St Elmos a nationally recognized steakhouse. Lolo Steakhouse is every bit as good, maybe better, at half the cost. Stayed in Lolo a week and ate dinner there...every night. The place stays very busy. Was by myself and they went out of there way to accommodate me for a table of one. Food is cooked over a wood fire in front of you and every steak I had was a perfect medium rare as ordered. The grilled Halibut is a must have also. Mike the owner has put together a wonderful staff, I mean wonderful. Wish I did not live 1900 miles away, because this is a outstanding restaurant. Also a very cool place and very friendly people. Cannot wait till the next trip.More

We were 2 very hungry people looking for some dinner and happened on this restaurant. It was early but we pulled in, phoned and decided to wait until they opened. Immediately after, a steady stream of cars started pulling in so we went up and...got in line with them. They were all very friendly locals who raved about the food which elevated our expectations. We were promptly seated and had immediate service. This restaurant was completely filled within 25 minutes of opening yet they were prepared and seemed to be doing a great job of it. We both ordered the tenderloin steak with a Caesar salad to start. I thought the salad overdressed but that is not unusual for me. My husband enjoyed it. Our steaks were cooked to a perfect med rare. They were tender but unseasoned. We were both using the table salt and pepper. I should qualify that by saying that we cook, very well and are used to generous seasonings to taste. It’s been a long time since we ordered steak in a restaurant so perhaps this is the norm these days as so many people avoid salt and such. The same could be said for the bread on the plate. A large, thick slice of garlic bread. Delicious but did not detect any garlic. I enjoyed a glass of red wine and my husband had really good iced tea. We shared a slice of cheesecake with huckleberry sauce for dessert. Generous portion and quite tasty. Do we agree with the locals that said this is the best steakhouse in MT? No, but you will get a good steak, good service and probably return.More

Visit was on 06/29/21. Giving two stars only because the cocktail, beer, and bartender's service were awesome. The bartender was really nice! I ordered the New York. What I got was not a New York. I believe it was a sirloin cut into the shape...of a New York.... sort of. Either that or it was the end-piece. It was about two inches wide at its widest, and about an inch thick. There was no fat cap on the edge, but there certainly was a ton of gristle in the actual steak. I ordered it Mid-Rare. It was Medium if not further gone. The inside and the outside were grey in color. No sear. Gross. I ate about half of it, and we left. Awful. Didn't feel it was worth the fight to get it corrected. We never saw our server again after she dropped the food off. Will never, ever go back. I live in Missoula and have been burned here before. You folks should really be ashamed of yourselves. I could have gotten a better steak at Crapplebee's. My wife's filet was overcooked as well.More

So! We moved to Montana from Atlanta in 2013. We went with new friends to this steakhouse for the first time in 2014. We thought the taxidermy display pretty cool but weren't that impressed with restaurant overall. Chalked it up to Montana living. We went...again sometime in 2015 with family members, not sure which month, doesn't matter, and they too enjoyed the taxidermy display, but thought the food was okay. We always thought it a bit pricey for what it was. For not much more, one can dine on steaks at Ruth's Chris or Morton's or any of the other well known steakhouses in America. Years passed, but this year we attended Holy Saturday services in Stevensville and got to thinking we should give this place another try. Well, we did, and we convinced two other friends to join us. We waited one hour, 30-45 minutes for a table, even though I provided my correct cell phone number as we waited. No call came. Finally, a member of our party insisted on immediate seating. During dinner, our friend continued the discontent, so I got up from the table and spoke to MiKe. I donned my best pragmatic self and explained that we waited an unacceptable time to get a table. All at once, my 5'3" and 108 pounds of person received a fumarolic, loud, towering, response from MiKe. He suggested that I wanted a free dinner from him. (I don't do anything to fish for charity; I don't need it, actually). He came over to our table with more of the same. Excuses, loud voice, no apologies, etc. That's too bad because we all so badly wanted to enjoy our evening at their establishment. As far as the food goes, I cook so I notice things. I mean--I cook and am pretty good at it. I could not help but notice that even the baked potatoes were not what even Joy of Cooking would recommend for them. I prefer crispy, buttery, salty, skins, that are good enough to slice and eat even once their inner contents have been consumed. The skins of the potatoes that came to our table were dark, dull, and nothingness, as though they had been microwaved prior to being placed on our plates. Not sure, though, they could have been baked in an oven, naked. Not sure. I ordered a filet mignon, rare+ and what I received was a rare+, 1" thick, tasteless steak. We go to Washington rather frequently, and we always make a point of stopping at Wolf Lodge in Coeur d'Alene for steaks. Oh my gosh! They know how to do steaks!!!!!!! They are thick, juicy, flavorful!!!! The baked potatoes are just as they should be and dinner comes with their signature fried dinner rolls, kinda like glazed donuts without the outer coating of sugar. Simply amazing. I did not appreciate being yelled at by a man I do not even know for simply making an objective, non-threatening comment about the wait time. The food there is not good enough for me to want to return and I am certain yelling at a customer for no real reason is not a good way to coerce future business. As an aside, I could not help but notice that he refers to his female employees as 'girls'. Yuk. Also, yeller beware! You don't always know the true identity of those at whom you yell. My guess is he thought we were nothings seated at his table. Ah, the folly!!! I am certain that once Mr. Mike reads this review, he will go after me with all the rudeness and chauvinism he can muster. That's too bad.More

We went there for our anniversary dinner and enjoyed it very much. It is a large log cabin with maybe 20 foot ceilings. The tables were spread apart, probably more than 10 to 15 feet, so eating without a mask on didn't bother us one...bit. They treated us right, especially for our anniversary.More
