We shared Mabel’s Sampler and the chef’s creation, Chicken Volcano! Yum. Blackened chicken with cabbage, cilantro, tomato, onion and melted cheese. Ate all we could and carried the rest home. Sampler’s chimichangas and flautas brought back memories of Mexico. Authentic flavors and clever creations. Bravo!
This is our #1 favorite restaurant. Worth the drive. Why? The food is way beyond delicious. Unbelievably tasty flavors. I cannot emphasize this enough. The proprietors (Mabel & Joel) are super, good-hearted, fascinating people. Mabel always treated our elderly family members very well when they...were around; made them feel special & respected. Once in awhile, we've heard Joel (head cook as well) singing (great voice) from the kitchen. You are free to BYOB for those who imbibe. The ambiance is what you make it, so if you're open to talking to strangers, you will enjoy the easy, comfortable, rural bonhomie that happens here, Pardner ;)More
This place isn't fancy but it has some of the best carne asada anywhere. It is one of my favorite meals. The flavor of the meat when it is wrapped in a taco shell with the cabbage is outstanding. The beans are also delicious. Another...option that is killer is the pork chops with gravy. Both meals are fairly large portions. You can't go wrong with either option.More
We have been eating at Mabel's for over 25 years. They serve delicious, non-commercial Mexican food. Mabel created the recipes herself. The locals know and love this place! Atmosphere is not great, so don't expect much there, but the food makes up for it!
Wife and I tried this place on a Friday night. It must of been a off night based on the other reviews, but service was very subpar. Food was subpar. The waitress barely put any effort in serving us. Never came and checked on us...after food was delivered. No drink refills. Never brought over our check. Not busy at all. Had to go to counter to pay. Food was very bland and uneventful. We like little, quaint places, but this place fell way below the mark. Can't see us ever returning.More
