Had a delicious dinner tonight. Great hamburgers, onion rings, fries, fish and chips, and the beer was maybe the coldest I’ve ever been served. Waitress busy but did a great job caring for us. Loved the decor, and any place that offers something like 16,000 songs is my kind of place.

We found this restaurant/bar to be recommended many times when reading about Glacier posts. Food is average, typical bar food, not much variety. Can’t recommend if you are really hungry. Small steak sandwich, tater tots were overcooked.

After a long day of hiking and exploring, we were in need of hot food and cold beer. From the gravel parking lot with several options to choose from, we selected Packer’s Roost, because it looked more authentic to an old Montana establishment. We also checked the menu on-line and the selection and prices looked good. Once inside (on a Friday evening) the place was as busy as it could possibly be. We casually asked a couple who were sitting at a 6-person table if we might grab two seats at the opposite end, and they happily agreed. (They had done the same thing when they arrived!) Our experience was so overwhelmingly positive here that we came back again on Saturday! First of all, the food is really good here. My wife and I shared fried ‘shrooms while we each enjoyed our beer selections. (My amber was SO good that I did not order any other beer on either night!) We also shared the Packer Burger Deluxe with fries. (We did not finish the entire burger either night!) Secondly, our server, Kelly was nothing short of amazing. Even though there were other people working there, Kelly seemed to be doing the majority of everything. She also did it with a very professional attitude. Lastly, the ambience was perfect for an Old Montana experience. They have two pool tables, and could easily remove them and have more room for dining patrons, but this is an authentic Bar & Grill. We will certainly return with every visit to Glacier!

Service was drinking heavily behind the bar, took our drink order came back with drinks not what we ordered. Finally found something they could make, cranberry vodka rather than a Cadillac margarita. Took our order. 40 minutes later waitress comes by and asked if we just had drinks and no food order. We reminded her that we had ordered food. 30 minutes later food comes out cold, we all had the canyon dip. Cold bread, cold meat, cold cheese, broth dip cold and mine had no bacon. Two waitresses left drunk, including ours, and after 2 hours total time we had to approach the bar and ask for our tab

There's crappy service and there's REALLY crappy service. This place has the latter. We arrived at 8:35 PM and were told they were open till 9:00 PM. Our menus which really had a very limited range of food (when I asked abut vegetables, the waitress said they had jalapeno poppers) arrived at 8:50 PM. We ordered at 8:55 PM. At 9:45 PM we finally gave up waiting and explained that we were leaving because we has waited over an hour to be served, to which another waitress explained to me that we hadn't even been there an hour. I'd give this place zero stars if it were possible. Watching the locals trying to play pool is the summit of entertainment here.

We were staying in Hungry Horse and a local recommended Packers Roost up the road in Coram. We saw a lot of cars out front several times and thought it must be good. We stopped in around 4:35 on Monday evening, September 12, 2022. The lone waitress was also bar-tending. Less than 20 patrons were inside. She came quickly, took our drink order, just water at that point, and then quickly returned for our food order. Another lady, behind the counter, showed up a little bit later and finally asked us at 5:10 if our order had been taken. We said it had. She began to check on it and after a few minutes, we learned that the cook had not begun cooking it. After 40+ minutes, we were just ready to leave. Then the cook stepped out and quipped that if we couldn't wait for 20", it was our problem. I said we had been waiting for more than 40 minutes. Then he said, "Why don't you go back to Canada." I don't know why he thought we were Canadians. I replied that he need not worry. We wouldn't be back but we would write about it. As to all the cars out front, they appear to be parked there all the time making it look a lot busier than it is. We did try Paul Bunyan Bar & Grill next door and it was 100% better!

If you are a tourist, skip this place as highly unlikely you will get waited on if there are locals in the establishment. We went for drinks and dinner. Asked server twice for service and she kept saying she would get to us soon. We finally walked out after 30 minutes. During that 30 minutes we noticed locals coming in and getting served immediately. What a disaster of a business.

I am not a local and I had a great experience at this place. The service was fine, not overly friendly, but our server was waiting on 8 tables and taking care of everyone at the bar (she was busy). Our food order took about an hour, but it was worth it, the burgers were very good. I definitely recommend this place to people visiting the area. If you are looking for a fancy place where the servers are going to be all over you and you need to eat within 20 minutes, don’t go here. If you are looking for a place to relax after a long day of hiking, have some drinks and some good bar food, add this place to your list of restaurants to visit.

This place definitely has character and the staff were friendly, but it took entirely too long to get our food order, and then the food was not very good. There was commentary from staff about being short-handed and there being a "rush" but as best I could tell, there were only three tables in the place ordering food, and not many people at the bar. A table that came in about 15 minutes after us received their food, ate, and left before they even began making mine (the server had to come back out and ask me what I had ordered again). They comped us our "drinks" for the trouble, which was a nice gesture but there was only one drink/beer served at our table so it didn't do much to make the experience better (though I recognize the server was trying to make it right and she was very nice). This place is probably a lot more fun if you're not starving, and if you are just looking to have a fun time at the bar later at night.

I was hoping for the reviews were wrong but unfortunately they were pretty spot on. We sat at the bar for food, got greeted pretty quickly by the bartender ( she was friendly, Jess I believe ). After a few minutes of deciding we ordered apps (wings and a soup). A few minutes later, we ordered our meals. About 35 min laters the bartender came over to let us know it shouldn’t be much longer. 5 ish minutes later we got our apps. 5 min after that got our entrees. Overall waiting 40 min for food was our biggest issue. The sandwiches are very small and about $15. Wings were still cold in the middle but they were cooked through because they were bagged frozen wings anyway.

My wife and I dove in to Packers Roost head first as the sign outside said "prime rib sandwiches" and "local watering hole". Seems there is truth in advertising. For our meal we enjoyed the Canyon Dip - French Dip shaved prime rib with grilled onions & bacon. It was really tasty The surprising treat for us was the loaded tater tots with chili and cheese. They were sooooo good! The chili had nice chunks of peppers and tomatoes. Really tasty We washed it all down with Dirt Church IPA. Last, but certainly not least was the Excellent Service provided by Heather at the bar. Enjoy!

Coming out of the park we stopped in West Glacier for dinner but everything was closed. The bar tender there told us to try the biker bar down route 2 called Packers Roost. Best and cheapest burgers in town. He said don’t be afraid, it’s a good place. So we did, got there about 9:40, just a few locals and a biker or 2 were there. Bartender was very friendly. We ordered as the place filled up. An hour later when we left the place was packed. It went from a biker bar to a hiker bar filled with families and folks coming out of the park. The burgers were great and prices were good as well. Really funny to watch change over that hour.

We ate here mid afternoon so there wasn't a crowd and we got our burgers fast. They have several to choose from including the yummy bacon mushroom swiss I got. The cold beer was wonderful after a hot, dusty Red Bus Tour.

We had the bacon blue cheeseburger with fries. The burgers are really big so we could have shared one. Our server was very nice. This is a bar environment so probably better for adults or families with older children. One end was smoky due to adjacent smoking room. Lots of very adult language being used at other end of bar.

Food is good, ambience is genuine and the characters encountered make for a memorable visit. But I gotta wonder why the place doesn't sell souvenir hats and tees...a classic Montana locale that visitors might be inclined to say "been there and loved it."
