Great service, cozy atmosphere and fresh, well prepared food. Rainbow trout was delicious and the chocolate fudge cake with mousse filling melts in your mouth! Worth the drive to Cooke City. Far better than any other place to eat there.

Cooke City is a tourist town with very limited food options which must be taken into account on this review. We as a party of 4 arrived at the height of lunch hour and the line was out the door. Some people saw the line and gave up. We were actually seated fairly quickly as the line moved faster than I would have thought. The menu is limited and the food is just average. Due to the remote location, I think the food is rather expensive, but where else are you going to go? The service was very good and our server was friendly and efficient, especially considering the lunch hour crowd and how busy the restaurant was during our visit. The restaurant has a discount for cash, but our bill was so high that I didn't have enough cash to cover it and had to use my credit card. Not great, not bad, just another adequate restaurant. Parking in Cooke City can be a little tough.

We enjoyed lunch at The Bistro. My husband and daughter had burgers that they loved!! I had a chicken breast sandwich it without a bun. The breast was tender and juicy but lacked flavor. Since I didn’t take the fries offered, or the bun, I asked for extra lettuce and tomato. I was given 2 pieces of lettuce and 2 slices of tomato. I wish more restaurants understood healthy eating and made reasonable accommodations. We arrived ahead of two tables, but they got their food and were gone long before us. So service gets a “just ok”.

So bad we knew right away we would regret it forever. We were seated in a back room with what seemed like buckling floors by a snooty weasle looking hipster and handed some greasy menus. With what should have been a very inexpensive meal for the general "atmosphere" of the place, a seventeen dollar salad on the menu convinced us to walk out without ordering. Glad we did because I refuse to feel like I'm being taken advantage of by uppity california boys with cheesy backroom tattoos and vampire resistant breath.

Had the good fortune to stop in and have a burger and fries at the Bistro. Medium rare was medium rare, fresh angus beef, no frozen paddy. Toppings were fresh and served alongside so they stay fresh until you apply the condiments. Full Sail Amber to wash it down was cold and hit the spot. A side of tasty fries made it a perfect size portion. All for $20 with a big tip for the pleasure of attentive, fast service. Sat outside on the terrace on a warm early Sept evening. Owners are friendly and gladly enjoy lively conversation. What an interesting life experience they have to share. Like being at an open air cafe in France 🇫🇷 but tucked away in the Beartooth Mountains near the Silver Gate entrance to Yellowstone Park. Next time, when I have more time I'll spend more time and have the trout with a nice big salad and dessert. The owner's specialty. A very nice respite from these trying covid times. Can't wait to visit again next season.

We visit Cooke city Montana on a regular basis, we have eaten at most of this towns restaurants but for one reason or another never eaten at The Bistro. We arrived this evening at 7.50 pm and were promptly seated. The waitress took our drink orders, after about ten minutes brought them to our table. We noticed 3 tables with customers that were already seated prior to us waiting for their food. We do not mind paying good money for good food and service. We sat with not even bread and butter for 45 minutes only to have the waitress come out and tell us that they had no more potatoes for our meal, it was French fries or nothing. It took another 20 minutes to actually get our dinners. My steak had no seasoning on it not even salt and pepper, my wife’s chicken had no seasoning at all either. The waitress was frazzled the entire time we were there, actually stating to another customer she was tired of running back and forth to the kitchen. If you want Mediocre food, horrible service at a premium price then this is the place for you.

Amazing food. Had cup delicious chili and spilt grill cheese. So good went back next after driving through Lamar one more time. The first day overheard a lady say the trout was the best she ever had and so we went back next day. She was correct! It was amazing. Gabrielle does a great job of managing all the tables in the dining area. Stop you will not be disappointed

Dined here in June. We sat outside and the views were beautiful. Burgers and fries were tasty. We were there early in the season and the best part of the meal was getting to talk to the owners for almost and hour. Wonderful and interesting couple!

This place has changed over the years. Didn’t used to be very good but now it has an outstanding menu. We had a wonderful meal here one night of our stay in Cooke City. The Fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, lamb chops and the Fettuccine Bistro were all winners. Our hat is off to the chef. Please keep your quality up, we’ll be back next year. Breakfast was also very good there at The Bistro.

Great place to stop for breakfast on the way into or out of Yellowstone. My eggs were cooked perfectly and the bacon was crispy. Service was great and the coffee and tea were hot. Breakfast for two of us was $32 including tip.

Outside seating if you want. Typical American menu, salads, burgers, sandwiches/soup...and New York Strip, which was pretty darn good! It's really cute inside, very comfy and the servers have personality. Great stop after driving on the Chief Joseph! Menu is different if dinner vs lunch (for example, no appetizers at lunch), and there is a surcharge if paying by credit card, I think it's 3.75%. Oh, and the salads are good here, fresh spring greens, no iceberg!

Waited 50 minutes for eggs bacon and toast. Waitress brought our drinks and never returned to the table. Finally decided to give up waiting on our food. As we were walking out the door, the waitress came out of the kitchen with our order. The tables around us were waiting just as long. Wouldn't recommend wasting your time or money here. The log cabin cafe down the road in silver gate is a much better option.

The food was great. Service was good. It was a Saturday in July and the town was fill even though you can't get to YNP from here through the NE Entrance. They were busy and some things were low on supply, be patient it is a remote location. Be kind and enjoy the visit.

Best burger I’ve had in a while. Had a smoky taste, could tell it was super fresh. French fries and service were A+. This appeared to be the only restaurant open every time we passed through Cooke City, highly recommend.

We went to the place because the orig. place we wanted to go was closed that day for maintenance. (Miners Saloon). I ordered a burger, that was good. However, my wife and her cousin ordered a shrimp alfredo (I think it was alfredo, the one pictured here by another traveler, I am not a seafood eater). The shrimp was almost non-existent. As we sat there talking one of our crew happened to look over and see our waitress, with her shoe off, PICKING HER FEET. No, I am NOT making this up. Earlier she was outside of the window petting a dog. I hope she washed her hands, not sure. Needless to say we did NOT return. Do not go here, I can only question the cleanliness of this place if they have servers that do this.
