We were visiting relatives in Bozeman, and lucked into the Bistro...we were seated upstairs in our own private dining room so less bistro like and we were all pleasantly surprised the locals who we were visiting hadn't know of the place and were equally surprised....All the food was great, selection was good as was the wine selection...so really can't say too much more other than we had a good time and delicious mealsMore

This is by far my favorite restaurant as it's so much more than just a place to get a meal. The combination of fine connoisseur-level food, wine and desserts along with world-class service all blend into an intimate atmosphere reminiscent of Europe making the South...9th Bistro experience calming , reflective and romantic. For travelers - it will be a memorable evening in Bozeman, and for locals like my wife and I -It is a nearby getaway that is both refreshing and delicious.More

Due to covid, it has been a long time since we’ve been here. We were glad to see familiar staff and menu. We had a wonderful meal outdoors. The Crack Tart for dessert was amazing. You must have reservations here. We observed at least 10...people turned away as drop ins. Bozeman is a busy city and great restaurants like this are fully booked several days in advance. Thanks Hank and Lisa for a great meal. Marv and MollyMore

Delightful dinner! This was our first time to Bozeman and we chose this restaurant based on the reviews. We were thrilled! We were there when it opened, otherwise we wouldn't have been able to get seated, it's so popular. The steak tartar and the trout...spread on crostini were fantastic. Super fresh and flavorful. The beet salad was good but not that beet-y. More of a composed salad with a few beets. Good, but not great. The lamb chops we're also good but i wouldn't order them again. A bit too fatty and there wasnt anything remarkable about the flavor or the accompanying roasted root veggies. The chocolate cake for dessert was phenomenal. Dark chocolate base. A range of marzipan, raspberry and assorted mousse above. Complex, creamy and amazing. We were very happy to eat here and will be back whenever we visit townMore

I’m not one to write reviews but I felt I like this needed credit. This place is amazing!! I have been in Bozeman for 30 years and this is by far the best restaurant I have been too! The focus on local farm to table...and seasonal fare makes you feel like the chef actually cares about what is going out of the kitchen unlike some of the overpriced Sysco junk you find in Bozeman. And they support the local farms and ranches of Montana! What an idea! I had the ribeye, my wife had the scallops, and our friends had the lamb and steak. All locally sourced (except the scallops of course which where still to die for). Everything was unbelievable and cooked to perfection! Also I can’t say enough about the service! Our waitress was so much fun and very informative! I can’t wait to go back and see what is in season next! Thanks for a wonderful evening Chef Hrabovsky and the crew at south 9th! You all rock! Sorry I didn’t get the pics before the first bites. We couldn’t wait!More

We come here at two or three times a year. Every time we are in Bozeman we look forward to having dinner here. Unfortunately they lost their chef and now have a new chef. The food is not nearly as good. In fact it is...very disappointing. The New York strip steak had a wide band of fat and gristle along one side that needed to be trimmed. And it was not as tender as it had been in previous years. The lamb is not a lamb shank but now it is those little T-bone lamb chops and it was very tough. Plus it did not come with a starch like potatoes or polenta. It was also sitting in a pool of greasy liquid. The green beans had been a favorite of ours but they had a minty flavor and we did not care for them. They no longer do half salads as they have reduced the size of the salad but not the price. It seems like they are trying to save money by reducing the quality of their product. Unfortunately we will not be back again.More

When a restaurant changes chefs and its menu, there is always and unfortunately some confusion from returning customers familiar with the previous standard about what’s new and different, and why things change. People who read my reviews know that I'm critical of most Bozeman restaurants. That's because the food is average, the service staff is generally untrained, and the prices are overly high because tourists are ready to spend for a "Montana meal.". Good dining is expensive,...but this Bistro deserves it. The menu, while not large, is reliably well prepared and served with grace and professionalism. Their dishes are made with quality ingredients, locally sourced if possible, and fresh. Many downtown restaurants cost more than 19th Street Bistro with half the quality. When I want to spend on a quality meal, I choose South 19th Bistro.More

If you have only one night in Bozeman, this is the place. Try sampling their appetizers and having so so many great French tastes. We did escargot, crab cake, scallops, shrimp & bruschetta, all with a fabulous Cote de Rhine Red. Ask for Sabrina, who...was a delightful waitress. My wife and I absolutely agree with the restaurant’s # 1 rating on Trip Advisor. We will be back.More

The bistro wait staff was excellent! From the halibut to the chicken marsala and the beef dish all were delicious. While the restaurant has a very upscale atmosphere we were warmly welcomed even though our attire was very Wintery and a bit casual.

I took my wife and 2yr old daughter to the South 9th Bistro for a family date. A friend recommended the prosciutto wrapped scallops for an appetizer. We got those and the escargot. Both were amazing. The scallops were cooked perfectly and I had to...fight my daughter for the last snail. I've been thinking about the perfectly toasted bread dipped in the leftover garlic butter ever since. For dinner my wife got a halibut dish with asparagus risotto and tomatoes. DELICIOUS! I got the cognac marinated ribeye with Mac and cheese and spinach. They cooked the steak to a perfect medium rare with an amazing sear on the outside. For the kids meal we went with macaroni and cheese and she was raving "this is the best macaroni I've ever had." For dessert we split The Black Beast that was just the right amount of rich and sweet that I crave in a Dessert. Our server, Lisa, was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the food menu. Her wine knowledge superceded all. I asked for a not sweet white bottle and she brought out a Coute du Rhone that was perfect. I asked for a red with dessert and she brought out a perfectly paired pinot. She also thought we should try a port with dessert and it was a great pair! We look forward to our next visit!More
