Hundreds of excellent online reviews, local word of mouth, and foodies all agree that South 9th Bistro is the best of Bozeman for a relaxed, fine dining experience. Located just south of Main Street on 9th Avenue, the Bistro is easy to find - by day, by its distinctive orange Victorian facade, and by night, by its many windows aglow with the warmth and comfort of the space within. Seating at the Bistro is available both inside and (seasonally) outside. Inside the Bistro, seating on the main floor is open and upbeat, while seating on the second floor is a bit cozier and more intimate. The second floor also features a separate private dining area that can comfortably accommodate up to 10. The

We loved our meals and visited twice during our stay in Bozeman! We loved our meals - started with bruschetta with the most amazingly tasty tomatoes!, then enjoyed the kale salad and -beef-bourguignon. Our next visit I tried the spinach salad and scallops- so amazing!!...The desserts are fabulous too!More

I took my wife and 2yr old daughter to the South 9th Bistro for a family date. A friend recommended the prosciutto wrapped scallops for an appetizer. We got those and the escargot. Both were amazing. The scallops were cooked perfectly and I had to...fight my daughter for the last snail. I've been thinking about the perfectly toasted bread dipped in the leftover garlic butter ever since. For dinner my wife got a halibut dish with asparagus risotto and tomatoes. DELICIOUS! I got the cognac marinated ribeye with Mac and cheese and spinach. They cooked the steak to a perfect medium rare with an amazing sear on the outside. For the kids meal we went with macaroni and cheese and she was raving "this is the best macaroni I've ever had." For dessert we split The Black Beast that was just the right amount of rich and sweet that I crave in a Dessert. Our server, Lisa, was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable about the food menu. Her wine knowledge superceded all. I asked for a not sweet white bottle and she brought out a Coute du Rhone that was perfect. I asked for a red with dessert and she brought out a perfectly paired pinot. She also thought we should try a port with dessert and it was a great pair! We look forward to our next visit!More

Charming old home tastefully decorated in coral colors in French bistro style. Proscuitto wrapped scallops were insanely good. Great pasta and coquille St. Jacques. We loved our dinner so much we returned for a beef night and were happy all over again. Michelle was our...server both times and she is top notch. So warm, genuine, and efficient. Highly recommend.More

Great place! The TA reviews are spot on! came here for anniversary dinner and were not disappointed! Sabrina our server was attentive and friendly. We ordered the kale salad, grilled shrimp and scallop, “black beast” seafood ravioli and of course the lamb shank. Everything was...divine. We had a pleasant conversation with owner Hank and were saddened we didn’t see the wonderful famous neighborhood cat! Come here for great dining experience you will not be disappointed!More

Found great reviews on TA and our expectations were far exceeded!! We live in the “foodie” town Jackson, Wyoming-wish we had this restaurant there, but you’d never be able to get a reservation!! We’ve travelled all over the world for business and this place is...world class! Escargot was best we’ve ever had as was the steak au poivre. Halibut was prepared perfectly and the asparagus risotto reminded me of great risotto in Florence or Milan. Servers were friendly and created the warm atmosphere. Can’t wait to go back! Bravo!!More

Going to Bozeman and looking for a fantastic culinary experience? Be sure to make reservations at the 9th St. Bistro, you will not be disappointed! My husband and I dined there for our fifth time last night and as usual, it was a spectacular meal!...We go to Missoula a few times a year now that our daughter and her family have moved there and stay in Bozeman on our trek out. Last night my husband had the Beef Bourguignon served with haricots verts & garlic mashed potatoes and it was again, phenomenal! I had the Halibut with the asparagus risotto and my goodness, it just melted in my mouth and the flavors were amazing! The service was above & beyond wonderful with great recommendations from our server. And the owner stopped by and checked in with us which we always appreciate.More

We went there with great expectations. All of them were exceeded. We are on a road trip, and Bozeman is one of our stop. Following Trip Advisor recommendations, we decided to make reservations at the restaurant. I just want to say, dinner was excellent. My...son requested the Bruschetta, and I had a taste of the arugula and the crostini with the tomatoes. The only thing that I can say is that the arugula had the same flavor as the ones that I ate in the restaurants in Paris, as well as the Loire Valley, sweet and without the bitterness the arugula sometimes has, with a hint of orange infused flavor. Very refreshing. I requested the escargots. Needless to say, they were very good, not salty at all, and pleasant to the palate. The baguette accompanying it was warm with a hint of garlic flavor. My husband requested a beet salad and the only thing I heard was: This is amazing. My husband and my son requested, as main course, the Beef Bourguignon; my daughter, the Chicken Marsala; and I, the Butternut Squash Ravioli. The only thing that I heard after the first bite was excellent. All of the sudden, the conversation ended. This is the best compliment we can give to the Chef. My raviolis tasted great. The pasta was very light and the filling very flavorful. The sauce different than the usual served with this dish, creamy and with a very delightful taste. For dessert my husband and my son requested the Banana Bread Pudding, and I, the Chocolate Mousse. They were all excellent. Service was friendly, prompt and impeccable. We were so satisfied that we wanted to go back. But, unfortunately, the restaurant does not open Sundays and Mondays. If you are in the Bozeman and you want to have a excellent dinner, this is the place. With all honesty, it worth the price.More

Saw ratings on Trip Advisor and decided to splurge. Nice wine list and had a great California Zen and the wife had a Chardonnay. Chicken Marsala, Steak with pepper sauce, and Beef Burgoyne were are super. We split desserts of Lemon tart and Banana bread...pudding with salty caramel sauce. Not cheap, but very good food.More

9th st Bistro has a lot to boast about but they seem very humble about the great food served. I had the filet with truffle risotto a house salad and wine, The house salad was a super large portion of the freshest veggies and perfect...dressing! Steak was cooked to my exact liking. I'd recommend this place to anyone. I love a place that you can wear jeans and a tee and get 5 star food, 9th bistro is that place.More

Not a great experience. I would not return here. We had two nights in Bozeman and based on TripAdvisor reviews expected this to be one of the best dinners of our two-week travels through Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. We ate outside on the front patio....The location is on a side street in a so-so neighborhood surrounded by homes with a house next to it where we could hear the resident calling their cat (who also visited our table as we dined outside). We arrived early and wanted the lamb shank, but they were already out by 6:30 PM! My halibut was only okay, nothing special. Our server, to her credit, was personable and knowledgeable. This is not a "French" restaurant as it is portrayed. Disappointing location and setting, so-so food and not worth the price.More
