If you are a foodie or just enjoy high quality food, you'll love Lilac! The food is fresh - farm to table and amazingly flavorful. Thom, the manager, is outgoing friendly and knows food! His passion shows through his job in this restaurant. He gave...recommendations an they were spot on. Billings is not just a "meat & potatoes" city and Lilac puts it on the map with some of the most amazing food. Living in a "food" city and visiting Billings, I was so impressed. The restaurant is quaint and full of character. Megan the hostess was great and friendly and really added a lot to the evening. Thank you everyone at Lilac, the best dinner I've had outside of the Twin Cities in a long time!More

Wonderful gourmet restaurant. Tonight my wife had the burger, I had the pork chop. Best French fries in the state! Chop was tender and cooked perfectly. Wine was “Surprise Squirrel” red, served perfectly and very tasty. Nice decor, service by nicely dressed, sophisticated, pleasant people....Always a nice dinner, have eaten here about 10 times. Our go to place for dinner in Billings, and there are many excellent places to eat here.More

Tom or friendly server was like a cool cousin guiding us through this unexpected culinary experience. The Hawaiian chicken sandwich has set the bar for any future luau. I love fries and am extremely picky...no worries here, as they are up to the hype and...the buttermilk sauce...omg. Try it...luv it! Lilac will not disappoint.More

Decided to come here due to it's proximity to our hotel. Walked in fact. The place has been around now for seven years, so sorry we missed it in previous visits. Owner Jeremy Engebretson has grasped the cool with fine dining in this renewed funky...district. Place is small, reservations probably a must but we lucked out just walking in! Ok, the food; Chef George Caldwell is truly a master of culinary genius . We ordered respectively, me the Seared Gnocchi, Right Brain had the pancetta. Word fail me on just how delicious both were. The gnocchis were seared and combined with pulled short ribs, aw, the flavour! Pancetta for hubby was combined with roasted peppers and rigatoni. The sauce was delicate but full of tasty goodness. He smiled the whole meal, me also to be truthful. Service was awesome! Our server was attentive, fun and very knowledgable. Obviously loved her job. I know you will be delighted with this establishment, we will be back! Shelly on the roadMore

A group of us were in town for a conference. We stopped in Tuesday night. Tom recommended trying the magnum wine (wonderful suggestion). We all tried different dishes. The duck breast entree was done to perfection... tender, perfectly seared, & seasoned. The brussel sprouts &...carrots with were a delightful pairing with the duck breast. The cilantro gave a wonderful brightness to the entire dish. My colleagues all agreed their dishes were great too. They said the dessert selections they had were surprisingly savory when you expect sweet (which was a nice touch).More

Unique breakfast… Delicious! Smaller venue in Billings on Montana Avenue. I’ve only been there a couple of times but if you want a special breakfast this is the place to go.

Great meal, unique and complex flavors. Lilac is a small quiet venue that provides an opportunity for conversation and great food. We really enjoyed the Braised leeks with ground lamb. It was delicious. I had the smoked tomato risotto for my main course . It...was extremely flavorful and enough for my lunch the next dayMore

It had been 2 years since we last visited Lilac because we didn't care for New Year's Eve dinner there then. This time it was Restaurant Week, so there was again a prepared menu, but you got to choose between 2-3 appetizers, entree' and desert....All of our choices were delicious. My husband is fussy about Ceasar salad and said it was the best he had had in a long time. He also said the crispy fried chicken was the best he ever had. I thought the shrimp with hearts of palm slaw and coconut sauce was amazing for an appetizer. The potato gnocchi and braised short ribs was delicious and I was pleased the meat was off the ribs and contained no fat at all. Of the two deserts the bread pudding with raspberry sauce and Earl Grey ice cream was the best. I didn't expect to like it because of the Earl Grey ice cream but the combination was great. The blackberry brickle with caramel sauce was also good, but not quite as good. We will definitely not let it be so long before we come back again.More
