This restaurant was very accommodating of our group of 7. We made reservations early to make sure we could get in while visiting Big Sky. The only reason that I gave a 4 instead of a 5 was our server. She was less than enthused to wait on us, even though we were spending well over $1000 on food and multiple bottles of wine. My group has all been servers before, so we are courteous and try to be as low maintenance as possible. At the end of the meal, I got the feeling that our server felt that she had done us a great service by giving us minimal attention and not even cracking a smile. I've lived in a Colorado mountain town and I get that visitors can be annoying, but then don't be in the service industry.

I had the Pork Chop Prime Rib with was excellent. My wife has celiac. She had the lamb chops and they were attuned to her dietary concerns were able to accommodate her. She loved her chops! We added a spinach salad as well which was quite good. Nice friendly atmosphere.

With Covid, cost of living in Big Sky, and limited employee choices, I was concerned about how the food and service would be on the second night after their fall break. I shouldn't have worried. The oysters were again fantastic and the tender elk and succulent duck were worth fighting over. 5 stars to the chef yet again. And the persons: taking our order (had to cancel our reservations due to illness of one) and delivering the food were friendly, competent, and gave the impression they were delighted we had ordered. It made a difficult day turn out enjoyable. Thank you staff!

After careful consideration of all of the fabulous choices in Big Sky, for our 20th Anniversary we drove 1 hour to try Olive B’s. The menu seemed unique and well put together. We both really wanted a great steak & so we ordered the Ribeye w truffle oil mashed & broccolini w a side of asparagus. I have never ever had a tough med rare ribeye with luke warm mashed & bitter very eldante asparagus. We have had much better ribeyes for half the price at much lesser quality restaurants. For $40 a plate I would be expected a perfect delicious mouth watering steak with hot mashed potatoes. We had such a great time having amazing sushi appy’s at Blue Buddha and walking around the farmers market buying fresh veggies & cheeses, then the dinner just dampened the evening. The staff was nice, but again with a great looking menu, I was so hopeful that they wouldn’t just be sub-standard as so many resort restaurants think they can do. We spend a lot of time in Big Sky all year long, every year & compared to the other selections in town, I would not recommend Olive B’s.

Dined here last week and was astonished at how rude the servers were for what is the top rated restaurant on TA. Our server, a young blonde headed girl, told us the specials before we even took our jackets off then when my wife asked if she could repeat them we got an actual eye roll and sigh as if we were bothering her. The food was good but with service like that for what is a relatively expensive dinner we’ll take our business elsewhere.

Terrible place—what a disappointment. We went there to celebrate my birthday. I had requested a nice table by a window. We were given a table right by the open kitchen in a dark space, with the windows covered with blinds. After requesting to speak with the manager, she told us that she could seat us outside and while she could not tell how long we’d need to wait, it shouldn’t be long. We sat at the terrible table and ordered a bottle of wine. We waited for over 1.5 hours. During that time we were never offered bread (they were serving bread to others). The manager, who was unfriendly, clearly lied to us. By the time we were escorted outside, the restaurant was almost empty. The food came out and it was okay, but certainly not worth the wait or the money. Then we continued to wait for the bill—nobody came, so I had to knock on the window to get their attention. Nobody said happy birthday, let alone did anything special. Terrible place, avoid at all cost. Not a single good table in the restaurant, hot, with poor air circulation, and the noise level is unbelievable. Oh, and the reviews that mention views of the town or the mountain are simply incorrect. The restaurant is located in a strip mall and the location is simply pathetic. Do yourself a favor and go to Bucks or Ousel & Spur Pizza instead.

We arrived a couple minute’s earlier than our reservation, which was right when they opened, so we could modify from four (three adults and one child) to five and the hostess in no uncertain terms, let us know this was unacceptable. We even expressed absolute understanding if we had to wait. In her attempt to evasively admonish us, she sort of reminded me of a person who could tell you to take a long walk off a short cliff while smiling the whole time and holding your hand til jumptime. We were celebrating the adoption of our two youngest children and our oldest was excited he was able to meet us. We could have let her set the tone, but that’s too much power granted to a hostess, in my opinion. We sincerely appreciated her not making a bigger deal about our modifying our party than she already did, especially since it made for quite a bit of an awkward imposition for us. The rest of the evening was a complete about face!! I cannot remember one of our waiters names (we started with Julie and ended with a gentleman;) however, both were very attentive and kind, even considering we added ONE warm body to our party of four. Service was impeccable and quite efficient!! Drinks were amazing. Complimentary chef plates were cute and tasty. French onion soup was probably the best we’ve ever had only in close competition with Bern’s Steakhouse. Our daughter had the “soup du jour” & she also felt it was the best clam chowder she’s ever consumed. I felt the menu looked amazing but in all honesty, subsequent dishes were a bit lackluster in presentation. I ordered the bison strip and while tasty it comes with steak fries, legit steak fries. Immediately drew me back to Steak & Ale days when you’d have that plastic pick stating steak temperature arrive to your table. Don’t get me wrong, we love fries but for the elegance of ambience in this establishment, it felt quite elementary of a pairing choice. Dessert was phenomenal: crème brûlée, brownie, ice cream, all superb!! We definitely recommend Olive B’s and look forward to returning.

I dine all over the world including Michelin rated restaurants. We enjoyed the food here as much or more than these rated restaurants. Olive B’s Salmon Nicosie was prepared to perfection. The lamb also prepared medium rare with delicious mint sauce. Book reservations days in advance if possible. Our driver took us to the wrong restaurant which resulted in 30 minute late arrival. Friendly staff was happy to accommodate us and made sure we got a booth.

We booked online and looked forward to experiencing the #1 fine dining restaurant in Big Sky. The location is non-descript on the end of a strip mall shopping area. Inside was a normal setup with a central kitchen and moderate amounts of seating. The menu had some nice starters and we opted for the Blue Cheese crème brûlée. The cocktail menu was limited but had some nice offerings so we each got a drink. After the starter the entrees were underwhelming. For the location they didn't have much in the way of local sourced fare. Alaskan salmon, Maine lobster, Gulf shrimp...nothing from Montana or surrounding area. Best I could select was the bison bolognaise which was lean on protein/meat sauce and not seasoned with much else. It may have been a sleeper kids menu item... The eggplant burrata also disappointed. The "crispy" was being covered in breading and soft eggplant inside. We opted against dessert, cut our losses and left without refreshing our drinks.
This is not to detract from our server and the overall service was prompt, courteous and friendly.
Follow up to the meal...after leaving and talking with a local a few days later we got a fuller picture. The restaurant has a new chef/manager and they have been changing the menu slightly but without too much disruption to keep the loyal locals coming in. As a business model, I totally understand. That said, the locals are content with some pretty average fare and someone from outside coming in for a fine dining experience should probably skip it.

Great restaurant offers crafted drinks, great food and ambiance. Staff is awesome, accommodated our schedule change and were able to seat us with 50% occupancy due to COVID. Host, bartender/waiters are friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. Highly recommended!

Well, I devoured my first bison burger - my baseline from now on. It was delicious: medium rare, cheddar cheese, red onion, lettuce, tomato, onion ring, and topped with a delicious bbq sauce.
The hand cut steak fries were delicious.
My server was friendly and professional.
No wonder that this restaurant deserves it #1 ranking.

This was recommended to us by a local. We went for anniversary dinner, and the food was amazing. My husband said the eggplant parm was best he ever had, and I loved my shrimp and grits. Wen ended up asking to eat on the front porch area because inside was too noisy to carry on a conversation. The mud pie dessert was outstanding as well— only reason I did not give a 5 star was noise level. Liz, our waitress, was fabulous!

Good food, good service, average at best. Friendly staff, and good atmosphere. One of my biggest pet peeves; dirty plates, silverware and shredded appetizers sitting in the middle of the table for a prolonged period of time. If I have to remind someone to take the dishes and clear the table greater than twenty min, its an issue.

My husband and I enjoyed our dine in meal so much we ordered takeout 2 days later. The Bleu Cheese Creme Brûlée was like nothing I had ever had before, stacked yumminess of rich bleu cheese spread with arugula and thinly shaved roasted duck. The best dish was their Wild Game Bolognese, a huge, rich serving; plenty for lunch or dinner the next day. My husband loved his elk medallions. We also enjoyed their crab cakes and calamari with our takeout meal. A must stop on your stay in Big Sky.

We made a special drive to Big Sky for a lunchtime visit to this highly rated restaurant. Their website boldly announced “We are open!” and listed daily lunchtime hours. Upon arrival, the restaurant was locked up tight, with a printed message on the door that lunch operations have been indefinitely suspended because of a worker shortage. We feel it is disrespectful to customers to make this announcement solely at the door. In the age of the internet, a change in operating hours must be communicated online. We hope your remaining employees are being treated with just a bit more care. Best of luck getting everything back on track in Big Sky, we’ll try again another time.
