Our dinner at Horn and Cantle was absolutely fabulous. We heard they had a new chef, so we had to make a visit during our trip to the mountains. The ambiance is one-of-a-kind and the food is delicious. We enjoyed everything from the salmon spread...and beet salad starters to our after dinner cocktails and dessert. Make sure you visit when you’re extra hungry because you’ll want to try everything. Don't even get me started on the cocktails, they are out of this world. The chefs and mixologists at Horn and Cantle are truly talented and have mastered their craft. Make sure to make reservations ahead of time and add this place to your itinerary. Cheers!More

We read great things about this place, but it was very hard to get a reservation online between 6-8pm. We came for lunch on a Saturday and had a great meal. I had the 1/2 sandwich 1/2 soup meal and it was very good. My...wife had the kale salad and added the grilled chicken. My daughter had the elk mac n cheese and both items were also very good. This place had great ambiance and service was friendly and efficient.More

Couldn’t of been happier with our experience, from cocktails to dessert, everything was spectacular. Our server Brandon made our visit even better with his knowledge of the menu and wine list, which is quite impressive.

We heard rave reviews about this place but it was not up to par with other fine dining experiences we have had. The ambiance was wonderful, rustic and authentic decor but the food was disappointing. The fried chicken was HARD and very dry, we didn’t...even finish it. The meatloaf was okay but based on our experience we would not go back. We also had menus that reflected different prices for the same items so there’s attention to fine detail that is missing too (fried chicken listed for $28 on one menu and $36 on another for example).More

Good morning Angela, I am sorry for the inconsistency with respect to the menu as well as the lack of attention to the food, this is not a good reflection of what we represent as a company. I would love to invite you back in...More

We have visited the Horn and Cantle for the past several years and absolutely loved it every visit. We were so looking forward to our annual visit this year and made it the first reservation on our list for our week in Big Sky. Our...disappointment cannot be expressed in this review!! The chef has been replaced with someone from Chicago and there seems to be absolutely no understanding of what his Montana restaurant is about. The bar cannot compare to years past. Drinks are not nearly as good as last year. Menu is limited... and we totally understand that. But the food is not even in he same league as years past. Super dissatisfied with the food and drinks. Bartender was rude and didn’t want to wait on us, totally the opposite of our experience in he past. I would be very leery of coming back here in the future.. We hope it will go back to the way it was!! But for noe, it is incredibly disappointing!!More

Be sure to make a reservation well in advance or be prepared to wait up to 2 hours for dinner. Our table was ready for us when we arrived and the service was attentive and friendly. Craft drinks were good with some homemade ingredients like...the gin drink with apricot jam— yum! Whiskey flight had solid samples, including local whiskeys. Fave drink at the table was the Bramble. Everyone loved the fondue because of the Emmenthaler cheese used was so good. Smoked elk meatballs were very tasty. Pro-tip: if you order the fried chicken for dinner, it’s enough for 2 people if you’ve had starters too! Faroe Island Salmon was nicely prepared and the Bison Meatloaf was delicious. Be sure to bring your appetite and have the best meal of your trip to Big Sky!More

By far my favorite place to eat in Big Sky! Make sure you make reservations and wear appropriate shoes! I made the mistake in wearing heel booties and it is a little walk from the parking to the entrance! We got the elk meatballs and...bison dinner. They specially made me a vegetarian dish and it was amazing! Can't wait to go back.More

With CV19 BS... we knew we needed to make dinner reservations in advance... so I booked our dinner places a week or two in advance. Horn and Cantle was one of the recommended places, but they only had 5:30 and 8:30 reservations available.. so we...opted for the later one. I probably should've called to see if our table was ready ahead of time, but regardless it was when we arrived. The hostess and waitstaff was pleasant and friendly... and the large log cabin style banquet room was rustic and made us feel like being in Montana... We started with cocktails... a barrel aged manhattan and a Monkey and the engineer... both house drinks were well made and pleasing to the eye... we typically share multiple items so that we can try more things.. so we did the Swiss style fondue.. with apples and sourdough bread... with was IMO more of a queso than a traditional swiss fondue that strings out... then we split the Bison short ribs and the shashito peppers.. the peppers were mild and flavorful.. but the Bison short ribs fell short as they were very hard to even cut from the bones... and chewy... it was late, so we didn't complain... for dessert we did the hot cookie and ice cream...More

Inconsistent. Burger had enough gristle to substitute for concrete. Salmon was almost flavorless. Mushroom bruschetta was very good. Fried chicken was loved. Too pricey to be that poor on quality control.

We stayed at Lone Mountain Ranch, and ate at Horn and Cantle 3 times a day, The food was incredible, the ambiance lovely, and the staff was stellar.
