We had no high expectation for this restaurant in a tiny village in the middle of nowhere. To our pleasant surprise we discovered a little gem. At first we noticed the well planned design of the restaurant and the reach and divers menu. Our group...of nine ordered all sorts of different dishes. The service was quick and efficient, but more importantly everybody’s food was simply delicious. We liked it so much that we returned for lunch the following day. Again the whole experience was perfect. Would highly recommend them.More

Good delicious food with service that could be improved especially the weitress need to educate how to deal with customer who paying her wages. Menu card can changed because it is over used and little bit unclean.

Rustic interior with on wall historic pictures of village and inhabitants , life and the restaurant itself. If a place has been around for such long time, typically means the food is good. We were not disappointed . We didn’t order game dishes though (...for which this restaurant is apparently well known) . Wild mushroom soup was fine, their “Hutai „gazdag” leves” which included bone marrow, egg, vegies and meat , was great. Wiener schnitzel and chicken dishes were fine. Servings were “ Hungarian size” - sizeable. For desert “Csöröge fánk házi baracklekvárral “ - twisted sort of doughnut accompanied by home-made apricot compote. Fuether info: Menu in Hungarian only ; rather limited vegetarian options (as still typical certainly in Hungarian countryside ) ; no vegan option.More

We went here for my birthday dinner. The restaurant made it very special - white tablecloths, and centerpieces. The food was delicious - and the portions enormous. It was enough for two meals. The desserts were great too - we went back the next day...for more dessert!More

It's very good value for the money. They have big portions and tasty dishes. The deer dishes are made from local meat and they are very tasty. If you are travelling or hiking in the area this place definitely worth a visit.

We've eaten here 5 or 6 times now and unfortunately won't be returning. The last time my wife and I we were there the food just wasn't quite up to it. Our most recent visit was on the Saturday of Easter weekend 2017. After spending...the day visiting several attractions nearby we decided to stop for dinner at around 6pm. Due to the number of tourists in the area I expected the restaurant to be quite busy but only 4 tables were occupied. Some of the decor is looking a little tired with the wild boar skin coming off the wall in our booth. The waitress was pleasant and polite and we ordered our drinks and meals. I was quite surprised at how quickly our food arrived. My wife and I had ordered similar meals. Unfortunately, the venison and sauces on both our plates were barely luke warm. They were tasty but really should have been warmer. I approached the kitchen hatch and politely tried to get the attention of anyone in the kitchen but no-one answered me, even though there were a couple of kitchen staff only 3 metres away. Eventually, one of the waitresses emerged and I ponted out to her that our food was not warm enough. She apologised and took our plates away and returned them 5 minutes later still no warmer. I don't what she did but the meat and sauces were not removed from the plates so they weren't warmed in the oven or in a pan and the plates weren't hot so they weren't warmed in a microwave. My guess is that she didn't do anything. We would have had another drink and a dessert but were so disappointed with the food and service we decided to leave. We pointed out to the waitress that the food was still barely luke warm and that we wouldn't be returning. She apologised again but didn't offer an explanation. It's not the place it used to be.More

It is a great location in a small village and serves great food. It is pretty noisy at night with people leaving the bar though

We visited this small hidden village Répáshuta, when we found this restaurant in the center of the village. The restaurant was basicly empty, there were 2 oldboys drinking beer and the one and only waiter who greeted us. We didn't have great expextations to be...honest, but we had the best roar meal ever (later we found out that the restaurantnis actually famous for its roar meals) and had the best time in this peacful village with the nice waiter who told us some interesting facts of the village history. Highly recommended, absolutely perfect.More

Lovely place between Miskolc and Eger. Traditional "highlander" food with lots of options of wild boar, deer etc. Came here several times already, now on my own to have a special lunch experiance before leaving back to Miskolc. The place fits well to the surrounding...with the wooden tables, chairs and decorations. Kind waiters, i totally recommend it. ;)More

This restaurant is one of my favourites, I have been here 3 times so far and was never disappointed. It is a great place to have a late lunch or dinner after a nice trip on the Bükk plateau. The food is mostly traditional, and...their venison is just perfect. The prices are very reasonable, the atmosphere is pleasant, and if the weather is nice, you can have your meal on the spacious terrace. I highly recommend it to anyone.More

We arrived at this restaurant accidentaly whilst taking a Sunday drive through the Bukk mountains recently. The village of Répáshuta is set in a valley off the road between Eger and Lillafüred, surrounded by forests. The Vadász Étterem is well sign posted from the main...road. The word "vadász" means hunter in Hungarian and the decor and menu certainly reflect this. The walls are wood panelled and decorated with many skins and antlers. There is a main dining area and 3 rustic booths for diners. The menu is extensive and has many traditional and wild game dishes. I started with a deer soup followed by leg of venison in gravy with dumplings and only just managed to finish my food as the portions were huge. My wife could only eat her starter and half her main course, the rest was boxed up for her to take home. We daren't even look at the desserts...next time we'll skip the starter and have a main course and dessert. There was also a good selection of drinks available and the service was excellent, the waitress being polite and attentive. The cost for 2 starters, 2 main courses, 1 glass of wine, 2 bottles of water and a coffee was about 7,400 huf - a bargain. Would I recommend this restaurant? Absolutely! It offers a more extensive menu than any I've come across in Eger, the prices were cheaper and the portions larger. If travelling through the Bukk mountains it's well worth dropping down into the traditional village of Répáshuta and stopping off for a meal here. The restaurant is also a guest house. Not everything was perfect however. My wife's starter could have been slightly hotter as could my main course but this in no way detracted from our overall experience but the reason for not giving 5 out of 5 across the board.
