Went there for my Mother-in-Law's 93rd Birthday on Sunday as we had been once before and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was fantastic and my Mother-in-Law had enjoyed it. I made reservations and stated it was for a "93rd" Birthday celebration so, probably my mistake, assumed we would get a good table. This wasn't the case. We were... More

We stayed for a night last week. Very impressed with the standard of the room, which was spotless and spacious. Likewise, the restaurant was welcoming and food delicious. Breakfast the next morning was equally good and pleased to make the acquaintance of their lovely cats,(the owner took care to check we were comfortable with cats). It's on our list to... More

One of my favourite meals out. The staff were so friendly and helpful, with very fast service. The place is very cosy and homely. The food was of extremely high standard and of great value for money. I will definitely visit again.

We arrived here after looking up places to visit in the area for tea. Myself and a few friends were in the area and judging by TripAdvisor it looked like a nice place to visit with excellent reviews. Once we got there we asked if there would be any possibility of fitting us in. They said that 8:30pm would be... More

A great English pub, in a lovely renovated old building. The staff are friendly, the food is excellent and there is a number of quality Ales on tap. There is always something happening and the patrons are welcoming. There is accomodation available, which is highly recommended. 5 minutes to Lotus & Hethel Engineering, making it convenient for work. Equally suitable... More

I visited on Saturday evening with my mum. I rang at around 5pm to book a table for that same evening, and despite them being very busy, I was offered a number of available slots. We chose to eat early, at 6:15pm. We dined in the 'Victorian restaurant', which was very nice. It soon filled up, but despite being very... More

Went for my Dad's birthday. It's our local pub from work and the staff are always friendly and attentive. We were given a table in the Victorian dining room, which has a beautiful ambience. We were given a specific waitress who attended to us all evening. Drinks were served at the table, our order was promptly taken and we were... More

Staff could not have been more friendly or helpful - lovely setting, great food and rooms very clean and comfortable. Party in a private area with access to gardens, everything went smoothly and breakfast next day was just as good as meal previous evening.

We are a family run restaurant and free house in the heart of the Norfolk countryside, yet only fifteen minutes from the city of Norwich.

The ingredients for our menus are sourced locally wherever possible, we grow our own herbs, and our free range eggs are from a local farm, and we buy our fish fresh direct from Lowestoft.

Whether you are looking for a delicious traditional steak and ale pie, beer battered fish and chips (large!!) A sizzling skillet of Duck Breast with oriental vegetables and Hoisin sauce, or indeed something a little different from our evening special selection, we know you will be spoilt for choice with our extensive menu.
We also have some delicious vegetarian options to tempt you.
Oh, and try to leave room for one of Tristan's legendary desserts!

Our recently opened eight en suite luxury Guest rooms are available now at a charge of £80 per room and our delicious breakfast just £8.95.

During the warmer months, we look forward to offering outside dining, either in our gardens or on our sunny terrace, and we can now cater for larger parties, wedding receptions and celebratory functions.

We would love to welcome you to The Bird in Hand, do please come and visit us soon!
