As you may have read China Garden is our go to Chinese place. We usually spend $40 or more, but get a ton of food, and freeze the hot and sour soup. The hot and sour soup is the best we have tasted (and that included the Bellaire Section of Houston as a comparison.
This tiny family run restaurant has added an inexpensive "combination plate," that includes an egg roll and fried rice along with a smaller entree. There are numerous combinations you can order, so don't think you are limited.
A great value and a great concept, especially since the overall meal is quite a bit of food.

I usually rave about the Chicken dishes, but being ventursome, I tried the mongolian beef. Why I waited this long.
The beef was tender, plenty of gravy and just plain mouth watering.
The order was piping hot and was ready for me when I got there.
The hot and sour soup was as marvelous as ever!
This is a must try restaurant. Everything is nicely spiced and not too salty.
This small family run restaurant is better than any other restaurant on Olive St. Road!

Love going for the lunch combos. All my friends I’ve taken with me like the food a prices. Device is always pretty quick and it’s never very crowded. Good hot and fresh meal for about $7.

The website said my food would be ready at 6:45 but when i showed up at 6:55 they were still making food for five other orders. I asked the lady when i should come back and she said thirty minutes. i come back thirty minutes later and she is making the order for the guy who's order wasn't supposed to be ready until 7:15. i ended up getting my food at 7:40 got home and half of it was cold and not very good. Do not believe the pick up times, a real bait and switch. Frankly i do not know how they are still in business.

Use to order the take
out and could not understand why the whole family swell up the next day so much!
I found out that they use MSG and stop ordering from them immediately! The veggies are always overcooked and brown, not to pretty to look at or good for your health!

Depending on what you get, this place is very good. For crab rangoons they are very tasty. The chicken can be under cooked and I cannot recommend many dishes because it depends on the day you get it. Chicken fried rice can be good..again, depending on if the chicken is cooked all the way.

The foood was yummy!!

The owner's still work every day, a brutal week, but they are not to busy to smile at a customer that they recognize.
My wife and I consider China Garden the go to place when we have that need for wonderful hot and sour soup, which we believe is the best in the city.
The boo-boo? I don't hear on the phone so well and the young lady misunderstood me when I asked for extra gravy for each of the three entrees we ordered (if you think pizza and beer are not just for breakfast anymore), then you have not tried egg foo young...yummy. The goof up (probably mine) was that we got 3 orders of extra gravy but they were all for the egg foo young...Disapointing but not a calamity.
As usual, the food was wonderful and it is the best Chinese in the metro. Sorry Lu-Lu you have the trophys, but that is because China Garden does not get the traffic you do, it is clearly a better quality restaurant.

I am reminded of Yogi Berra's quip, no one goes there because it is too busy.
Well, it is Christmas Eve and being Jewish we had to go eat Chinese.
We could have gone to any Chinese Restaurant, but would have to fight the crowds, and subject to spotty service. Plus, consistency is an issue at many restaurants, not at China Garden.
China Garden is our go-to Chinese restaurant. Family run, the two chefs/order assemblers work at lightening speed and it still amazes me how they keep up with the volumne of business called in.
The crab rangoon (4 free if you spend $20.00) are the best I have ever eaten anywhere. We tried the beef fried rice and should have ordered the smaller portion, the quantity of food per order is enormous, and delicious.
The two young ladies who take orders, and act as cashiers are fast and efficient. They have the "front" of the house taken care of.
The food is not the only thing consistent about China Garden, my rating of straight fives is as good as I can give them.

Run by a family, the man and lady handle 99% of the kitchen duty.
We never call in our order, as it is fascinating to watch the speed and harmony in which they prepare your meal while standing at the corner.
Is the restaurant tiny, yes but we always take our food home to eat.
Are the portions generous? We average 2-3 meals on an entre and the soup is enough for 4 bowls. We buy 2-3 extra quarts of hot and sour soup to freeze at home.
It just does not get any better than China Garden, and it is vey inexpensive.

This is my place when I'm at work in chesterfield and want Chinese. I don't do delivery but instead always eat there. My friends I've taken over the past year also all have enjoyed it. Combos just went up 20 cents but still only $6.50 and you get plenty of food for that. Service is always quick and never any mistakes. Nice enough eat in restaurant. For the area it's nice to have some less expensive options for lunch!

Every time we visit China Garden, this family owned and run restaurant befuddles me, in a new and different way. Tonight the speed of preparing our meals, the wonderful spicy hot and sour soup and the best crab rangoon amazed us.
We always stock up on the hot and sour soup, because sometines, it is far easier to reach in the freezer for the delightfull, heavily loaded and wonderfully spiced soup.
My wife loves the cashew chicken and I am so hung up on the General Tsao's chicken, I cannot imagine ordering anything else.
The family who owns and works 7 days a week are amazing, they are industrious and work so hard for so many hours, I don't know how they do it.
P.F. Chang's is good but it is chain restaurant Chinese and cannot hold a candle to the China Garden. What a value, what wonderful service, and how wonderful the tastes.

So after eating here about 6 times now it's my cheap go to lunch when I want Chinese. Quick service and consistent food. I like all the dishes I've had and great lunch deals for only $6.35 Fountain soda runs up the bill so usually skip that. Never overly crowded so easy to get in and out of.

Had lunch here for the first time and probably going back next week to try more. It's your typical little Chinese place that's got the menu you've seen everywhere else. Good choice of lunch combos for about $6.25. Plenty of tables to dine in. Only wish was my moo goo gai pan had more chicken in it.

In the words of the great Yogi Berra, "Nobody goes there anymore, it is too crowded."
I am afraid if the word gets out about China Garden, the phone lines will be jammed and it will be hard to get in the door of this tiny, shopping strip Chinese take out.
A family run business, China Garden is unique for our family. Take your P.F. Chang's, LuLu or any other high end Chinese, give me the China Garden any day.
The family is just the absolute best with wonderful Crab Rangoon, Beef, Pork, or veggie eggrolls and has the absolute best Hot and Sour soup my wife and I have ever eaten. Your meal is made fresh, and tastes absolutely great.
I have had at least 10 different mains for either lunch or dinner, and one is better than the other. You call in and can order your meal as spicy as you wish.
The portions are incredibly generous, and the take out menu has coupons for various items, depending on how much you spend.
The downside for this restaurant is it's location, if you did not know it was next to Rick's Ace Hardware at the Lamp and Lantern Shopping Center just west of Old Woods Mill Road and Clayton, you would never find it. That is a shame, because China Garden and the family that runs the restaurant deserve your business.
Our family cannot find a better place to order take out. The restaurant is tiny with only about 4-5 tables.
