About
Competing as "The Southern Gentlemen's Culinary Society" competition barbecue team and opening Whole Hog Café in 2000, the Whole Hog Café founders Ron Blasingame, Mike "Sarge" Davis, and Steve Lucchi long devoted themselves to the pursuit of barbecue perfection. That is why it was an easy decision for our owner David Warren to make the move from Fayetteville in 2009 to open the first Springfield location on W. Sunshine and the second on N. Glenstone in 2014. David's own pursuit of barbecue perfection is reflected in the wildly popular dishes served in the Whole Hog Café Springfield - Burnt End Cheesy Corn and "The Sarge", of course named after his dear friend and founder Sarge Davis. David continues to carry out the proud tradition of the Whole Hog Café roots, competing in various barbecue competitions around the Ozarks. For nearly ten years Whole Hog Café Springfield has been smoking consistently perfect meats in the Ozarks. You'll see Pitmasters David and Charlie in house every day.

We had just enrolled in Marriott Bonvoy’s Eat around Town and was looking for a restaurant when we came across the Whole Hog Cafe. The reviews were excellent so we decided to eat there. The menu was excellent and I ordered the big platter with 3 kinds of meat and 3 sides. My hubby and I were going to share so I ordered a baked potato with all the trimmings and 2 extra sides. The price for the sides is only $2 which I think, is very reasonable. I was very pleased with my order - the meat was tender and flavorful and the sides, baked beans, potato salad and corn were very tasty. The beans and potatoes have bits of meat in them which added to the flavor. The corn was nothing I ever tasted before. It was mixed with cheese and I loved it! The baked potato is huge with a big potion of meat on top! It was way too much for 2 people to eat so we had leftovers for lunch and dinner the next day. I am looking forward to returning again.

My wife and I each had the lunch special. It was delicious and filling. The bun held up under the mound of pulled pork and my slathering of BBQ sauce. Always a good sign of a BBQ joint that understands the value and invests in their buns. The sides we had were equally good. The atmosphere is more of a diner that you walk up and order your meals. They are brought to your table. Plenty of parking and easily accessed from Glenstone and from I-44. I will be back again!

I am a BBQ snob. I was raised on good bbq and this place did not disappoint. Pulled pork sandwich was on point. Messy and delicious. The baked beans were slap ya momma good, if you want them to graduate to slap ya granny good then add the #5 sauce.

We decided to try this restaurant after reading great online reviews. My husband ordered ribs, coleslaw and baked beans. I ordered burnt ends, cheesy corn and smoked green beans. My husband said his meal was simply okay, but he wouldn’t go back. My meal was terrible. The burnt ends were nearly all fat and I had to comb through the chunks of fat to find the little meat was on my plate. What meat I could find amidst the fat was too greasy to eat. The cheesy corn left my mouth feeling like it was coated in butter, the green beans were flavorless and the roll tasted like it was from a school lunch cafeteria. We definitely would not recommend this restaurant.

I ordered the Whole Hog Platter (pulled pork, brisket and three babyback ribs. Unfortunately, when they were ready to wrap my carryout order, I was told there were no ribs. They substituted burnt ends and staff was helpful. When I got back to my hotel and opened my dinner, there was a ton of meat. The cheesy corn was cold, the meat was just bland and dry, and the potato salad was OK, but was mostly just potatoes and ranch dressing. I hated to leave so much meat uneaten, but it just was not moist or flavorful and the sauces weren't much help. Probably just stick with City Butcher in the future.

Had takeout from here this past week. Got the 3 meat platter with two sides. The Meats were sliced brisket, pulled pork and sausage. All were exceptionally good. After reading reviews I got the cheesy corn and the homemade potato salad. The cheesy corn was good but the potato salad was exceptional. The portions were good and so was the barbecue sauce. I would stop here again in the future.

We ordered two meals from the Whole Hog Cafe to be delivered to our hotel. The order arrived with no utensils or napkins. I contacted the Cafe and was informed, "I have a line out the door. What do you want me to do!" Then he added, "If you want utensils, you can come and get them." The delivered contents were mediocre at best with wilted salads and no butter for the dinner rolls. The hotel receptionists commented on the rudeness of the drive. so we suggested the hotel should not recommend this restaurant. That's how disgusted we were.

The young folks behind the counter, lack any interest or enthusiasm, in the job or customer service. Basically frumpy faces. Order the sliced brisket, coleslaw an salad. You would think with the awards on the ledges the food would have been awesome, not so much. Brisket was kinda tender but not delicious had some smoke flavor. I guess they depend on one of the 6 sauces to help you out with flavor.

Mediocre. Nothing impressed us about this place. I got the special for the day. Pulled pork sandwich 2 sides for $8. The meat definitely needed the bbq sauce for good flavor. I liked the variety of sauces to choose from. The cheesy corn was ok as were the beans. Probably won’t go back. The staff were nice.

This place never disappoints! The food is hot fresh, and delicious! The Cole slaw is fresh and crispy. The fried okra is not over cooked, nice and fresh. We got the pulled pork and sausages. Also, the variety of bbq sauces are good, you can mix and match them to make your own. Ow and the cheesy corn is good too. It’s all good!

My first time eating here and unfortunately will also be my last. I ordered the burnt ends plate with beans and cheesy corn. When looking for a place to seat myself, I noticed how dirty this place was. There were at least 5 tables with stacked up dirty plates and trash on the floor. I could understand a little if they were busy, but I only saw 2 other patrons. While waiting for my food, I noticed the cashier sit at the bar and start eating between helping customers. When my food arrived, I was again let down. The beans, corn, and burnt ends failed to resemble anything freshly prepared. The so-called burnt ends had a soggy texture, which seemed more like cubed brisket pieces saturated in a salty rub than the caramelized BBQ sauce bark you would expect. The beans tasted like a can of pork and beans with some meat mixed in. The one shining star was their spicy BBQ sauce, which i had had to use generously to consume what I was able. I am not one to leave overly negative reviews, but this place warranted it.

I was at Double Tree by Hilton and wishing to have a Ribs , American way . I arrive for dinner and only two table occupied. By the time i wAs ordering and paying , They deliver my request . 30 seconds to one full minute to have my full meal on the plate !! The ribs were ok . The fries and bred look like they were there for the past hour ! Everything taste good but ‘old’ , not fresh made. We have to serve ourselves for more drinks and there is only bear , not wine , and water , coke , etc,

Sopped by here on the 9th of June, between 4pm-5pm.Fairly good food,we had turkey, brisket, ribs and pulled pork. Really,no complaints about the food. However, the guy at the cash register was not very accommodating,at all. He pushed us to decide what he wanted us to order. Pushed us to go and sit down while the order was prepared.no one else in line.It only took around a minute and a half to pack up. Pushed us to choose sauces.Since we had never eaten there before,he decided to choose for us,we were taking to long. I asked for utensils and he only gave us 1 set, fork, knife and a spoon pack. Most likely,if we should ever return there,I will be better prepared for this man.

I had the jumbo pulled chicken sandwich with slaw. Excellent! The spicy BBQ was good, not as hot as I had hoped. One of my dinner guests was wanting mustard for her meal but none is available. I thought that was odd for a BBQ place. $10 for a well portioned sandwich. Highly recommend!
