Heard good things about this spot, their daily special was an Italian Cubano. If you can, order this!! Everything about it was amazing!!! Staff were all super nice and the deli was crazy busy. Can’t wait to get back here for a beer and sandwich!!

Jay Parrino has been an icon in Springfield market for years but hails from the St Louis Italian background. If you are looking for a clean and well run Italian deli that not only has sandwiches but awesome simple pastas with great sauces then look...no further. Carryouts for special events or parties they can also be your connection. Our company works in support of or do business with restaurants for over 50 years and this is at the top of my list for an awesome meal. This is a deli that also sells wine and beer. They sell more corned beef and pastrami than any other in the region.More

This is hands down my favorite place in town! The food is so rich and flavorful - try the Burnes or the Parrino Special! The service is always friendly and the atmosphere is very cool with grocery store vibe. I'm from St. Louis and I...swear this place could be on the Hill and you wouldn't think twice. Great place to have lunch or dinner. My only gripe is that I work so far away that I can't stop by more often. A+More

I had read all the great reviews and wondered if I was in the wrong place. ,A t this place a sandwich, special, 2 soups, 2 drinks and a dessert was $39..PRETTY HEFTY FOR LUNCH! The corn beef sandwich was awesome...the soups were watery....the quiche...was small and dried out...and the dessert was just ok, I was really looking foward to a new delightful experience and left very disappointed and wishing I had gone elsewhere. I will not be back or recommend this place to any of my friends.More

Cool concept....sadly, it ends there. I like the homey ambience of the restaurant, and the fact that if I wanted to buy authentic Sport Peppers or authentic Chicago style hot dog relish in jars, I can do that!!!! The staff was nice. The food......you know,...I REALLY wanted to like this place....and at the time I was really in the mood to eat some kick-butt Italian style food. Sadly, my wife and I were disappointed. I got the Salsiccia Po-Boy, which was a nice portion of food, but was BLAND with a capital B!!!! Even The sausage on the sandwich had almost zero flavor. My wife had the Italian Beef Sandwich....which was nice and juicy, but was also on the bland side. We shared an order of fries, that were also on the bland side. I have literally had Hospital food with more flavor!!!! Which again, perhaps we came at a bad time, and I shake my head everytime I go to Trip Advisor and see a restaurant in a city and it's rated in the top 100, and the food is lousy. Maybe we ordered the wrong items? Eh, either way....I might come back if someone else pays for it, but I would rather go to Jersey Mikes, or Penn Station, or Chicago Cheesesteak Company, or Mo' Beef.More

My son found this place on TA and so glad he did. We got there around 2pm so it wasn't very busy. My son got the Burnes sandwich and I was wanting a club but didn't see one on the menu. So I asked and...the guy behind the counter said sure we can make you one. We each had a bottle of pop total bill $26. Both of us were amazed how good the food was and the service was exceptional. I'd recomend this place. We decided next time we go to Springfield we will try their pasta.More

We stopped for lunch while visiting Springfield. I got the #11 Pastrami on rye and it was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. We really enjoyed our lunch here and will stop in again on our next visit to Springfield.

The Parino's Special and the Italian Beef are 2 truly unique and delicious subs that make this a go-to lunch spot. If you order the Italian Beef, I recommend trying it "Wet," which means they dip the entire sub in Au Jus sauce. Very reasonable...prices, large servings and quality ingredients. Don't let uninspiring outside of the building fool you, they put the focus on what counts and that's consistently delicious Italian subs!More

My wife and I stop there occasionally. The South-side Po'Boy is the Bomb!!! Love it!! The Italian Beef hits the spot too; same with the pasta's! Maybe the best in Springtown.

J. Parrino’s is a wonderful St. Louis style deli. The food is always spot on. This visit I had the corn beef sandwich since they had sold out of pastrami. It was great. I have never been disappointed here. I like to introduce new people...to this deli because there is something for everyone.More

My wife and I stopped by for lunch yesterday looking to find a great sandwich. She ordered the classic meatball and myself, NY Pastrami on rye. After we placed our order we took a seat in the small but comfortable dining room. It did not...take long at all for our food to arrive. Lets talk my pastrami first. The "authentic" NY Rye was not. It had no seeds and it just did not have what I am used to in a deli on either coast. A simple fix if the owner really wants to have "authentic" deli rye bread. The pastrami was lean, moist and very good. My wife's meatball sandwich was a big disappointment. The meatballs were dry and lacking flavor. They had been put in a nice roll that should have been toasted on the grill which would have made a big difference. It had very little cheese on top. Every place in town that I have ever ordered a similar item was much better. Butter and toast the bun, take the meatballs from a slow cooker in sauce to the bun, top with lots of great Italian cheese until it is bubbling hot, and throw a mild pepper on top. Do that and it will be much, much better. Bottom line, I really don't see us going back. And it was expensive, $20 for two items.More

A friend and I were going for lunch and wanted a really good deli sandwich. I had never been to this establishment before, but had heard of it. This very well could be a good-to place from now on. One of the best Italian Beef...sandwiches I have ever had. Be sure to order it "wet" rather than dry!More

We've been fans of J's food for years, but never tried the Burnes: the sandwich that "made Parrino's famous." The beef tenderloin melts in your mouth! For a quick meal when we have family in, it's easy to get a pan of lasagna, or meatballs...and a jar of Queen City marinara, and they are consistently delicious and reasonably priced.More
