This place is touted as the home of the first drive thru. They do a booming business and there was a line when we arrived. With only one register, it was a bit slow, but they took our order quickly. My mom had got us...a booth and we got situated. There was a flux of people coming and going and I enjoyed people watching. After a while, our food came out, but each of our orders was slightly wrong (no pickles on mine, no caramelized onions on my dad’s and my mom was missing her ham; she went and got it). The burgers were good and my mom and I shared her fries (yummy). It was a good meal, but they might need a few more workers to avoid mess ups and to help the line move faster.More

Maybe I was just hungry, but I think I heard angels sing as I ate this hamburger. We drove the entirety of Route 66 from beginning to end and anytime someone asks me about the trip, this is usually the first thing I talk about....And every time someone says the word hamburger, I think of Red’s. I would like to go back there and get a terrible hamburger so I could quit thinking about it.More

Road-trip with the family, here from Illinois. Checked the website for hours so we could make Reds part of our trip. Everything said closes at 9pm. Arrived at 8:30p and staff came out to tell us they close at 8p. Sorry 😕 another car arrived...after us, also looking to get dinner. Out of luck. Maybe make sure your website is up to date because everything online flows from that.More

This is a great place to go for an old-fashioned hamburger and fresh-cut fries. I ordered the double cheeseburger and friew. The burger was grill cooked and looked like the old fashioned burgers that were smashed on the grill and had edges that were a...little irregular. The burger tasted great and I loved the fresh-cut frenchfries. All reminded me of burgers I would get in the 1960's at Drive-ins in my home town. My wife had a single and it was big as well, but only had one patty. She ordered oniom rings with her burger and they were good too. I stole one. I found the experience very enjoyable. I could imagime we were pulled off of Route 66 and having a burger at the original locatiom. Soft drinks and milkshakes were the choices of beveradges. The atmosphere was very simple, but very clean. There were lots of booths and a few tables in the middle. You should try this place.More

We'd read the reviews prior to going, so only planned to go to see the sign, however we were there at dinner time and it seemed popular so decided to give it a try. Staff very friendly, decor is great, but the tables needed to...be wiped. First try - fries seriously hot, burger seriously cold so returned and second try - fries hot, burger hot. Fries 4/5 as a bit greasy, and burger 4/5 as a bit too much pepper / seasoning for personal taste, but much better than expected.More

I had high hopes for this place, judging from the pics (the hamburgers look awesome in the pictures!!!), and this place has been around for so many years, it has to be good, right??? Well, their chili was fantastic!!! Loaded with flavor, nice and thick,...meaty. The overall ambience of the place was nice, the restaurant was clean, service was decent...even the fries were pretty good (almost like what one would get at the state fair). Now onto the burger...mine was burnt, dry, lacking of any kind of seasoning. I even had jalapenos and grilled onions on mine, and it STILL couldn't polish that turd!!! Honestly, it was the worst burger I have ever had in the 14 years I have lived in Missouri (no joke!). McDonalds has juicier, better tasting burgers than what I had at Red's!!! If I didn't try the chili, this would have gotten fewer stars than 3, but they at least did some things right. I honestly think there wasn't enough going on for me to make a return visit...sorry!!!More

At first opening, the fries were plentifull. Now they are very skimpy!! Poor place to try to cut costs. Their fries are great. They make the meal. Don't try to cut costs by skimping on the food quantity. Love the place otherwise.

Today at Red's big burger I had an amazing dinning experience with my family who came from the lake for a visit. My parents, younger brother and his 11 year old daughter. The atmosphere was what I had hoped for the nostalgic throwback hamburger joint...it was great. My parents enjoyed not only their meal but the decor was perfect. I knew I picked the right spot as I watched my mom and dad walk the restaurant and look at the hundreds of pictures on the walls it brought them back to the time when they were at a hamburger place just like this from Elvis to The Three stooges and even some local celebrities it was really neat to see the atmosphere that Red had built over the years. The burgers came out hot and the fries were crispy along with the old fashion Root beer on tap we left full but not before our waitress Skylar made sure we got to select each of our favorite ice creams that she brought to us in a full big size sundae. I just want to say thanks to the staff this was a lunch that I know each time my family comes to visit me we'll be back to enjoy if you're in Springfield it's a definite must especially if you've never had that opportunity to experience the atmosphere thanks everybody at Red's for a great meal!!!!!More

A working was constantly yelling, it sounded like other workers. But we had gone in there to relax and enjoy the scenery but it turned out to be stressful and we ate fast so we could leave.

I love finding places where it’s a step back in time and you get the nostalgic old-fashioned diner feels - Red’s is exactly that! The history of this restaurant is neat! My husband and I came right at noon for lunch on a Thursday and...they were busy. Several cars in the drive-thru and the parking lot was full (that’s always a good sign, right!?). We had about a 5 minute wait in line to order then waited approximately 10 more minutes for our food to come out. There were plenty of open booths to sit at inside as it appeared most customers were getting their orders to go. Overall, the restaurant was clean and the staff were attentive and immediately wiped down tables as customers left. The decor inside brings you back to the 50’s and creates a nice atmosphere as well. Burgers were flavorful, a little on the dry side, but tasty! The hand cut fries were crispy and yummy! Everything came out fresh and hot. Wish we would have tried their ice cream, but we will be back!More
