It’s just one of those things. If you are on I 55 near Sikeston, MO, you have to experience having “throwed rolls!” A server comes out with rolls fresh out of the oven and tosses them to you. Meals are $15 each, and includes an entree and 2 sides, plus servers come around with “pass arounds!” A TON of food!

One of the big features is the person who walks around and throws hot delicious rolls to you at your table. They also walks around dishing up sides like fried potatoes, okra, and beans as much as you can eat. The food was good, and more than you can eat in one setting. We took home a box each, so the value is extended over multiple meals.

We were told that this was a must-see and we were not misguided. The atmosphere was upbeat and fun with an amazing amount of relics to look at. The staff was, for the most part friendly. We did not have the best waitress, but her lack of service was more than made up for the other employees who were all very helpful. I also observed many waiters and waitresses that were much more service-oriented. The throwing of rolls was fun and the pass-around offerings provided more food than we could eat. A reasonably priced fun meal...we required a doggy bag and everything was terrific!

Not pleased with this location. Called ahead while we were traveling to see if outdoor seating was available because we travel with a well-behaved dog. Was informed there were outdoor seats and we could be accommodated. I even clarified again that this was possible and was told yes, there were tables and chairs outside that people could be served at. After driving quite a bit out of our way to eat there (since we loved the one in Foley, Alabama and Springfield, Missouri), we arrived only to be told that outdoor seating wasn’t something that was offered. We have loved all of the other Lambert’s locations and wish we could say the same about this one, but we didn’t even get to try it. I feel that either the establishment should stand behind what their staff tells customers (even if it was a phone conversation) or either educate employees on what the restaurant can or cannot do. Sadly, we won’t be returning to this restaurant and will eat at other establishments who can actually sit patrons in their outdoor seating areas.

We had lived in St Louis for 15 years and had to visit Lambert's. We took a maiden trip to Memphis and decided to stop for lunch at Lambert's. We were immediately concerned about folks being packed in like sardines at the tables. We just about turned around to leave, but decided that we'd never be back this way again and to just suck it up.
Our server was wonderful and patient with us as we figured out what we wanted. We were thankful that she was wearing her mask over both her nose and mouth. I'd say at least 50% of the servers were not, including the "roll thrower" who had a bandana style mask that was hanging off his chin....as he was walking around...yelling about the rolls. We also left again, but decided to stay the course.
I was really looking forward to the food, as I heard the fried chicken was out of this world. It was far from that. The pieces were large, I'll give it that. My drumstick was soggy, the breast was so overdone that I could not chew the skin, and the wing had a burned flavor. I picked off the parts I could actually eat. The greens I ordered as a side tasted good, but they were lukewarm. The baked beans were enjoyable. My youngest got the mac and cheese. The sauce was liquid-y and had a bizarre smell. It was inedible. The other two in my family's food was bland.
The real kicker was when the roll thrower guy announced a birthday. He said that the birthday girl was "single and ready to mingle". When she shouted back, "NOPE! NO!" He replied with, "we know that no means yes, don't we fellas?" I was horrified. I don't offend easily, but this isn't something you joke about.
Stopped in the bathroom thinking it would be cleaner than the gas station one down the road, but it wasn't. Only one spiket on the sink worked and the paper towels were gone. The floor was dirty and I don't think it'd been cleaned in awhile.
We will never ever ever go back.

We loved Lambert’s when we were younger - in those days Norm was still alive and you’d see him in the restaurant talking to guests and the atmosphere was so enjoyable. In the years since his passing the quality and atmosphere has steadily declined. We were in a weekend trip and saw that Lambert’s had breakfast so decided to stop in. Walked right in, no wait, stepped up the the host who greeted us with “how many”. He then got up and stood looking at the dining room before just walking off - I wasn’t sure if we were to follow him or not since he didn’t say to do so. Finally I decided he was going to a table so we followed him, he had already put the menus and silverware on the table and had turned to walk away. He walked right past us without even saying a word. We then had to use paper towels to clean off the table that still had food residue on it (turns out he was bussing tables too). Our server Luke was great, very polite, enthusiastic and helpful, The roll throwing guy was fun to watch. But the overall restaurant is so dirty and run down, the bathrooms are dirty and dirt and thick dust everywhere. The food was ok, not the quality it used to be. I wish OLE Norm could come back for a surprise and teach Barrett (the host) how to properly greet and interact with people, he’d give Luke a raise, and I think he’d have a fit at how dirty and rundown the whole place is. This was our last visit, sorry Norm, but your legacy died with you...

Stopped 1:00 on a Monday to wait in a line with 80,% of patrons not wearing masks. Food was priced high but large portions. Serves were gloved but not wearing masks. Throwed rolls were huge but I had mine handed 2,me.soft drinks are $3.25.
Most food was greasy. Side items available by servers were macaroni and tomatoes, fried potatoes with onions, fried okra,or apple butter.
You are able to box up your leftovers.my chicken dinner 2,breasts ,two sides plus any of above hand delivered sides with rolls and ice tea was ,$22.

Lambert’s, home of the throwed rolls... about the only good thing they serve. It’s cool to see rolls thrown across the restaurant. I have been here twice, 15 years apart. I wasn’t impressed either time. The wait is long. It’s supposed to be southern cooking but it’s definitely not made from scratch as claimed. Both times I’ve been there I sent both my first entrees ordered back. The chicken tenders were good, along with the potatoes they bring around. The fried okra wasn’t bad.

We had heard about this restaurant and went in to try it. Food was good, staff very nice and friendly. They ask who wants tolls and then they will throw them to you. Warning, the portions are huge! They also go around and ask if you want various other items such as fried okra, black eyed peas, fried potatoes with onions. Quite a different experience.

Whenever we are in the area we always try to stop at Lamberts to eat. During the COVID-19 pandemic all the employees took precautions to wear masks which was nice. Even though it was a bit crowded we didn’t seem concerned.
The food is still good as usual. They still throw the rolls which is always fun to watch and they still do the pass around’s which I really enjoy. I ordered the meatloaf and my wife ordered the chicken and dumplings. My meatloaf wasn’t hot so I asked them to warm it up which they did promptly and I appreciated it. The food is still good, the atmosphere is always fun and we will always return whenever we are in the area and highly recommend coming here.

This place is a Gem! Best place I've ever ate at. The throwed rolls are on point. You need a roll you better catch it. LOL
Servers continually bring around extra sides like mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, ect. Chili Mac, fried potatoes, you name it they got it.

This restaurant not only has the best food, best rolls, and best staff ever - the ambience is amazing. I have never eaten at a restaurant like this - they throw the HUGE homemade rolls and they bring you more food while you are eating your food. The food tastes homemade and is over the top. The wait on the weekend was about an hour but weekdays are much better. Fabulous food and so very generous quantities. Tommy was an amazing waiter too!!

We went about 11 a.m. on a weekday, so there was no line (there can be a long wait at peak times). I always get the hog jowl. When the waitress brought it out she asked if I wanted it crispier. Since she offered, I accepted. Some grease had pooled in the slices and she saw me wiping them off with a paper towel. She took it back to make it crispier and get rid of the excess grease without me asking for anything. It was exceptional service. They pass arond quite a few extras, but you can only get the fried okra or a huge throwed roll until your plate arrives. A visit here is definitely an experience.

It pains me to admit that we were disappointed when we visited Lambert's recently. Years ago we lived in the area and really like the restaurant. While traveling through about a week ago we decided to try them again. The wait to be seated was longer than expected even though it was a weeknight. Once we were seated we were waited on quickly. My husband got the special of 2 pieces of chicken and I got the chicken livers. Unfortunately the livers were too crisp to really taste good. Husband was not terribly impressed with his meal either. We did enjoy some of the pass-arounds. The apple butter was delicious! While the price was reasonable, we realized that merely filling us up really wasn't enough. Probably won't return.

If you have a mind to have a warm yeast roll tossed at you, go to Lambert’s. But if you’re seeking a meal that’s anything but non-offensively bland, pass it by. In my visits over the years, the quality of the food has declined, sadly. But, they still throw rolls. Most staff were masked, but only a very few had nose and mouth covered. It’s still an event, but a one-trick event.
